Mansoorali V A (mansoorva) | 1 comments Hi everyone, am Mansoor, I live in Kerala, India. I am so glad to meet new people around the world, I just love to read romantic and classical fictions and I hardly try to read every day, unfortunately I didn't get a perfect time in every day, so I keep a book belong to me and whenever I get time I read it happily.

Debalina Karmakar (dk_debalina) | 1 comments Hi!

I am Debalina, from India. I have taken up a challenge to read 15 books this year and have already finished 6 and reading two more at the moment.

I am doctor by profession and also preparing for my post-graduation. So sometimes i hardly find time to read my non-curriculum books. Still I hope to edit my challenge to a higher number before this year is up.

Cheers!

Good luck with your challenge- looks like you will be done well before time.

message 1004: by Aless (new)

Aless (epicescence) | 32 comments Hello, I am Aless. I live near London, UK.
I found this group at the start of this year as I was interested in doing a reading challenge so I was searching around for different ones. I signed up to do the 2016 TBR challenge here, so far I've read 5/10, while my general 2016 goal is 25 and I've read 11.
I used to be a bookworm as a kid, then I got a PS2 and stopped reading so much for a several years, but a few years ago I found goodreads and it's turned me back into my old self as I can find recommendations so easily.

At least 90% of what I read is fantasy, our world is an awful place so I love to escape to different worlds. I do read other genres sometimes including self help, romance, historical fiction, young adult, sci fi, mystery etc. I did a degree in Biomedical Science as I am interested in health and disease.

My lifetime reading goal is to read lots of enjoyable books and learn more, to develop my knowledge on lots of topics.

Anyone here got any fantasy books to recommend me (you can check my shelves to see what's there)?

Have you read Jeffrey M. Poole Bakkian Chronicles or Tales of Lentari?

message 1006: by Keri (new)

Keri Sparks | 632 comments Konichiwa! My name is Keri Sparks. As much as I enjoy reading, I am very picky about what I read and never seem to have time to read half as much as I would like.
I love fantasy (though I'm picky about what kind), enjoy a good mystery, and occasionally even pick up a good fiction. I also love mangas but that's probably because they are basically picture books. Who doesn't like pictures in their books?

I'm hoping to broaden my list of authors. I feel like my scope of reading has narrowed horrendously. I have discovered quite a few interesting titles on goodreads though which I am excited about!

All in all, happy reading good people!

message 1007: by Alli (new)

Alli (allibobrowsky) Hello! My name is Alli and I really enjoy reading but can never seem to find the time to because of school. I don't yet know what type of books I prefer but I'm open to all. I'm very excited to have joined this group and I hope it will help me read more!

message 1008: by Dramapuppy (new)

Dramapuppy | 195 comments Hi, I'm Dramapuppy. My friends say I read a lot, but I don't think I read enough. I love reading psychological horror, but have trouble finding it. Most of what I stumble across is just a thriller, and not as scary. Thrillers are fine too, though. I read all age ranges, children to adult. I hope joining this group will make it easier to keep track of my reading, find new books, and motivate myself to read more. :)

message 1009: by Laura Ellis (new)

Laura Ellis | 2 comments Hi all,
I am Laura and I am from KY.
I read just about anything I can get my hands on and always looking for recommendations.
I found the group by searching groups on goodreads and thought this sounded like a great one to join.
My goal for the year is 25 but may change if I reach that goal and still have time to add more to it.
I look forward to getting to know all of you.

Jade F. (goodreadscomjadeforbidden) | 28 comments Hi all,

I'm Jade, an Executive Assistant from London, avid reader/blogger attempting at my first book (!)
In a relationship with a fantastic guy whom was - until February - my best friend. We live together in a lovely town house with a cute furry pest called Venusia, an Oriental Siamese... Retriever! She actually thinks of herself as a cross between a human, a kitty and a dog LOL.
I read fiction, happy ever after, chick lit, love a good mistery every now and then, fantasy.
My goal is to read at least 40 books this year; I'm on a good track with 8 under my belt since January, but not sure whether I'll find good titles to achieve the target. Hopefully this group will help!

message 1011: by Laura Ellis (new)

Tami | 3 comments Hi! My name is Tami and I'm a 27 year old from NJ, USA. I spent quite a bit of time browsing groups and kept landing back here. I'm very much looking forward to participating here! I'm pretty much up for reading anything and am trying to read through Business Weekly's top 100 books while keeping up with the books coming out all the time. My current reading list (I keep a google doc for it) is 753 books long and growing constantly

message 1016: by Blagica , Challenges (last edited May 17, 2016 08:01PM) (new)

Blagica | 12941 comments welcome Tami I am in NJ too. please jump in this group is an awesome place to be if you have suggestions ideas we love to hear them. do you have a favorite book in your growing pile?

