NBRC Book Ninja | 1025 comments Guesses made during week 4 have now been posted to this spreadsheet
to enable teams to get their strategy right for week 5
Note that Medico della Peste's cover was revealed during week 4 and they now have a new cover

Turtlecollector Dennis | 1164 comments Can we get points if our cover never gets guessed?

message 205: by NBRC Book Ninja (last edited Jun 12, 2014 08:18PM) (new)

NBRC Book Ninja | 1025 comments I have thought about it.... ;)
You guys are really doing well at evading 'capture' lol

Turtlecollector Dennis | 1164 comments What about points for being the only team to never have a 'yes' answer? At this rate, that is going to happen to us, too.

NBRC Book Ninja | 1025 comments I've had a question about week 6 from a team:
Since this is the last week, can banked books be used for guesses other than the opposing team? Say we uncover our opposing team and still have banked books. Or is it strictly for our opposing team and genres?

I'm thinking of allowing this for the final week; as those who have made alliances would still have an advantage by only having to use one book. Any thoughts before I make up my mind?

Sarah | 3273 comments I am confused on this? I don't think we should change the rules though.

Basically at the moment if you uncover your opposing team, then your banked books can no longer be used as DOUBLES because it is the last week and so there is no-one to use them against.

So the question is, can you use your banked books against ANY team for a guess after your opposition has been uncovered (same as masquerade, but you would have to use 2 books not just 1)

Renee (reneeconoulty) | 3309 comments I like it.

Ok so we have 3 teams saying yes and I haven't heard from Colombina, Volto, Bauta or MdP.
Just need one more of those teams to say yes to this and then we shall go ahead......

Amanda (daughterofoak) | 3473 comments I like this new twist, too.

Turtlecollector Dennis | 1164 comments Sorry, I didn't realize we were voting.

I think the banked books need to be used for the opposing team before the prizes from the extra challenge. I don't think a team should be able to use the prizes, uncover their team and still be able to use banked books for any team since the banked books were originally supposed to be used against the opposing team.

If banked books are used before the extra challenge prizes and there are still banked books left after uncovering their opposition, I will vote to use the rest of the banked books for any team.

In this I mean banked books being used as DOUBLES, not banked books in a MASQUERADE, which can already be used for any team.

NBRC Book Ninja | 1025 comments Ok TC, that seems fair.

There is one team who have used a prize to uncover their team, so if we go with this I would give them another team as their "opposition". Does that make sense to everyone?

Turtlecollector Dennis | 1164 comments I also have a question about week 6 books. You said it is a normal week plus the extra challenge. So, in a normal week if 4 members read the genre assigned we get the points for the genre and then the other 4 books are banked. Can we use these banked books from week 6 in doubles this week?

That makes sense to me.

message 221: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (nancyhelen) | 1469 comments I am quite happy with only using banked doubles for other teams after all of the other sweet bonuses have been used. I think it makes sense.

Also, I quite like Turtlecollector's idea about week 6 banked books, but I am assuming that will only if they haven't been used for a Golden Dust bonus?

message 222: by NBRC Book Ninja (new)

NBRC Book Ninja | 1025 comments Ok, so it is official, you can use banked books DOUBLES for *any* team in week 6, but only after you have uncovered your opposition without using sweets. (For this purpose I have assigned Pantalone a new opposition)

And yes, I agree TC that you can use week 6 books for doubles/masquerades as it is the last week

message 223: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (nancyhelen) | 1469 comments If we uncover our opposition partially using sweets (i.e. use a Blue Curacao then doubles to finally guess the cover) does that count? And as we're halfway through out Blue Curacao (i.e. we haven't made a guess yet, although we are using it against our opposition) what happens if we guess correctly?

message 224: by Karen ⊰✿, Fiction Aficionado (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 16594 comments Mod
Hi NancyHelen - If you do happen to uncover your opposition with this Blue Curaco, I will just assign you a new "opposition" for the purpose of the banked books being able to be used against "any" team seeing that you are already part way there

message 225: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (nancyhelen) | 1469 comments Fabulous, thank you :-)

message 226: by NBRC Book Ninja (new)

NBRC Book Ninja | 1025 comments Just to be clear for everyone:

For week 6:

You can narrow down your opposition using sweets and use DOUBLES to guess at them. If you are successful, then future DOUBLES can be used for ANY team.
If you use a sweet to not just narrow down, but uncover your opposition, I will assign you a new "opposition" for the purposes of DOUBLES.

Teams, don't forget you can use your week 6 "banked" books this week for doubles or masquerades as it is the last week.
I had a question about how this works, my copied response is below:

So think about this week as two challenges. You have your sweets and the "normal" challenge. The books used for these can overlap. You just can't overlap and use the same books within the same challenge (so you can't use the same books in Golden Dust and Black Forest for example). Does that make sense? So the books in the "normal" challenge that you would ordinarily bank you can use this week as doubles or masquerades (but then you are "stuck" with the allocation of that book as a "banked" book. I won't allow changes once it is used)

NBRC Book Ninja | 1025 comments For the last week I'm giving everyone a bit of an extension to use the sweets and gets your posts done. It will be due in about 2 days and 2 hours from now.

There is quite a lot for Ninja's to finalise this week so please post earlier if you can ; and be patient to find out the final results.

Countdown to the end of the challenge is here!
