Just finished my Kindle Unlimited selection
First Activation by Darren Wearmouth and Marcus Wearmouth.I really enjoyed it. It starts like a standard zombie apocalypse. But there's a twist! No zombies. Definitely worth a peek!

The lead characters are builders and ex-British Army.
Are you an artist? An underwater archaeologist? A multimillionaire with links to a criminal syndicate? A hitman? A Coast Guard officer? A sea monster? Then, this is the book for you!
Poseidon’s Children by Michael West
Suggestions for books that have a character who is social media manager or community manager? Or if there isn't maybe someone related to marketing?
If you are looking for a book that features a soldier with PTSD or features a conservation officer, then
Little Black Lies by Sharon Bolton would qualify.
computer programmer / computer hacker / government worker (censor): Alif the Unseen
publishing / writer / detective / secretary: The Silkworm

I sell and create advertising and well as publish the magazine. I'm not a Madison Avenue advertising agency. We sell to small boat businesses in So. California. Does anyone have any ideas?
Patricia: two books I'm currently reading might fit the bill!
1. The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith (aka J.K. Rowling), a murder mystery set in the publishing world. The murder victim was an unpopular writer, and the suspects are all of the people he satirized in his last novel (an assortment of other authors and people in publishing, as well as other people he knew). I LOVE these "Galbraith" mysteries, but I guess they aren't for everyone, there is a lot of cursing.
2. Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, which is basically the story about two kids who grew up in Nigeria. Not plot-driven, and it's long, but I am loving this book because I just love Adichie's writing. The protagonist moves to the USA, gets a communications degree, starts writing a blog, and has a series of jobs in advertising and finally as an editor for a small Nigerian magazine (well, that's the part where I'm at now, and I'm almost at the end).

I work in a hospital Microbiology Lab and I've yet to run across anything with my specific job title for this prompt. I am trying to decide between fictional medical thrillers (especially those involving microbes run amuck i.e. "Contagion" ) or a nonfiction book such as "Five Days at Memorial". The latter chronicles how a urban hospital in New Orleans functioned in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

Someone asked for a book about working in a yarn store.... Friday Night Knitting Club is a great book!
Also, I work at a coffee shop and have picked Love Walked In by Marisa de los Santos. Conversations With A Fat Girl by Liza Palmer also works for this.
Nadine wrote: "Kirsten - that's handy, how do you search for a subject on WSIR? I can only find title/author"Oh, I don't know... I just googled "pharmacists in fiction"

and I got titles to match. HTH!
Hi all,I was wondering if anyone had ever come across an events manager protagonist... more specifically a challenge events manager or charity events manager? Or someone who deals with triathlons?
I'm just getting career website hits.
Lizzie: there's a mistery by Robert B. Parker that deals with a swindle aroud a charity event. You'll have some characters there that are in the business of event management. Title is "sudden mischief".

I googled fictional event planners and got this list:https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2...
And it looks like Katharine Nohr writes books set around triathlons:

She used to be a race coordinator so it could be a good fit for you!
I thought that my "occupation" would be easy enough but google searches leads me to the wrong kind of books, mostly how to look for a job, how to be self employed or how to do something.Anyone have any recommendations for someone who are either unemployed and looking for work, self employed or a craftster (almost anything goes here, making jewellery, sewing, painting, miniature work, sculpture, metal working and a bunch of other things, sadly not crochet or knitting)
I remembered that in Jane Austen Book Club one of the women made jewellery, but I don't know her occupation in the book, so if anyone know this I would be grateful.
I'm a Student Event Planner at a college and I'm fairly certain there aren't any books with that SPECIFICALLY as a protagonist's occupation so I opted to just search for "Event Planner" and came across Party Girl by Rachel Hollis. This was a fun, light contemporary and is actually part of a series. The other books in the series are told from the perspective of the supporting characters in this book (which I found more interesting that the main character) so I may continue on in the future!
My roommate and I are both struggling to find protagonists that work in marketing / advertising / promotions. Anyone have any suggestions?
@Sydney The Engagements features Frances Gerety the real life advertising copywriter who created the DeBeers Diamond is Forever campaign. and here is a list with other choices

I think you'll be able to find something suitable on one of these lists:

here's a list of jewelry designers in fiction:

The protagonist is a children's librarian like me. I enjoyed all of the references to children's literature.

This book was a great suggestion!
I found it next to impossible to find a book about someone who has my exact occupation. I work in a day program for young adults with special needs, and my role involves a mix of teaching, vocational training, and what could essentially be similar to social work. I even looked for books about social work or special education, but couldn't find anything that I found similar enough.I eventually settled on The Miracle Worker, since it is a quite extreme example, but similar enough. Anne Sullivan has to teach Helen social skills and communication skills, which is definitely something that I do with the participants in my program.
I'm in the process of starting my own business, and I can't find a book where the protagonist is in the same position! Any recommendations, ladies?
I'm having a hard time finding a book with a Massage Therapist as the protagonist. Anything? Google hasn't returned any results. I've done it, I've stumped google.
This might not be exactly what you're looking for, but it's a start!

I'm a teacher and planning to read Stephen King's 11/22/63, which has an English teacher as its protagonist. I teach English and computer science!
