Could someone please explain the end? I am seriously confused...

So I was towards the end of Lock and Key and I understood that Ruby gave Nate her key necklace just before he was about to board his flight. It also says that Nate was wearing the necklace in the picture when he was a lifeguard in Arizona.
Then in the last 2 pages of the book Ruby says she took out her key necklace, that I thought she had given to Nate, and drops it into the pond.

So I don't get how Ruby suddenly had the key again. Did she never give the key to Nate in the first place?

Someone please explain!!!!

I thought she gave Nate the key to her sisters house, like if he wanted to come back he'd have a place to go.

And she dropped her old house key into the pond.
But I could be wrong...will have to go back and read the end again.

Hello I think I can give you the right answer, there is two keys, one to Ruby's old house when she was living alone, and then she got a necklace one from a stall in a mall if I remember (Sorry been a while since I read it.) I think she gave the mall key to Nate and she threw the one from when she was living alone in the pond. But don't hold me to it I could be wrong, and if I'm wrong I'll reread the book.

So she gave Nate her new house key and her old chain.
That's how I am reading it.
She kept the "old yellow house" key and that's the one she dropped in the pond.

Another question about the end. Is Cora pregnant? She was crying but it sounded like the pregnancy test was positive. So I don't really know.

Yes, she was FINALLY pregnant.
She was crying happy tears, because I think she and Jamie had been trying for like a year or more for a baby.
