Cary (vortigern) Yeah Stan is suspicious and I could definitly swing that way. I think when the truth is revealed everyone is going to be surprised.

message 102: by CindyToo (new)

CindyToo | 107 comments I think I'm going with the "Rat is stan" too. It might also explain him showing up with his crew to get rid of any surviving witnesses against him. I'm not sure that Newlin didn't know Sookie was a plant before he got the phone call though. I don't think Sookie looked into his head until we first heard his little rant about her. Am I remembering that wrong?

message 103: by Theresa (new)

Theresa (tsorrels) Cindy, I too think that Newlin already knew about Sookie. I can't remember why I thought that and I can't rewatch the episode - it has already been deleted off the DVR - but I got the impression that he already knew who she was. Or at least had a suspicion and that call confirmed it.

I don't remember Sookie "checking in" on his thoughts before his rant.

message 104: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) Well well all know soon enough

message 105: by CindyToo (new)

CindyToo | 107 comments I'm wavering Hugo to Stan, Stan to Hugo. With AB, you just can't know...

message 106: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) That is what makes it so fun. If it was just like the book. Then like I said before. It would be just to predictable and would not be near as fun to watch.

message 107: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany (lovn_mr_darcy) | 18 comments My favorite character is Eric....im thinking Godric might push him out of the top spot though once he gets some more show time.

message 108: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) Lafayette and I hope they start giving him more airtime now that he is moving V for the vamps again. He was in true form in his brief appearance on Release Me.

message 109: by Kenna (new)

Kenna (kennas) theresa, If you have the ondemand button on your cable remote then you can watch them anytime you want. Just go to the premium channel catagoty, choose HBO and then shows, I think and TrueBlood and a bunch of others pop up. You have till october to watch the episodes before they bring up different ones.

I just checked my cable remote and it has that "Video on Demand" button!

I never took the time to figure out what that meant: I overheard one of my work colleagues talking about watching True Blood "on demand" and I thought that maybe she had somehow won or paid for some kind of special VIP viewer status. I was going to ask her for the inside scoop, but I guess she's watching the same thing I am. LOL!

message 111: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) Wow how cool. My Direct TV has a DVR and I have HBO but the guy who installed it was in such a hurry he did not even show me how the remote worked except for the most basic stuff. I cannot find a Video on Demand. Mine is satelite not cable so the remote is different. I know I can record episodes to watch any time with the DVR but I haven't figured that out either just to busy.

message 112: by Morgan (last edited Aug 06, 2009 06:54AM) (new)

Morgan (neimanmarxist) | 80 comments You might not have On Demand Cary. I don't have Direct, but I do have satellite as well and mine does not have OD (unfortunately!). We're thinking of switching to Verizon Fios, which hopefully has On Demand!

message 113: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) Thanks Morgan I was looking all over for the On Demand button. I do have a DVR and the ability to record shows. I am just going to have to go to Direct TV's website. As soon as I get my other business done. thanks:)

message 114: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 193 comments I don't have an 'on demand' button on my remote. And we most definately have on demand. Its a whole range of channels. The HBO package comes with HBO on demand. You may just have to puruse through your channels to see if you have it.

message 115: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) One thing I have figured out is they show episodes of Trueblood evry other night on HBO. They show the last episode several times during the week. You just have to check the HBO schedule. Then on Saturday afternoon or Sunday afternoon they show the last three episodes back to back. Then on Sunday night they show the new episode at 8:00 & 10:00. In Tulsa Oklahoma area anyway. So I would say that goes for any one living in Central time. HBO is divided into HBO East and HBO west however. I believe Tulsa is considered HBO East. I will have to double check on that however. :)

Allison (helloarkansas) | 158 comments It's right before channel 300 for me, so I guess channel 299? Or it might even be channel 300 idk but it says, "HBO on Demand." :)

Cary (vortigern) Wow I really appreciate all this info. Thanks very much to you all, Cary :)

message 119: by CindyToo (new)

CindyToo | 107 comments My remote button says "vod" for video on demand. My HBOs are 300 through 314.

message 120: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) Man I am so afraid I am gonna hit the wrong button and delete everything, LOL. I have a DVR. I just have not figured out how to schedule and record with it. It has DVR Schedular and I can record shows from my computer or a cell phone. I noticed I was missing shark week trying to figure this all out. So I have given it a break for awhile.

message 121: by Cassidy (new)

Cassidy Savage (savagegy6) I love Jessica and Hoyt's relationship and Eric is my lust factor, I liked him better than Bill in the books too. :) Lafayette is so funny and fun to watch. I just love this show...aaawwwww....hehe

message 122: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) I didn't like Eric or Bill any better than one or the other in the books or on TV. Eric as soon as he found out Sookie was a Telepath did nothing but try to take her from Bill. By direct threat and by constant sexual insinuations. I think Bill came on an errand from the Queen but he really did love Sookie. So both Bill and Eric had sneaky ulterior motives when they first met Sookie.

message 123: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany (lovn_mr_darcy) | 18 comments Man i need to read the books...do you think they have them at the library?

