I just saw that my reservation on the library is ready to be picked up. It's the #2 in Darkest Powers series by Kelley Armstrong
So Since I'm going to the library tomorrow that would work
@Anita - I liked that series - I read it a while ago.@Tia - does it sound bad to admit I haven't read the Sookie Stackhouse series. I have several of them in dead tree version - other shinier things keep popping up though
Forgot to mention - you can read a stand alone book for #1 or a #12 of a series to this week if you have one. As I'm not at #12 in any of my series - I didn't think of this option.
@Melissa - I liked the first one. I had forgotten what it was supposed to be about, but I thought Kelley was writing it well, and I was totally not expecting what happened in the end. I haven't read the series you're reading, but I just read the summary of the first one and it sounds really good. I may wanna add it to my TBR list, but atm. it's getting a little out of hand (got 890 books on it atm).
@Tia - I haven't read the series either, but it's on my to read list.
@Melissa - Good you mention it, cos I was thinking about being able to read no. 12 of a book, but then I thought, I'm not near a number 12 yet.

It's been a while so not sure I remember exactly what happened but I do remember there being a few twists/things I wasn't expecting when I read the trilogy.
Have you read MM before? I started just last year and did a buddy read w/a GR friend of
series which is awesome BTW. We've found some other great series too.
Its not a bad thing there are way too many books in the world I am one of the biggest True Blood fans in the world but Im just getting around to reading them too. I bought a brand new box set with the first 10 books for like $26 so Im really enjoying them and they are such pretty covers :) They make a rainbow when they are lined up.
@Melissa - No Haven't read MM before@Tia - I haven't seen the TV series actually. I've wanted to, but never gotten around to see them.
26 dollars sounds pretty cheap. I have access to this Danish book app called Mofibo, which is kinda like Netflix, just with books, I pay a fee a month and get access to a lot of books. I know the Sookie Stackhouse series is on there, so it's only a matter of time before I get started.
Sorry ignore my last post! No coffee yet I was reading the post your spot in Team SSS I got confused

was good I liked it - #2 is supposed to be better says Ezi who was nice enough to lend it to me. I had a few issues with #1 but I think it has to do with storyline than writing - writing/plot was good.
Ok- that was a great roll because I've had
UnWholly (#2 Unwind) as part of my April reads that should have been started by now. Great timing!

Week One
Read: Living Dead in DallasLiving Dead in Dallas (Sookie Stackhouse, #2) #2 in the series
Rated: 4 stars
I love this series so far and I knew I would because I love the T.V. show so much (HBO's True Blood). The two are pretty similar still but I believe the next book is where they start to branch off more in their own. This follows Sookie Stackhouse , a southern telepathic waitress, who is dating her towns very first resident vampire. The other vampires in the surrounding areas have become aware of her "gift" and now expect her to help them by interviewing people to find out the truth in certain matters. Her boyfriend is needed in Dallas and she travels with him to assist and it gets crazy as ever with these books. They deal with vampires, shape shifters, maenads, werewolves. Pretty much an encyclopedia of supernatural creatures are presented through the series but this one is shapeshifters, vampires, and maenads. The Maenad herself is a very interesting character but I do love the way they represented her in the show more than the book. They just enhanced her character from what she started as that it became a little disappointing while reading because I wanted more of her and her story. There is a ton of mystery, adventure, Southern charm and sexy sexy vampires that makes these fun fast and addicting reads. One of my favorite things about this series is her phrasing and the way she adds the little Southern sayings in the book. It just adds so much to the characters and made me smile as I was reading it more than once. I loved it and can't wait to continue with the series.

It sounds really good, I can't wait to start reading it.And wow you read it fast. Which means it must have been hard to put away. I love those kinds of books.
I'm a little sad right now cos the library was closed today, and won't be open again until Tuesday, so My review probably won't be there until Thursday.
I was sure the library would be open today since all stores are open.
It is a fast read its only 279 pages and so much is jammed packed into the book it goes by super fast. I'm sorry about your library being closed. That never does seem fair , when people are off of work and kids out of school they might want to read but the libraries hours are always not reflecting that. I was really surprised when I moved here to Hawaii and most of them were closed on weekends. I would use them more often but it's just so inconvenient.
I Know. But I'll manage, I have 2 eBooks to finish for some other challenges this month, but since this one is a weekly one, I wanted to finish it first :)
Way to go, Tia!I'm almost done with my book. Not sure I'll get on here tomorrow. Should be able to post my review by Monday.
Happy Easter!!
Go Tia. I'm reading one of mine now and I'm starting another one in the morning. Since almost anything on my list is usable
Thanks :O) Truthfully, I completely over extended myself this month on challenges so now I am in a mad dash to get them all done by the 30th. Hopefully I will learn my lesson and gain some much needed willpower not to sign up for every challenge I see in May. LOL
I hope everyone has a Happy Easter !

