(view spoiler)[The last few chapters were crazy with Alex succumbing to the virus, Mark having to get a crazy off his his back and keep DeeDee from harm. The only consolation was that Trish remembered who he was. I was scared she's turn psycho and go mad if Mark made a wrong move!

So two years after the DeeDee stepped in the FlatTran and the Berg destroyed it, Thomas was born and taken to be experimented on 0.0 as well (hide spoiler)]

The fight on the transport (view spoiler)[ really bothered me. Mark's reaction when the pilot got trapped in the transport doors was disturbing. Also, I can't imagine why it didn't just close and cut him in two or have a safety device and not crush him. (hide spoiler)]

Virus (view spoiler)[ being purposely released to kill off half the population because of limited resources was not the best idea. Of course it would mutate and it did and it killed off way more than half the people. It was good to finally find out what the Flare was and how it started. (hide spoiler)]

The Maze (view spoiler)[ I don't know if I ever understood how the Maze was supposed to help save the world? Wouldn't it have been more productive to create a vaccine with the immune people's DNA/blood than put them in a maze? (hide spoiler)]

Finally started! I'm only up to chapter 3, but I already have some theories (view spoiler)[ I figure each of the guys is going to be someone from the Glade. That's why the Berg is there, right? So each of them can be taken away and experimented on. I hope we get to hear more from Teresa, because I found that prologue interesting (hide spoiler)]

And this is a lot scarier than the explanation was. I guess the virus is making them Cranks, right? And so it'll start taking longer to spread, like Lana guessed. I really like Trina and Mark together, they're very cute :) Fingers crossed she doesn't die! And I also hope she isn't Teresa! (hide spoiler)]

I'm less interested in what's happening to the other characters. I want to hear about the Flare, and the flooding and stuff. That meeting Mark just overheard was really interesting. Aww no, Did someone place a hold on the book?
At my library, I usually get to renew up to 2 times (3 weeks each time) which means I can hold on to the book for 9 weeks, unless someone else places a hold on it I get to have it until my first 3 weeks are up.

So far it seems like this is gonna be 3 stars but I'm only 24% in so I can't really make that judgement yet. It's interesting learning what it was like when the sun flares first started, and where the virus came from. I hope this book fills in some of the gaps in the trilogy. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I think that's how it started. It was mentioned that the virus kept mutating and I think that's how the Cranks were created. I still don't really understand all of it, like at what point did it become the virus we know in the trilogy. I was pretty frustrated with this book because usually a prequel novel like The Kill Order is supposed to fill in the gaps but by the end I was still left with more unanswered questions.
