Susan Hello,

I am a happy HSP who enjoys learning, and informally teaching, about the HSP trait as well as meeting other HSPs. Overall this trait, while providing many hurdles, can also bring many benefits.

This thread is for tips by HSPs for other HSPs on overcoming/managing some of the hurdles and/or making best use of the benefits being HSP brings.

For me:

On the 'management' side, I am often overwhelmed in busy social situations (e.g. parties, weddings, etc.). I do enjoy seeing friends and meeting new people but find these events take a lot of energy. During the event I tend to discretely sneak away to breathe and recover (in the washroom or coatroom, for a quick walk around the block, etc.) then return to the gathering. My friends also know me well enough to understand if I am only able to attend for a limited time.

On the 'bring out the benefits' side: I try to spend a lot of time with my HSP friends, a great deal of time in outdoor, natural environments, and take time to explore new and ongoing hobbies, such as art (sometimes a combination of the three). This way, I can still get out of the house but in gentle, HSP-friendly settings that recharge my batteries and nourish my spirit.

What are your HSP tricks and tips?

It's not funny. Actually, it's a good idea. Thank you :)!

Thank you for the ideas.

I'm curious. Is energy medicine the same as energy healing? I went to an energy healer last fall (admittedly, with some skepticism), and it was great! The healer that I saw really helped draw out some of the stagnating energy that had settled in various aching parts of my body. Some was my own energy but some was that of others that I had absorbed along the way.

The masks definitely help a lot. Light(s) can be very disruptive.
