So this works for one of my team challenges. I can probably start it on Saturday or wait until the beginning of next week. If you have other stuff going on and want to wait I can pick something else. It's no biggie! I'm working straight through until next Friday, UGH, so I'll be even slower than normal. I'm so over Christmas, lol.

I have the next In Death book Buddy Read starting Saturday, and a group read for Fatal Flaw starting on Monday. Wednesday wraps up The League series buddy read, so if we were looking at next week, I probably wouldn't be able to start it until Friday.

However, I JUST finished a book, like within the past few minutes and have reviewed it. I can start this right now, and just put comments under spoilers if necessary. It's been years since I read Grave Mercy, so I might be a bit confused!

I don't mind at all! I just looked at my review for Grave Mercy, and I read it over 3 years ago! Reading several reviews, I think I can do Dark Triumph well enough. Gonna make it your call--re-read the first one or no?

I was July 2012! Starting the second one then!

That would be great, if it works out. I've tried to leave myself mostly open because work is kicking my butt right now. I think it's manageable though! If not, I would definitely be interested in reading it next month.

Of course I had to work late again and had very little reading time today. So I'll be starting this in the morning. I'm only scheduled to work 6 hours tomorrow so I should be able to get some reading in after work. We'll see! Have you started yet? Are you lost or is it coming together okay?

I've started it, but I'm reading it in tandem with two other buddy reads, so it's slow going for me. I'm not very lost, from what I read in reviews, it overlaps the ending of Grave Mercy a bit, but told from a different point of view. I'm liking it so far!

I am so sorry, Trea. I promise I'm not trying to ignore this! I've only had a little bit of reading time over the weekend. I'm hoping to catch up and finish over the next couple of days!

I'm up to Ch. 19- (view spoiler)[ Oh boy! How would you like to have a Father like d'Albret? Scary! No wonder his kids are screwed up. Umm, and then the whole Julian creep factor!

I wouldn't do very well in a setting like that. I could never keep up with all of the games these people play. Reminds me of Game of Thrones and I'm a terrible liar and just avoid it. I can't pull it off, lol.

They just killed those men at the hunting cabin they were hiding in. I like de Waroch. I even remember liking him in the first book, although I don't remember why exactly. It's good that Sybella got out of there when she did. There were just too many close calls!! I'm off to bed but I'll pick it back up in the morning. (hide spoiler)]

I'm up to Chapter 29 -(view spoiler)[ What is going on with the Abbess? She is such a Bitch!! I think that Sybella's identity needed to be confirmed to at least a few people, but she did not have to do it that way! And for her to be mad that Sybella left her post no matter the danger she was in! She was freaking taken! It was just a matter of time before she was found out anyways. I really despise that woman.

Sybella hasn't seen or spoken to Beast yet. My nerves are all jumbled for her! (hide spoiler)]

I'm a terrible BR this month :(

I finished last night. I really enjoy this series. I don't Loooooove it but I do enjoy it. It makes me think of the Sevenwaters trilogy by Juliet Marillier or a little like Arthurian legends. Well except for all the magic and sorcery in those. It's the setting and religions.

Anyway- (view spoiler)[ Shortly after my last spoiler, the Abbess tried to force Sybella to go back to d'Albret's house. Manipulating her to save her friends. OMG, that woman!!!! She's willing to sacrifice anyone to get the Glory from the assassin's. I also think she's up to something else. And she held a special hatred for Sybella! Wow, she really riled my feathers. I'm thinking/hoping she gets hers in the last book!

Luckily, Beast was there to save Sybella. How could she not fall in love with him? I did! He didn't judge her, just absolved her time and again.

And the story of her baby broke my heart! Even of her and Julian. It was sick, how he loved his own sister, but growing up in a household like that what do you expect? I felt sorry for the guy. Was it wrong? Definitely! But I think he earned his redemption in the end. It's like he never even knew that it was wrong until she told him.

I was so glad that she was able to kill d'Albret! I know that doesn't magically fix everything but at least that monster is dead. She was able to get her revenge and get away into the night with her love. (hide spoiler)]

Don't feel bad, I'm a worse BR this month! I haven't been able to read it much and am still back where I was. I'm hoping to read it more now, and finish it today.

I did wind up finishing it today, as I've been sick with a cold. It wasn't bad, definitely different than what I am used to! I might wait a bit to read the last book in the series.