message 1017: by Tami (new)

Tami | 3 comments Thanks! I'm super addicted to the Outlander series but I'm trying to space them out to savor it. I think I'm most excited to pick up Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman once my turn on library's wait list is up

message 1018: by Holly (new)

Holly Uren | 2 comments Hi all, I'm Holly and I'm 24 years old, living just outside London, England. For the past few years, I've been challenging myself to read 52 books a year which I generally manage quite well but I seem to keep gravitating towards the same sort of book recently so thought I'd join a group to read some books I wouldn't normally read! :D

message 1019: by Winter, Group Reads (new)

Winter (winter9) | 4998 comments Welcome everyone! Look forward to getting to know you all!

message 1020: by Judy (new)

Judy Fleener | 9 comments Hi I am Judy, I live in Western Michigan. I enjoy mystery, especially English mystery. I also like memoirs and biography and some historical fiction. I set a high goal for myself last year and did not make it, so I reduced it this year. I am half way to my goal and ahead by about ten books.

I am currently reading The Kindness of Enemies, an excellent book. The protagonist is a bi racial woman who teaches at a university in Scotland. The book also flashes back to the struggle between the Russians and the native people in the Caucasus.

Louise Penny is my favorite author. I love her series about Three Pines and Inspector Gamache.

message 1021: by mollusskka (new)

mollusskka Hello, I'm Eka Herlyanti from Indonesia, but you can call me Eka. I challenge myself to read 100 books this year. This is my first challenge, btw. I read books from Indonesian writer or outside Indonesia. And I'm ready for next month reading challenge of this group.
Hope we can be friends and feel free to add me as your friend ^^

message 1022: by Caty (new)

Caty | 1 comments Hello everyone!
My name is Caty and I enjoy most genres, with the exception of romances and mysteries. My goal is to read 40 books this year! Lately, I really enjoy audiobooks to make my commute to work in the morning an adventure. Would anyone have any recommendations? I don't shy away from anything dark or brutal, and I also love historical fiction or even self help!

message 1023: by Angelina (new)

Angelina (angiestarbaby) Hey there :)

My name is Angie, and I live in Melbourne, Australia. I have pretty eclectic tastes in music and tv/film, and also in books, I'll read any kind of genre if the writing lures me in!

I have been an avid reader since I was a child, but have not read very much over the past 10 years or so. Having 3 children has taken me away from books, and my goal this year is to get back to what I love. Reading relaxes me, it engages me, it entertains me, and it is one of my first loves. I look forward to discovering new books, and re-discovering old ones.

I have been on Goodreads for some time, and haven't really done anything on here. This is my attempt to become involved, meet some new friends, and set some challenges for myself. Which is why I have joined this group.

Let's see how I go :)

message 1024: by Effie (new)

Effie Hi everyone !
Nice to meet you ! I'm from France, not so far away from Paris. I like to read a little of everything ( depends on my mood and on the weather)

Happy reading!

message 1025: by Marck (new)

Marck | 6 comments Hello there, I'm Melly. I'm pretty new to Goodreads and am still trying to get the hang of this.
I'm from the U.S., I'm the oldest sibling, and have many, many cousins.
Now on to books. I love a wide variety of books: horror, thriller, suspense, crime, dystopian, fantasy- really anything I think sounds interesting. I like both YA and Adult fiction and will give any book a chance if it sounds good. I'm also quite fond of manga. I would love recommendations!
I found the group by searching for reading challenges to partake in.
My reading goal for this year is 100 books, and I'm fairly certain I'll be able to reach it.
I love meeting new people so if anyone wants to be friends, just add me! :)

message 1026: by Esa (new)

Esa (theresaeder) | 5 comments Hi, my name is Esa and I love reading books! That is why I singed up for goodreads.
I mostly read classics and YA books but I am open to any genre.
I always wanted to be part of a book club and I am looking forward to reading Pride and Predjudice in June.

message 1027: by Peter (new)

Peter Barr | 3 comments Hello. I am Pete and I'm from Louisiana.
Mostly, I like to read murder mysteries but I will venture into my motorcycle and computer manuals or anywhere that strikes me at the time.
I retired last year and began to read more. I asked friends on Facebook for reading suggestions and one suggested I check out Goodreads. I found the group this year.
I started a challenge last year. I did it again this year. My goal this year is, again, 26 books. I just finished my 41st book, How the Irish Saved Civilization and 42nd book, Hatha Yoga Illustrated so the goal was underfigured.
I get my books from the public library and sometimes they have waiting lists or just don't have what I'm looking for. I have a request from a neighboring parish to check out books there.
I have about a dozen books on my own list to read but would welcome suggestions.

message 1028: by Kadijah Michelle (new)

Kadijah Michelle (kadmich) | 2176 comments Peter, I loved How the Irish Saved Civilization. I hope you check out the rest of the books in the series.

