My books are independent reads, why are they marked as a series?

I am confused. The two books share characters and a setting, yes?
And Advent's Children says in the authors note: "Advent Children is book #2 in the Overseer series. Both can be read independently but both are very connected."
Yes, they share the same characters, but I don't want them marketed that way because they can be read independently.
I don't want them presented that way because Advent Children is basically a standalone story that is more reader friendly and character driven than the first book. One might enjoy the 2nd book and not the 1st. And vice versa.
In msg #4, Krazykiwi quoted the author's note in Advent Children: "Advent Children is book #2 in the Overseer series. Both can be read independently but both are very connected."This was added to the series page. You can add it to the description of each book as well, if you wish.
