Kyara | 158 comments Wow that was so beautiful, I actually got a bit teary reading it!

Rachel Here is my review of the book:

4 out of 5 stars
The Fault in our Stars is a bittersweet love story between two teens who are faced with an unforseen furture. You will laugh, cry, cheer, and gasp for shock throughout the entire book. Very well done. John Green is an incredible writer, and knows how to write to his target audience. He has wonderful character development, and story arch. This book lived up to its hype...now it's off to watch the movie.

message 107: by Sheena (new)

Sheena Definitely got a bit teary eyed!

message 108: by Caleigh Rose (new)

Caleigh Rose (caleighrosebud) | 0 comments The film had about 80% of the book so I really liked it. My eyes started watering because I knew what was going to happen but I didn't cry. My girlfriend went with me though and she almost cried (didn't read the book) so it was good for her as well. ^^

message 109: by [deleted user] (new)

I thought the movie was great, although the book was (obviously) better. Most of the book was there. My biggest issue with the movie was that I didn't cry. I think that it was because I'd read the book and knew what happened, but I didn't feel as attached to hazel and gus!

message 110: by Kyara (new)

Kyara | 158 comments I think my biggest issue with this movie was that you didn't really see Gus progressively get worse, it kind of all happened at once? Whereas in the book we gradually lose him, which is what I think was the most upsetting thing for me. Especially since in the book he spoke about how a similar thing happened with his ex before she died... I don't know, I just feel like it was kind of a crucial part and showed so much raw pain and emotion. But other than that, I still cried and I still loved the movie!

message 111: by Sam (new)

Sam | 606 comments Yeah I missed that too. Especially when Hazel found the page with the farewells to his ex! When he spoke about his her and how she was a bitch and kept getting worse. How he didn't want to go like that. Poor Gus!! He had bad days. I liked in the movie how she explained u never know when your last good day would be. How true is that!

message 112: by Kyara (new)

Kyara | 158 comments Yes I do wish that had of been in there too! Although I do understand that some things are obviously going to need to be cut out. That part made me cry so much, possibly because I knew what was coming and I wasn't prepared for him to stage his own funeral oh god why Augustus?? So so true!

message 113: by Sheena (new)

Sheena I think I cried the most when he told Hazel about the cancer coming back, because I knew it was about to happen and it was so emotional for me in the book (and I had a similar moment with my mom before she passed from cancer), and the movie, to me, portrayed the emotions so well. And also the pre-funeral reading too.

message 114: by Alexis (new)

Alexis Bryant | 4 comments I think it was worse because we knew what was going to happen! I was crying when it started and my friend was just looking at me crazy!

message 115: by Sam (new)

Sam | 606 comments Haha that happened with me also as I was finding my tissues before a scene and my friend was looking at me when I passes one to her haha

message 116: by Alexis (new)

Alexis Bryant | 4 comments I told my friend to bring them and when we got there I asked for them and she said she forgot!!!!

message 117: by Sam (new)

Sam | 606 comments Oh NO! did you cry more because you forgot them... haha thats what would have happened to me :D but then again thats what sleeves are for ;)

message 118: by Alexis (new)

Alexis Bryant | 4 comments I was wearing sleeveless! You could tell who read the book and who didn't

message 119: by Sheena (new)

Sheena I had tissues, and even with those, the whole front of my shirt collar was soaked from my tears lol.

message 120: by Rachel (new)

Rachel So I rewatched the trailer after reading the book, and I can see how it will be an intense and compelling movie. Still going to wait to see it to watch it in the privacy of my own home.

message 121: by Lea (new)

Lea Clark | 8 comments Loved the book; it lived up to almost moved all the hype. As thoughtfully written as it is, touching and tragic, not the tear jerker I expected. No Kleenex here.

message 122: by [deleted user] (new)

Loved the book. It was very touching. I didn't cry. I've only cried reading one book. Allegiant. I can't wait to see the movie!

message 123: by Krista (new)

Krista Noorman (kristanoorman) | 5 comments Just saw this movie last week. I actually didn't cry when I read the book, I think because it was a book about kids with cancer, I was emotionally prepared. But I cried a LOT during the movie. Amazing acting by all involved. I was very happy with how true they stayed to the book, too.

message 124: by Sam (new)

Sam | 606 comments I admit I cried more in the book to the point I couldn't keep reading as I couldn't see the words haha This could also have been because the movie was packed when I saw it and the many young girls reactions took away some of the more emotional scenes impact for me... think I will see again when it comes out on DVD :D

message 125: by Perksofbeingnerdy (new)

Perksofbeingnerdy | 20 comments I liked the book much better, I didn't really love the movie

message 126: by Ariana (new)

Ariana | 28 comments The movie was okay, but the book was better. My sister called me heartless because I didn't cry at all while reading the book or watching the movie. There was one thing that bothered me about the movie though. (view spoiler) Why couldn't that at least have been like the book!?!

message 127: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Scott The book made me cry like a baby. Normally I can walk away from a sad scene, then come back and I'll be fine, but I left three times and still couldn't stop! I spent too much of the movie laughing at the reactions of the people behind me, so I think I'll watch it on DVD at home alone where I can cry properly

Really?

message 129: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Scott Ariana: Don't worry, I normally have a heart of steel. It was nearly midnight at the time, which was probably a bad idea...

message 130: by Ariana (new)

Ariana | 28 comments I went to see the movie with my sister and my cousins at midnight. My sister had candy cigarettes and everything.

message 131: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Scott The movie wasn't nearly as sad. I guess I'm just a bit more of a wuss :P

message 132: by Ariana (new)

Ariana | 28 comments My sister bawled her eyes out.

message 133: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Scott So did the people behind me. I'm horrible, I just laughed at them (quietly though!)

message 134: by Ariana (new)

Ariana | 28 comments I kind of chuckled.

message 135: by Ariana (new)

Ariana | 28 comments Well....Bye. I am going to sleep.

message 136: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Scott Okay, goodnight :)

message 137: by Sam (last edited Jul 16, 2014 09:01PM) (new)

Sam | 606 comments @ Victoria, I was laughing at people when I went to see it too. I cried in the book more than the movie, but I still enjoyed it. The actors did a great job so I was only really annoyed with one part (view spoiler)

message 138: by Lydia (new)

Lydia Tutton | 1 comments No amount of words can do this book justice ........... What I can say is that it's pure genius and no other book in my opinion is on that level.... They might be just as good but not on the same level of emotion as this book......

message 139: by Audra (new)

Audra (DivergentHungerGames22) I couldn't wait for the movie. I loved how the book was written.