Welcome all to the group. My computer almost died this weekend, and my first thought was, oh no, what am I going to do if I can't get to my Goodreads' group?!?! That's how comfortable this group is. I hope you all find a home here too.

message 1029: by Tayler (new)

Tayler | 1 comments Hey everyone! I am Tayler. (Different way of spelling it, wasn't a mistake) :)
I'm from hot, sunny, never ending heat California. I'm new to blogging and good reads. I'm a crazy reader and even work at a book store! Clearly my number one favorite thing to do is read… I mean who doesn’t love reading?!
I love reading young adult, dystopian, romance, fiction, non-fiction sometimes as well. Usually up for anything really. Looking forward to meeting new people :D
Happy Reading as always!

message 1030: by Lora (new)

Lora (airotia) Hello! My name is Lora, and I'm from Augusta, GA (USA). I'm 23 years old, and I'm an English and Secondary Education major in college. I have finished all of my English classes, and next semester, I move onto student teaching! Theoretically, I'll have loads more free time than I have the past few semesters, where I have been taking three English classes at a time, alongside German and "starter" Education courses.

As I progressed through college, I kind of realized that I was only reading for classes, which is just NOT how I used to read -- kind of obvious, or else I wouldn't be here, right? I think I can assume we're all driven by similar desperate loves of reading.

My current 2016 challenge is for 30 books -- for the most part, they are unplanned, because I like such a wide variety of books that sometimes I will suddenly be hit with an overwhelming urge to read a particular book that I might have been neutral on a month ago. I think I really enjoy books that are beautiful narrated, thinking along the lines of The Tale of Despereaux or The Five People You Meet in Heaven.

I found the group while I was bored at work and just glancing around for an online book club. This seemed like the perfect choice, particularly because the book for next month (Pride and Prejudice) is something I have been meaning to read since I was in high school, currently own, and have just never gotten around to reading. I think it's the curse of my father telling me I'll like something, because I tend to promptly ignore him when he does.

I love forward to talking to everyone!

message 1031: by Karen E (new)

Karen E (kareneisele) Hi very large group!
I'm retired and finally have time to read read read. It is such a longing I've had to be able to enjoy this time to just read :)
The reason I joined Goodreads was to get me out of my rut (i.e. reading the same go-to authors all the time) and branching into other genres. I look forward to the challenges. It should be fun!

message 1032: by Romunda (new)

Romunda Ratliff | 5 comments Hello all! I'm Romunda. I am an avid reader. I really enjoy audiobooks, because to me the readers make the books really come alive. Lots of the books I would like to read lately are not on audio so I have been downloading to Kindle and OverDrive. I really enjoy fiction most of all. The genres I enjoy are drama, romance (depends...not the sappy kind), mystery, action and adventure, and satire. I'm not a fan of non-fiction but have read a few here and there....I'm glad to be a part of the group, and I am looking forward to some "Goodreads". Thanks for accepting me.

message 1033: by Kim (new)

Hi Kim, welcome! You should read this if you haven't yet This Is a Soul: The Mission of Rick Hodes
Amazing! A (not so) ordinary doctor with an extraordinary life. Heart-warming and inspiring. I loved it, pageturner for me.

message 1035: by Josefin (new)

Josefin (pinkzombiepony) | 2 comments Hello everybody!

My name is Josi and I am from Germany
Most of the time I love to read all kinds of fantasy novels, classic and historical fiction. Most of them in my mother tongue German but also a few in English.
I found this group because it was recomended to me on Goodreads and because I want to interact more with the comunity. I joined Goodreads more than a year ago but never had the time to get in the community, like joining groups.
My reading goal for 2016 is to read 50 books (but I am already 6 books behind....) So I hope this group gives me a little bit more motivation to read and an other goal is to get my TBR pile down to zero (currently arround 18 books (?))

So thanks to everybody here for letting me stay.
Happy reading

message 1036: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (MetallicInferno) | 2 comments Hi, everyone! I'm Amanda, and I'm from the U.S. as well. I read just about everything that crosses my path; there's very little I won't at least peruse. My favorite genres are horror, fantasy, historical romance, and rock 'n' roll biographies.

I'm setting myself some reading goals because I've been in dire need of getting back to reading more. So...here I go. I hope to see you around on the boards!

message 1037: by Kadijah Michelle (new)

Kadijah Michelle (kadmich) | 2176 comments Hello everyone! We are so happy to have you as part of our group. I hope you all find something interesting here.

message 1038: by FancyLantzy (new)

FancyLantzy Hello. I'm from California. I like a wide range of genres but usually stick with fiction, classics, and fantasy (but not typically swords and sorcerers). As a teacher, I read a lot of YA books so I can discuss them with students. Unfortunately, with the increasing popularity of the genre, it's getting harder to find good ones.

