Cary (vortigern) Everything seems to revolve around Eric and Sookie. I like Bill myself. But truth be told. The character I like the best is Lafayette. Aids Burger is just the coolest. I love the things Lafayette says. Like when Tara finds out through ditzy Sookie that Lafayette has been held by Eric and savagely torutured. Anyway Tara goes to Lafayettes house to cheer him up and he says." I ain't got the time to take care of your ass or give you any love right now Tara. I just been held captive and tortured by vampires. Now get out my house bitch" One the way out Tara says. "Love you too Lafayette." Something like that anyway. Lafayette is one hard character. Breaking all drag queen sterio types. His character may change entirely this season. But after drinking Erics blood I wonder.

message 2: by Shanon (new)

Shanon (boban) I like True Blood for the side stories more than the Sookie/Bill/Eric struggle that is sure to come up. I enjoy watching Sookie and her men but what makes the series special is the differences - Lafayette, Tara, even parts of Jason's story. If the producers stuck to the storyline from the books 100% I don't think I'd be to into it, but then I don't re-read books very often for the same reason, I need suspense and wonder in my entertainment :)

Layfayette is also my favorite character right now. I think he holds the most promise for some great events in this season.

message 3: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) I can't wait to see more of Lafayette's interaction with the vamps. His quick wit is awesome.

And Jessica is bringing a lot of humor to the show. I'm enjoying seeing the experiences of a new vamp and the mischief she's getting up to. Plus, she's bringing out a whole different side of Bill that's fun to see.

jessica83 Ward (stardustw83) | 32 comments I really do enjoy Sookie although at time im a little frustrated with her.

message 5: by Siempre (new)

Siempre (josiehaustin) | 91 comments I love Pam. She is so awesome. I wish she was a little more funny like in the books.

message 6: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) I agree with Michelle Jessica is a fun character and she does make Bill much more likeable. I think Lafayette is bringing out a whole new side to Eric as well. Helping him see humans as more than pets as he once referred to Bills attraction to Sookie. "You must pardon Bill. He is unusually attached to his human pet." This shows the esteem in which Eric holds all humans. He is very much interested in Bills behavior over Sookie, and is trying to undertand it.

Ranata Clark (thatchicknata) Shanon wrote: "I like True Blood for the side stories more than the Sookie/Bill/Eric struggle that is sure to come up. I enjoy watching Sookie and her men but what makes the series special is the differences - L..."

Shanon, I agree. I really like the side stories and the other characters. I actually don't even really like Show Sookie. LOL. I know she's the main character and won't die but sometimes I wish somebody would eat her! I really like Lafayette, Jessica and Tara. I'm totally glad they kept him and they created Jessica because she's fun.

Ranata Clark (thatchicknata) Cary wrote: " I agree with Michelle Jessica is a fun character and she does make Bill much more likeable. I think Lafayette is bringing out a whole new side to Eric as well. Helping him see humans as more than ..."

I think Eric is trying to figure Sookie out and is really intrigued with her and her ability to not even be afriad of the the vamps at all. Her slapping him was really bold considering what he could have done to her (AIDS Burger Dude anybody?). That should tell her something about him but I think she's just seeing him as a asshole. LOL

message 9: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) Ranata, I want to smoosh Sookie's face in a lot of the time! Her scenes with Eric after she found out about Lafayette are more along the lines of how I envision the character. And show the side of her that I think intrigues Eric. She sometimes seems too...dreamy & stoned.

Josiehaustin, I LOVE Pam. The dry delivery gets me every time. Ah, the pumps. When you think about it, she's not in the books much until Dead to the World, so I hope Ball gives her more to do! I've loved every scene with her so far.

message 10: by Siempre (new)

Siempre (josiehaustin) | 91 comments My favorite Pam moment was when Sookies house got burned down and Pam was like I heard your house burned down.

message 11: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) Better was "I got shot." "Oh, too bad."

message 12: by Cary (last edited Jul 19, 2009 07:47AM) (new)

Cary (vortigern) Ranata wrote: "Cary wrote: " I agree with Michelle Jessica is a fun character and she does make Bill much more likeable. I think Lafayette is bringing out a whole new side to Eric as well. Helping him see humans ..." I also think Jessica has made Bill look more likable. I also think Sookie is to ditsy in TrueBlood to even consider what Eric is capable of. Plus she trusts in Bill to protect her. At this point she thinks Eric is discusting. She likes Bill and feels safe and protected when she is with him. I see things with an unbiased eye I think. Liking both Bill and Eric. I forget which part of the books it is in. Where they are discussing Bills ability to handle Eric. The exact words were "Eric is old and very strong but Bill could get lucky so the outcome of an engagment between them is uncertain". That is basically what was said. She certainly doesn't slap any vamps in the book.

message 13: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) Since Ball has made Eric more ruthless and cold in the show than we ever saw through Sookie's point of view, I'm anxious to see how he effects the turn-around.

