I have made the decision that it is spring. This winter sapped my energy. I like warm weather.

I have been lapse but that does not mean I haven't been reading. I've just been busy, busy, busy.
I have read quite a bit though. So here is my list:
The Flight of the Silvers - loved it. Could not put it down. And if you would have told me 5 years ago that I would be an "end of the world as we know it" fan I would have argued with you.
Above-Again, could not put it down. It reminded me of Room but with a "end of the world as we know it) outcome. That I didn't see coming. I seem to be in a phase.
Uganda Be Kidding Me - I love this woman. I honestly believe if we could hang out for an evening we would be lifelong friends. Don't tell anyone I said that though!
The Commitment: Love, Sex, Marriage, and My Family - I can't believe I haven't read this yet. But I may put it down for a bit, because I'm engaged now and it's making me a little loopy.
Next on my list???
The Hippest Trip in America: Soul Train and the Evolution of Culture & Style - this is right up my alley. I can't wait to start this book tonight. Don and the crew were a huge part of my childhood and I adore Soul Train. So much. Love, peace, and soul.

Shannon Lovejoy (smlovejoy) | 43 comments I finished Sycamore Row last night. Well, this morning. Early this morning. Thanks, allergies. It's like most of John Grisham's other books - fairly easy to read, gets a little dry when detailing the legal stuff, and a twist at the end that'll make your stomach flip. I can envision the movie for this book already. I just hope everybody isn't sweating like they were in the A Time to Kill movie. Next for me will be Hyperbole and a Half: Unfortunate Situations, Flawed Coping Mechanisms, Mayhem, and Other Things That Happened.

I mentioned in another thread that my favorite book I've read recently is Bill Bryson's One Summer: America, 1927. It's fascinating how much occurred in that one summer (Charles Lindbergh's trans-Atlantic flight, the Mississippi flood, Al Capone, Sacco and Vanzetti, etc.) I couldn't put the book down.

I recently started Annabelle Gurwitch's new book I See You Made an Effort: Compliments, Indignities, and Survival Stories from the Edge of 50. I've been a fan of Gurwitch since her days co-hosting TBS's Dinner and a Movie.

I am currently devouring Face the Music A Life Exposed by Paul Stanley Paul Stanley's new autobiography. Paul is the last of the original members of KISS to write a memoir. He always claimed it was because he thought autobiographies were self-indulgent, but it turns out that his was the saddest upbringing and he's full of insecurities you wouldn't expect. On the other hand, he is frequently quite a jerk about the other three guys.

Shannon, Hyperbole and a Half is so good! I keep my copy on my coffee table to just peruse now and again.

I have been busy reading!
The Goldfinch was amazing. I have to be honest and say that I loved it more than The Secret History and I adored that novel. Way to go Donna Tartt!
Also, Greg Iles is back and I was hooked from page one of Natchez Burning.
I am currently reading another author whose previous novels I have loved. Visible City is great so far. And if you haven't read anything else by Tova Miris, I highly recommend her.

I had so much fun reading Judy Greer's new book I Don't Know What You Know Me From: Confessions of a Co-Star I Don't Know What You Know Me From Confessions of a Co-Star by Judy Greer . You will immediately try to figure out where you knew her from. I knew her from What Women Want.

Shannon Lovejoy (smlovejoy) | 43 comments Since we last "spoke," I've read Hyperbole and a Half: Unfortunate Situations, Flawed Coping Mechanisms, Mayhem, and Other Things That Happened (which I LOVED), Enter Talking (meh), and Uganda Be Kidding Me ('tis ok). I'm currently reading Frog Music and I wish I could just sit long enough to finish it! This warm weather has me wanting to do other things...

Next I will probably read whichever Barbara Kingsolver book that's on my nightstand. I don't remember which one it is. I haven't bought Natchez Burning yet but as soon as I do, it'll move up to the #1 spot on my to-read list.

I need to take a year off from...well, everything...to get my to-read list under control. Seriously.