This is the second book in the Unwind dystology and it did not fail!! Continuing the story of Conner, Lev and Risa, this continuation adds a few more interesting characters to the world of AWOLs. The safety base is no longer the haven they once thought it was for unwinds. Politics and new agendas have positioned it as nothing more than a bargaining tool just waiting to change everything. On top of it, one of the organizations has taken Unwinding to the extreme by creating Cam. Cam, however, coming to terms with reality outside of his master's sculpted plan, has his own agenda now that he knows the truth. Shusterman is so brilliant. His books are nothing less than astonishing, creepy and thrilling at the same time. His method of writing leaves you hanging on to each word. He doesn't waste time with page filled fluff. His writing is gritty, humorous and purposeful. His characters are so developed and real they take you on a fast, jerking roller coaster of high love, low hate and everything in-between! I know the next one will not disappoint.

Review: Wow - I liked this one much better than book #1. I felt like Mac maybe sort of figured out what he was putting Tony through with his need to be in the closet. To an extent I even understood his need to be in that closet. But we all know it becomes very hard to live your life with that big of a lie going on. Lots of further character development, especially for Mac. Lots of emotions with this one - I had a few ' ' oh no you didn't moments ....OMG you really did just do that',lol. Eagerly anticipating what will happen in the next book.
Was so nice here in Chicagoland area yesterday. We got to have to kids do a candy easter egg hunt outside yesterday ~ wonderful!!
Nice job, Sha!! Could you please add a finished date and rating to your post for your book ~ thanks!

Dakest Powers series #2
Rated it: 4★
Review:
This book starts after Chloe has been captured by the group called 'Edison Group.' Chloe soon finds out that she and the rest of the gang from Lyle House is part of an experiament for teenagers with paranormal powers. She also notices that they might want to get rid of her (meaning they want her dead). So she has to figure out how to escape. The sooner the better. Chloe and Tori manages to escape, with the help of Liz and join forces with Darek and Simon. Most of this book is about Chloe and the other 3 on the run.
I still really like this series. It's fast paced and good writing. I also feel like the characters have developed a bit more. Especially Chloe and Darek.
I also think that Kelley Armstrong is good at writing unexpected twists which makes you want to keep on reading (luckily I have the next and final book right here beside me:) )
(I'm really no good at writing reviews. )
Way to go, Anita! Your review is absolutely fine. I'm not a huge review write either - it's all good :)
Well I guess the more reviews you write the better you get.Maybe by the end of this reading challenge We'll all be awesome reviewers haha :)
:)I'm glad I've read all these reviews this week. It sounds like books I may want on my TBR list (I'm just taking a break from adding books at the moment (or I'm trying to) cos my TBR shelf is on more than 900 books atm. and I think it's best if I shrink it a little before adding new ones)
I know how that is, I keep saying I'm putting myself on a book buying ban and trying not to add very much to my t.b.r. but then I see the Amazon deals of the day or a banner on Goodreads and its all over. If I didn't buy one more book and just read what I have I would have enough to read every day for probably a few years so its super out of hand :O)
Haha.Well actually I don't have more than half of the books on my TBR list. but I do have about 20 books I haven't read yet, then I've got access to about 200 books (from TBR list) on this reading device like Netflix just with books, and then about as many on the library. But still it should be enough to fill my time in a couple of years.

I've given up that battle. Mine is over 1100 - as soon as I read some I see shiny pretty new things to add to my TBR. :D

Review: This was an ARC and all I can say is this. This book was amazing and the world building in this book was so amazing. I hate that the MC's spent so much time apart but the dream walking was so cool. I am loving the back story and can't wait to write a full review.