Any Eureka fans here? Nathan Stark is playing Stan!

message 14: by Kenna (new)

Kenna (kennas) I really like Lafayette just because during most of his screen time hillarity ensues. Most of the time. Pam is another one of my favorites. That character translates to TV very well.

Book wise...Team Bubba. He likes cats.

message 15: by Amy (new)

Amy (mommabear) | 7 comments I loved reading all the books, but the show TrueBlood is so fun and entertaining. I love the development of Lafayette's character and what is happening with Jason's character is crazy too. I agree about the side stories. They round off the show very well. Lafayette's character was too good to kill him off like they did in the book. They are also doing so much more with MaryAnne's character too. I don't try to compare the books with the series. Great entertainment.

message 16: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) Favorite character TrueBlood Lafayette, and Sarah(will your pray with me?) Newlin, LOL.

message 17: by Ranata (new)

Ranata Clark (thatchicknata) Cary wrote: " Favorite character TrueBlood Lafayette, and Sarah(will your pray with me?) Newlin, LOL."

I like Sarah too! She's so sweet but then Jason made her so kinky in his fantasy..LOL

message 18: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) Sarah just gets better and better. The reward she gave Jason in episode 5 Never Let Me Go just rocked. Jason didn't need to fantasize. Sarah is a for real kinky ditsy girl. Sarah and Jason are just fit for each other.

message 19: by Susan (Suz) (new)

Susan (Suz) (sharney) I have to say I am really like Jessica in the show, at first it kind of annoyed me but I find she is very funny! And I also really like LaFayette, he is just a crack up! And Yes Michelle: Any Eureka fans here? Nathan Stark is playing Stan! I noticed that on the preview, very excited about that, he's a nice addition to the eye candy!:)

message 20: by Cary (last edited Jul 20, 2009 01:12PM) (new)

Cary (vortigern) Eureka looks good. I am more into the plot of televison shows, and acting ability of charaters than the than how good looking the actors are. English TV is way different than American TV in this respect. Because English TV uses characters for the quality of their acting, and the way their looks resemble the actual character they are portarying. Not just good looks alone. However TrueBlood has gotten very lucky in that they have gotten hot good looking and extremely talented actors. Lafayette, Bill, Sookie, Eric, and Jessica being the favorites. Bill being well liked by most people out of high school. I even heard someone even desribe Sookie as a ditsy hillbilly. You just hand that ditzy hillbilly and the doll booze bottles over to me. I'll take them with her! That really cluesless Sarah Newlin I will take her too!

message 21: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kathry) Shanon wrote: "I like True Blood for the side stories more than the Sookie/Bill/Eric struggle that is sure to come up. I enjoy watching Sookie and her men but what makes the series special is the differences - L..."

Exactly, the side stories are great. Secondary characters with limited lines that force a viewer to remember them are pretty talented, such as Pam. She's a favorite of mine. I love any interaction between Eric and Pam. I liked Lafayette before but now I'm super curious to see where he is headed since his dungeon experience. I love Jessica's character and her interaction with Hoyt. I really like Terry and Andy as well.

message 22: by CindyToo (new)

CindyToo | 107 comments I think I have to say the TB Jason Stackhouse is my fave but maybe it's just since he was so *un*likeable in the books. I also like Jessica and Lafayette a lot too but Jason cracks me up. Check out the way his eyebrows knit together when the Revs wife starts talking about Mary Magdalene....

That's funny, Jason is probably my least favorite character. I think the actor is doing a good job, I think the entire cast is excellent, but I can hardly listen to Jason anymore, he's such a dunce. But I have high hopes! Being on the inside of the FOTS, I'm hoping that he will come to his senses and help his sister out. Jason as a real hero sounds good :)

message 24: by CindyToo (new)

CindyToo | 107 comments Omigosh, the premedicated dick line was one of the funniest in the show so far.

message 25: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) Cary, Eureka is a tad hokey, but I absolutely love it. Colin Ferguson has great comedic timing. It's fun family fare with crazy plots.

message 26: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 73 comments I love Lafayette he's way more interesting on True Blood then he was in the book. I really dislike Tara and she was also a very minor character in the book. I'm happy they expanded Lafayette's plot line though, and they didn't get rid of him like he was in D.U.D.

message 27: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) Lafayette freaking rocks. It's like Sam said when Lafayette came back asking for his old job. " Of course Lafayette the place wouldn't be the same without you."

message 28: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (emoonae) | 225 comments Cindy wrote: "I think I have to say the TB Jason Stackhouse is my fave but maybe it's just since he was so *un*likeable in the books."

