Review: As stated previously in this thread this series was my introduction to M/M books. I love this book because we get to see more of Vanyel and what makes him tick. We get to see more of his humanity and not the marble statue that he felt he had to become. After being able to modify the web with the help of the other three guardian herald-mages, the others start dying first in ways that seem accidental. Vanyel feels the deaths as they occur. When there is just him and His Aunt Savil left, she begs him for more protection. He promises then get caught up in the life he has as royal adviser and councilor and forgets, he goes to bed thinking he will do it tomorrow when Savil is attacked and killed before he can get there, He realizes he is the only herald-mage left. He goes hunting the enemy with Stefen, a bard and his lovebonded mate. Vanyel get captured and his powers are nullified by a spell. He is raped and abused. When a healer blackmailed by the bandits remove the spell, Vanyel is crazed and starts using his magic to kill everyone around not knowing who is innocent and who is guilty. Stefen and Yfandes, Vanyel's companion, manage to bring him back from his madness.
they find the mastermind of he attack and Stefen goes back to get the guard on Yfandes while Vanyel hold of the army at a choke point in a mountain pass.
Vanyel has to us the final strike on the more powerful mage to keep him from sweeping into Valdemar.
This is a good and moving fantasy epic that if you love high fantasy you should read.

The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa (The Iron Fey #3)
Finished: 13 May 2014

Review:
Book 1 was good, book 2 was better, but book 3? Book 3 was simply amazing. Lots of action, epic battles, epic emotions and great plot twists through the entire book. Character development is also definitely one of the strong points of the series - Meghan has come a long way since we first met her in The Iron King, and with this book she truly becomes the strong heroine she was meant to be. I loved every single page of this novel, and the end was one of the most satisfying ones I've read in a while. With this book, the Iron Fey series has definitely claimed a place on my favourites list - can't wait to read the next installment!

Sure, the heroine was somewhat of a doormat, and the hero a bit of a frustrating jackass, but I forgave them their faults because of the rich and detailed historical Scottish setting. In the author's notes, McCarty references that the real life Christina Fraser was sister to Simon Fraser, the first Lord of Lovat - which for an Outlander geek like myself made me sit up and take notice. Here's a story of Jamie Fraser's ancestors!
While I may not have been rooting for this couple, they were still enjoyable to spend time with for a few days, and the political setup has me itching to read more in this series. Great historical detail (with almost too much confusing inter-clan posturing for me to keep up with) that has made me a serious fan.

Another great book in this series. This book starts with kidnapping, but she is saved by Kara (main character). Then there is murders which link 2 cases together and Kara is investigating whats the reason behind it all. Can't wait to pick up next book in this series :)

Great start to what promises to be a very entertaining UF series. The protagonist, Scarlett, is a null, someone whose presence negates all magic in her vicinity, including turning vampires and werewolves back to human while they're near her - and her day job consists of cleaning up evidence of magical activity all over LA. Now her presence at a particularly gruesome murder scene with a supernatural component puts her and the city's magical inhabitants on a homicide cop's radar, and she must work together with Officer Jesse Cruz to solve the killings before the city's vampire master has her killed as a scapegoat. Lots of action, great characters, and an entertaining plot with some very nice twists - a great read all around.

This was an interesting fantasy read that is also very philosophical, sometime it went over the top of my head. I love being challenged to expand my mind when I read. This went beyond challenge to forcing me out of the story to contemplate it. I rarely felt very into the story, but I am glad I read it.

It was good to read YA book for a change. The book is about a girl who's mother is superhero. Because of that she has always felt safe, but there are things out there who want her dead.

I found that I loved this book and it premise. Don't know that I would have thought of it paranormal, probably because I don't think that psychic gifts are above the normal. Kevin and Connor are both damaged in their own way and are so protective of each other. This has more of a feeling of a fated relationship -- not forced but fated to happen. all I have to say is that thank heeaven for interferring friends and family. Both MCs were typical males in that they didn't communicate well and instead of talking about what worried them they just made assumptions. That fault aside It was a book I am very glad I read. cops/fbi agents so good and hot yummy sex. If you haven't read it do so.

