Ashley Marie Congratulations Tommy!! That's amazing! :)

I was planning on keeping the momentum going from November but I wound up taking the last 2 weeks off from writing. Caught up on some reading, which was nice, and now my goal is to finish this draft by the end of the year.

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 440 comments Thanks Ashley. I'm pretty excited. Trying to start the next thing but it's been a bit challenging. Going to see if I can make it happen here soon.

Good luck with your WIP. I'm rooting for you.

Elora Mitchell | 578 comments So I’ve been trying to do some writing exercises. I found one with a list of words and you just have to write to a short story using all of them
It’s been fun and helpful, but the most interesting thing is that I never write in my usual voice. 😂

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 440 comments So up to this weekend, I've had an awful year. I won't go deep into details, suffice it to say I lost a majority of the people in my life and slid deep into a depression. Lots of drinking, lots of smoking. It got ugly. Up to Saturday, I had written just under 10k words this year. YEAR. We're in the 9th month, sooo... not great. But Saturday night also came with a resolution. I decided to put thoughts of relationships, social life, music, etc. all behind me and focus fully on writing. I've decided that I'm going to publish. Traditionally, not Amazon(though there's nothing wrong with that). No matter how long it takes me or how much improving needs to happen along the way. I have a basic talent for it at least, and if I maintain the motivation I know I can get there.

So yesterday and today, I put aside all other goals/plans and focused on writing. Yesterday I managed to write about 1,700 and today I did a little over 2,200. Which, if my math isn't off(not my strongest skill, mind you) that's around 3,900 in two days. Not too far off of half of what I did the rest of the year. Not a bad start. I was off work both of these days, so I'm going to aim at about 800-1000 tomorrow and see if I can hit that realistically every workday and then focus on about 2000 on days off.

I rambled longer than I wanted. But yeah. I'm gonna publish at some point. Thanks for listening haha.

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 440 comments I just passed a thousand words. Three days in a row of 1k or more :)

Ashley Marie Good for you, Tommy! 1k/day is a great goal.

Elora, I haven't seen an email from them, but I'm thinking my 1920s histfic is going to be my NaNo project this year (then again, I may do what I did last year and bounce between 3 projects). That is, assuming I don't get wrapped up in anything else besides writing :D

Elora Mitchell | 578 comments There's nothing like trying to plan your NaNo project, letting the idea simmer and brew in your mind for the last few months, getting ready to take copious notes over the next few weeks in prep for November, ONLY to dream this awesome scene last night and be super excited by this new character and world. So I'm putting my first idea on the back burner and am going to dive into this new one.

Ashley Marie I love when I wake up from awesome dreams and actually remember them! Good luck Elora!