I don't have a favorite TB character, but right now Jason's storyline in True Blood is the most interesting to me. He's so impressionable, I can't wait to see what they'll get him to do next!

Cindy wrote: "Omigosh, the premedicated dick line was one of the funniest in the show so far."

That whole conversation was hilarious! I love how they try to find a biblical equivalent to vampires. That one guy says vampirism is the mark of Cain as the first evil in the world (like we haven't heard that as a justification for discrimination before).

Then "the Lukenator" makes a failed attempt at etymology by saying that actually Eve was the first evil and "that's why it's called 'eve-il'". I laughed so hard at his unintentional Harvey Korman impersonation that at first, I missed the "premedicated choice to be a dick" line and had to rewind my DVR.

That discussion reminded me so much of theological arguments "good Christians" had all the time (and they probably still do) when I was growing up in my hometown.

message 29: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) Jesus was the first vampire! He was all: Drink my blood, it'll give you special powers!

Can you imagine if Steve Newlin had overheard THAT conversation??

L O frickin L

message 30: by Cary (last edited Jul 21, 2009 07:17AM) (new)

Cary (vortigern) Yah Tara just does not fit. First of all Tara was a white girl and friend of Sookies who owned Tara's Togs and was not about to move in with Sookie. I think they put in a black Tara and let Lafayette live for racial reasons. Which is cool with me. Lafayettes character turned out to be way cool plus in the book Lafayette is a black draqueen. Nelson Ellis portryal of that part worked out great. Tara is not that good looking, not that great an actress, and the screen writters just wrote stupid lines for her. So Tara turned out to be lame. They should kill Tara off. LOL

Well Michelle I can handle a tad hokie. I am sure it is very out there. As long as its interesting and funny. I loved Pushing Up Daisys. With the Pie Maker and his girl/lover assitant who worked for the Black P.I.

message 32: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) MrsAlvarado, be careful. These boards are spoiler-filled.

Cary, it's definitely wacky, interesting and funny. Pushing Daisies was one of my favorite shows! I need to buy the DVDs. I just watched Lee Pace/Ned last night in Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day.

message 33: by Lauren (new)

Lauren I'm disappointed in the lack of Pam this season! She's such an underrated character. I love the humor she brings to the show.

LAYFAYETTE! And I am hoping for more Pam time too!

The Flooze (the_flooze) Hopefully the Pam scene next week will be longer than a 2 second glimpse!

Cary (vortigern) Yeah Pam!

I just wanted you people to know that I have my christmas list all made up. (just kidding, but not really) Im SO into that team Bubba shirt. And the anubis airlines. I love the shirts that if you didnt know the books or the show youd have no idea what it was about. Josephines shirt is uber awesome too. I like the football shirts too but the vampire at the bottom gives away what they are from.

Kenna (kennas) Yeah, the peru one made me giggle. As well as the "Bill is SO not Eric" one

Cary (vortigern) I like Bill and Eric but for straight up cool. Lafayette smokes them both!

Me too, completely smug in their ignorance of everything existing outside of their tiny, little world, circa 1960s.

message 48: by Theresa (new)

Theresa (tsorrels) In order:

Pam
Jessica
Lafayette
Tie: Bill and Eric (as his character is right now on the show)
Sam

Sadly, no Sookie on my favorites list... I just want to smack her character every time she opens her mouth on the show. Pretty much the same thing for Tara, too.

message 49: by Cary (last edited Jul 23, 2009 11:02AM) (new)

Cary (vortigern) I kinda like Sookies inoccent total love & trust for Bill and her gutsy behavior. Also I like Bill and Eric equally. TrueBlood is getting further away from the books. Bill seems so genuinly in love with Sookie. So Bill may not be the great betrayer but more of a guy decieved by Sophie Anne. Sarah Newlin I am liking better as she reveals hereself to be crazy, and less inocent. Jessica just gets sweeter every episode. "Bill you are going to give me an eating disorder" LOL

message 50: by Lauren (new)

Lauren I feel like they've sweetened up Bill and given Eric a harder edge. They say for Eric it's because he makes such a huge change they want to show the dark before the good. I'm wondering if they'll follow the same formula for Bill and reveal his imperfections- so far they've sugar coated all of the things he didn't do right in the book...like making him stab long shadow when he didnt in the book or him fighting against Lorena in the previews (I somehow dont envision that this is how it actually would happen). Curious to see how these 2 characters evolve!
