Cathrine Goldstein | 26 comments Hi All --

Just wondering if any of you write a Goodreads blog...? Anyone have an opinion on a Goodreads blog versus "other" blog?

Also -- I'm new to this group and would really appreciate FB "likes" and Twitter followers! If anyone is interested:

FB: www.facebook.com/AuthorCathrineGoldstein

and Twitter: @CathrineGold

Thanks!! I will "like" and "follow" you as well!

Karla | 8 comments I'm not too sure what you mean by a goodreads blog ? Like focusing in goodreads?

message 3: by C. (new)

C. Cales (scarybob) | 10 comments Karla, I think she means a blog on Goodreads.

message 4: by Karla (new)

Karla | 8 comments Ohh. Lol thanks. But how does that work?

Noob here :(

message 5: by C. (new)

C. Cales (scarybob) | 10 comments hahahaha… I have nooooooo idea, Karla. I suspect it's much like this except on a platform that crosses group boundaries. That's my guess anyway. It's like when somebody screams "Incoming!" You don't know what it's about, but you're about to find out.

Cathrine Goldstein | 26 comments Lol!! Yes, a blog on Goodreads. Just curious if anyone is writing one -- thanks!

Kyra Halland (kyrahalland) I write on my regular blog, and it automatically posts to my Goodreads blog (you can set that up in the settings somewhere). I probably get a few views that I wouldn't get otherwise. It seems to help to have an eye-catching image right at the top of the post, to catch people's attention in their update feeds.

It does take some time, sometimes a day or more, for the new blog post to show up on the Goodreads blog.

Karla | 8 comments Oh that's so cool! And how can we set it up?

message 9: by Lenore (new)

Lenore Sagaskie | 88 comments I blog on Goodreads. I have a website and limited space so blogging on Goodreads is an easy option for me.

Here's a peek, in case you're interested:

It's on your Goodreads blog, under blog settings. There's a place where you enter the RSS feed for your external blog (I think it tells you how to find that).

Karla | 8 comments Ohh thank you. But I mean how do we set up a goodreads blog in the first place?

message 12: by G.G. (new)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 169 comments If you are an author it's automatically there. No need to set anything. For others, I don't know. Can they have one?

message 13: by Karla (new)

Karla | 8 comments Very interesting.

Abraham Lopez | 11 comments Yes, I noticed this option just a little while back, and have just recently started posting some musings (hopefully more often in the future). Here's a link to mine if anyone's interested...

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 169 comments I put some exercises from an online course on mine along with a prologue I've rewrote.
I think it's fun to have a place to share stuff.

As far as I know, only author accounts have blogs with them.

I've got the publicize feature doing that for my Facebook, Twiiter, and Tumblr pages. Under the Wordpress publicize feature I don't see a way for it to copy to my Goodreads blog. How did you do that?

message 19: by A.L. (new)

A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 266 comments Yes, I believe it is author account only, which seems a bit mean. I keep forgetting about mine as I haven't worked out how to post from Wordpress onto it.

Hi Cathrine,

I'm game with swapping "likes" on FB and meeting fellow authors. I'm at http://www.facebook.com/TalesUnlimited

It's a writer's fan page, which I hope you'll find useful/fun. Good luck with your writing!

Thanks. Feel free to "steal" whatever you need.

As for your blog question, my advice is to blog anywhere you can (your website, FB, Goodreads, etc). Goodreads is simpler to update than a website (believe me!) and cuts straight to the readers/authors. Non-Goodreads blogs won't have that kind of punch - unless you've already got a following.

Well, that's my two cents. Hope it was of use.

Hey Ken,

I'd be happy to swap FB likes. Here's my page (below). Just shoot me a message when your page is up an running.

Go to your author page. Hit "Home" and then looked for "Visit Dashboard" (right side of the screen). Hit that, scroll down, and you should see something about a blog.
