The nominations thread for the January Classics Read (PRE-1900) is now open, please suggest your book choices below.

Please remember that:
1. We do not allow self-promotion or self-published books (tricky in this category!).
2. All books need to be seconded by someone else in order to get to the voting stage and
3. Nominations must be readily available in as many formats as possible at a reasonable price.

This thread will remain open until 5th December and then will be closed for voting.

We do not have a runner up to go through from two months ago, as Sense and Sensibility came through as joint winner from September. I will update the list below once a day.

Nominated:

What Maisie Knew

Nominated and Seconded:

The Monk
Villette
North and South
From the Earth to the Moon
Fathers and Sons

Read this years ago and would love to read it again. All of the list above sound good.

Not sure if this already counts as a classic, but I always wanted to read Joseph Roths "The Radetzky March" The Radetzky March<