Shadowborn by Alison Sinclair (Darkborn Trilogy #3)
Finished: 20 May 2014
Rating: *****
Review:
I went into the conclusion of this brilliant fantasy trilogy with high expectations and was glad to see them fulfilled. Shadowborn definitely lives up to the promise of the first two books, adding yet another dimension to this already complex and fascinating world, upping the ante on the battles both magical and mundane and bringing together all the wonderfully fleshed out characters we've met in the previous installments along with more additions to the cast. While I'm sad to say goodbye to this unique and skillfully crafted world and its many intriguing inhabitants, the ending was absolutely satisfying and I'll be looking forward to reading more from this talented author.

Review: This is one of my favorite series and this book proves Rollins still has it. What a ride! Impeccable research and a cool globe trotting story combine for a great read as usual, but this time we got a walloping of emotion too. Big changes and consequences abound, and I can't wait to read the next one in two months!

Ghouls Just Haunt to Have Fun by Victoria Laurie - 3rd book in the series

I absolutely loved this book! I love when books make me bit scared and this one did it a lot. I don't know why, but there is something about ghosts, which scares me :) I don't know why or maybe it was because it took place in a hotel. I remember right away The Shining and its scary...I loved this book and cant wait to start with next book in this series :)

Oh this was so wonderful not only were there the romances with the brother Taylor and Jagger Drake with the twins Grayson and Xander Quinton. The mates are in the same order in the naming of them. but you get to see hints of mating that may will coime on later in the story. We see not only the familiar characcters from earlier but new one and paople who were just background in previous stories got show a bit more prominently. I quicklly devoured this book and enjoyed it so much highly recommended.

Blue Lightning by Ann Cleeves (Shetland #4)

An intriguing, well-plotted murder mystery with a great setting. Shetlands Detective Jimmy Perez returns to his home on Fair Isle to introduce his fiancee to his parents, but the holiday is soon cut short when a woman is found murdered. With the island cut off from the mainland by stormy weather, the investigation begins under less than ideal circumstances, and a second murder soon follows...
Ann Cleeves does a great job keeping up the suspense through the entire book. Added to that, the characters are well-developed, the writing flows well and the end comes with a shocking twist I really didn't see coming.

Hearne bounced back spectacularly after the missteps of book 3. This one had tons more action and we got our favorite humorous hound Oberon back to entertain us. Coyote is a slippery character and frustratingly irksome, but the interactions with Frank made up for having to deal with Coyote.

Ghouls Gone Wild by Victoria Laurie - 4th book in the series

In this book M.J. travels to Scotland to film new TV show "Ghoul Gutters". From the begging the book was interesting and the story just sucks you in and you cant stop reading it. With legends of wicked witch and finding dead body, the story kept me interested till the end. It was great read :)

Another killer strikes in Lake Eden! Time for Cookie Jar owner and hobby sleuth Hannah Swensen to go on another quirky crime-solving adventure. For once it's not Hannah herself who stumbles over a dead body - this time, the honour belongs to her constantly meddling mother Delores, who promptly urges her daughter to take on the case. Additionally, Hannah has a diet, brisk business at the Cookie Jar and juggling her two love interests as well as both of her sisters to deal with. The killer was pretty easy to figure out this time, but the fourth book in the Hannah Swensen series nevertheless made for a deliciously entertaining read.

The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie
Finished: 5/28/14

Review: I enjoyed the "mad" Lord Ian and Beth's attempts to clear his name from a couple of nasty murders. There's a pleasant twist at the end I didn't see coming, which added a layer to the animosity between certain characters. I especially appreciated a historical setting that explored mental health/autism and how a member of the peerage may have dealt with it. Unique story for this genre and I'm eager to read more!