Since school is almost out for summer and I'll have more time to read whatever I want, I went looking for a book club type group and found this one instead. My 2016 challenge is to read 20 books outside of those I teach, but I hope I can beat that this summer.

message 1039: by Zoaki (new)

Emma (emgemi13) Hey, my name is Emma. I'm from Texas. I'm just now experiencing Goodreads and this is the first group that I have joined. I hope that we fit together. My taste range across many different fields of reading and I happily take recommendations of any kind. Please take care of me. My current reading is The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly

message 1041: by Jamie (new)

Jamie (jmarie84) | 1 comments Hi everyone!

My name is Jamie, I'm 32 and am from Northern California. I like to read a little bit of everything. Although I've recently discovered how much I love Jane Austen and I've become slightly obsessed lol.

I'm currently doing the 2016 Popsugar Reading Challenge and am on book #22, I'm reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

I can't wait to discover my next favorite novel/author and discussing it with all of you.

message 1042: by Pieter (new)

Pieter Schiettecatte | 1 comments Hi everyone, my name is Pieter, I'm 23 year old scientist from Belgium. I like classic literature and recently fell in love with Russian literature. As I'm quite new to Goodreads, I would be happy to meet new people (with similar interests)!

Greetings from Belgium

message 1043: by Winter, Group Reads (new)

Winter (winter9) | 4998 comments Welcome everyone! We're happy to have you all! Feel free to join anything that looks interesting and don't hesitate to ask questions!

message 1044: by Valerie (new)

Valerie | 42 comments Hi everyone! My name is Valerie, I'm 28 (well, I'll be 29 in less than a week) and I live in the US. I enjoy reading a wide variety of genres but especially mysteries, fantasy/science fiction, classics, nonfiction, and when I'm feeling ambitious, books in Spanish. I stumbled across this group looking for more groups that do buddy reads because I think that would help me to start tackling my entirely too large shelf of books that I own that I have not yet read! Looking forward to chatting with people about books!

message 1045: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi! I'm Kellie. I'm a little late to the party, but better late than never. I'm from Kearney, MO, but I currently live in Cuba, MO. I wasn't sure if you meant where you grew up or where you currently live, so I gave both.
I love all kinds of books, but I've had been on a recent binge of non-fiction books about human behavior. When I am reading fiction, I'd say Science Fiction and Fantasy are my favorites.
I found this group by searching. I was looking for active groups who had reading goals like mine and might help keep me on track.
My reading goal is 52 books for the year.

Betweenthesecoversblog (betweenthesecovers) | 2 comments Hi everyone! My name is Shakeelah, I'm from Cape Town, South Africa and I've recently started a book blog. I enjoy most genre fiction from YA to serious Adult Novels and have decided to join this group as means of networking with other readers and sharing our passion and opinions on the books we read. I stumbled on the group by accident while googling something blog related, but I';m glad I did and I'm pretty sure joining will help me get through my reading challenge of 100 books in 2016 a lot quicker as well.

message 1047: by Cate (new)

Cate | 1 comments Hello, I am challenging myself to read 50 books this year and just found both Goodreads and this group which I hope will help me achieve my goal! I am from the UK.

I like to read all sorts of different types of book and enjoy audiobooks as well. Currently I am reading Napoleon by Andrew Roberts, which is really interesting although slow to read, and am listening to Lady Audley's Secret.

message 1048: by MarjaHannele (new)

MarjaHannele | 9 comments Hello to you all! I am Marja and I am from Kokkola, Finland. I am also new to Goodreads so sorry if I seem goofy with my comments. Never used a chat before. (Never too old to learn new things they say! :) )
I want to read 150 books this year as I have already "shoveled through" 54. Am currently reading Fred Vargas first Adamsberg mystery. I obviously like crime stories and mystery. I also like stories where people find their inner strength and achieve something they thought they never would. But most of all I like stories that tell about different cultures and how people live on the other parts of this beautiful Earth.
Glad to join you to change opinions on books and get some reading tips.
Happy reading to you all!

message 1049: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stephie_nbg) | 1 comments Hello
I am a 16 year old girl from Germany.
I am new at goodreads.com.
I was looking for good new books to read in the internet and while I searched, I found this page, not many times later this group.
I love reading so much because I like to go into another world for this time. I enjoy english and german books.
I cannot say how many books I will read this year because I don´t know how many I can buy.
I am looking forward to meet new people who share my love of reading and I am always searching for good books to read.
Lots of love,
Stephie
