I just checked and the book I ordered from library is in transit for me. Might be a day or two before I get it. I'll post when I get it to start. I even ordered it while on vacation but Grace was super fast.
I gave up on the library and just downloaded my book from Ibooks.
by Jim Crace which won: National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction, New York Times 10 Best Books of the Year.
Yes, I do. But I have another book piggybacking with it so there is that consolation prize. :-)I even went to library yesterday and none of the books I was interested in were kept at my library. All required transfers. Well, starting it now with the morning coffee until the gbaby gets up and wants attention.

That looks kinda depressing...
I've chosen Gone Girl for my award winning book and I actually own a copy so I'll be ready whenever you finish, Debi :)

Well I'm a quarter way thru it and it's kinda like back n forth between their early years then flash forward to what happens to bodies left on a dune/beach for 6 days. Kind of a downer beach read!
Tien wrote: "I've chosen Gone Girl for my award winning book and I actually own a copy so I'll be ready whenever you finish, Debi :) "ohh enjoy!!
Finished Being Deadand can I just say this book was a major downer. It is considered literature and definitely had a good premise. The execution was faultless, I suppose, but really leaves one hopeless. Perhaps that was due to my lack of connection to the deceased (main characters). I'm heading back to my Fannie Flagg book to revive my spirits! Tien is up.
Thanks for the PM, Debi. am out & about (left that book at home ;p) so I'll start when I get home later.
eeep, sorry, I'm barely halfway! The book just isn't grabbing me... I even peeked at the ending to see whether I should jump ship and pick a new book or keep going. *oops!*
It's not that bad though I'm just sort of 'meh' about it all... I'll do my best to focus and knuckle down to finish it tomorrow!

Right, I did it, I finished the book! Unfortunately, don't think I enjoyed it as much as Debi & Dee. I was too annoyed at both characters and the ending, ick.
It's your turn, Dionisia.
It's your turn, Dionisia.

Ya, neither of the protagonist were cuddly people for sure. I've read all of Gillian Flynn's books and the other ones are far darker than Gone Girl.
i think its one of those books where you have to be in the right frame of mind, for me, I was looking for a mind-fuck (for lack of a better word) when I read it

I think you're right, Dee, I did feel like I really wasn't it the mood for it. I just wanted to bang their heads together :p

Just to let you all know, Dionisia acknowledged my PM within a day and I've just PM her again to check where she's at. Hopefully she'll respond tomorrow or we may have to skip her this time. In which case, Lyn's up though she doesn't seem to be around lately (holidays, I'm assuming)...
Hello fellow hopscotchers! Should be finished with How To Sharpen Pencils by David Rees by tomorrow.

awesome! Thanks for checking in, Dionisia :)

I'm here. Lots of life stuff getting in the way in my world, not all good, either. But I will be ready when Dionisia is finished. Sorry for being so absent. It has been a horrible month of June so far....

I'm up. Perusing my shelves to decide what book to read. I will be back in a few with my selection.
I never came back here to say what book I was going to read, but I finished it last night. I read Three Strikes and You're Dead, a Murder She Wrote book. It was cute and quick, actually just what I needed right now.
I have 2 books picked out - not sure which one I am going to go with yet:Barefoot by the Sea - 392 ratings, published Jan 2013
Playing Dirty - 275 ratings, Oct 2013
Dee wrote: "Can I do both? I can decide!!!"
lol- you can though you still have to start reading one before the other... unless you can read both AT the SAME time? ;p
I vote for Barefoot by the Sea :)

I vote for Barefoot by the Sea :)
But I'll go with barefoot because I have to dig through el kindle for other book and barefoot is right in front of me
I'm done with Barefoot by the Sea - glad the series ended on a high note because the 3rd book sucked!I PM'd Amy to let her know
I picked my book, Corrupt Practices: A Parker Stern Novel, published June 4th 2013, only 72 ratings, but haven't gotten it from the library yet. I should have it either tomorrow or Monday.

Hi everyone, I'm going to read The Art of Getting Well by David Spero. It only has a few ratings. :)
Hello everyone,I've finally finished my book. Sorry that I took a while. It was very good but hard to read. I'm not surprised it didn't have many ratings.
Debi is up next. I've sent her a message. :)
Ok full disclosure I picked The Sunshine When She's Gone about 6 weeks ago and ordered it from library. In the meantime it's jumped from low 490's ratings to 503 as of this morning. But the spirit of being underrated remains! Should be a quick read.

I would think that if it was 490 when you ordered it, it will still work.