I agree with that but I just liked Erics' personality more in the books and then, without spoiling what could happen but probably wont in the show, that one book of Sookie and Eric (ya know which I'm talkin' about :) was really good! And in the show, the guy that plays Eric got ten times hotter when he cut that nasty hair! lol But you're right, they both have been bad news for Sookie along with everyone else she's dated in the books. Anyone else notice her turn into a big tramp in the books after discovering Bills original motives? lol

Yes, Tiffany, every True Blood fan must read the books. They're just sooo good! :)

message 125: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) Wow, I never thought of her as trampy at all. She's had sex with three guys, and in every situation, she's evaluated them before getting into bed with them and thought they'd have a lasting relationship...until some supe craziness mucked it all up!

message 126: by Theresa (new)

Theresa (tsorrels) I never thought she was a tramp either. In my book, sleeping with people that you think you may start a life with does not equal tramp.

message 127: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) Well yah all the guys in Sookies life are trouble. I am having real problems thinking of one who is not. Her brother Jason? Alcade is the one who got Debbie Pelt after Sookies ass. Nial who is just an aquaintence really got her kidnapped and tortured by Fairy assasins. Sookie just takes a lickin in every book, and keeps on tickin LOL. Beat near to death by the Ratrays, kidnapped and attempted rape, Staked, shot, beat up, and finally kid nap and torture. But being 25 and only having slept with three guys. She is well clear of being a tramp.

message 128: by Theresa (new)

Theresa (tsorrels) Sam is a pretty stable guy in her life if I recall correctly. But you have a point, Cary, most of the guys in Sookie's life cause her nothing, but grief. Maybe not directly, but their just being in her life brings unwanted attention down on her.

message 129: by CindyToo (new)

CindyToo | 107 comments I don't understand the folks who don't like Eric because he tried to *take* Sookie from Bill. People can't be taken if they don't want to be...

message 130: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany (lovn_mr_darcy) | 18 comments I went to the freaking library and they didnt have Dead Until Dark OR Interview with a Vampire...WTF????

message 131: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) Tiffany you have to go to your local libraries online catalogue. Look at all the branch libraries. Find the book and check it out and have it delivered to the library nearest you. If you just check one library you will never find anything. Nowdays almost all libraries have the complete Sookie Stackhouse collection. You must live way out in the stix if none of your libraries have Sookie or Anne Rice.

message 132: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) Cindy, I agree. But I guess they don't like him for purposefully interfering. The way Eric is in the books, I just see him as providing other options!

message 133: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) I think people can definitly be taken away if they don't want to be. Eric used his blood to gain a foothold on Sookie. He is just a no holds barred player. If you like that kind of ruthlessness. Well it can backfire on you. But staying on topic for this one discussion anyway, and that being you can't take a person away if they don't want to be taken. If I came up to another guys wife, and was a millionare, and he was just your basic guy who was attractive but never did interesting things. I would like take fly her to see U2 in Europe. Or take her Shark diving in the Cocos Islands. Or whatever her heart desired. YeahI could take her away. Taking someone away from someone else has to do with how content they are with who they are with, and what you have to offer. Sookie really loved Bill. Enough to risk her life to go to Mississippi to save him. Then Eric played his trump card and made Bill fess to his mission for the queen. Started making excusses for Sookie to drink more of his blood, and lavishing gifts on her. Something Bill had not done. Becase he had really fallen in love with Sookie and new she was the kind of girl who could take care of herself. So its all just the right set of circumstances to take somone who really and deeply loves someone else.

message 134: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) Cary: "Taking someone away from someone else has to do with how content they are with who they are with, and what you have to offer."

I think THAT is our point. If you are in love and content and the relationship is solid, pretty baubles shouldn't sway you and you can't be "taken."

If there are problems, then someone flaunting options at you can make you CHOOSE another person. But you still CHOOSE to be taken. The other person can't MAKE you choose them just by presenting an alternative.

I think words like take and steal when used in the context of "you stole my girlfriend" are merely the words of bitter people who failed in some way and need to place the blame elsewhere. Or they just don't understand that the relationship wasn't as perfect as they thought.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Now, if a vamp glamoured someone into leaving their significant other, making them incapable of choice, THAT would be taking.

message 138: by Becky (new)

Becky | 93 comments bill is sookies first love. how many ppl in here or ppl that you know are still with their first love? prob none. and eric didnt lavish her with baubles. he gave her a driveway and door and cell phone and paid her for keeping him safe/saving his life. eric TAKES CARE OF SOOKIE. always has always will. bill can suck it.

heh @ dont hate the player....

message 139: by CindyToo (new)

CindyToo | 107 comments Exactly...people who blame the "taker" just don't want to examine or admit how they failed in the relationship.

message 140: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 193 comments I agree with this to a certain point. I do think there's something wrong about actively pursuing someone you know is taken. Its one thing to make your intentions known, and make yourself available. But an entirely different ball of wax to lurk around the corner waiting for your chance to pounce or picking at the weak spots in the relationship hoping to cause something to break.

But I suppose that's all a matter of opinion. I prefer the gentlemanly approach. Its how my husband won me, actually.

I agree with your assessment about Sookie. She is no tramp. She kept her virginity for quite a long time and under the circumstances, I would have acted exactly like her. She is the energizer Sookie.LOL

I really think Eric is being true to his nature. After all, he was a Viking and what they wanted....they got. Eric is not a gentlemen like Bill. I am glad they have stayed with their true personalities. I have dated men that were Viking-like and Gentlemen-like and I chose a gentleman in the end and have been married for 25 years. Vikings take alot of maintenance...LOL.

message 143: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) This is gonna be a long one!

Jessica, I see what you mean, but that's looking at it from the other side. The side of the person who's lost their significant other to someone else.

It's very predatorial to go after someone who's already in a relationship, and in polite spheres, you're supposed to just accept and acknowledge that someone isn't free and leave them be.

But to me, that's only for the sake of being polite. If some chick went after my boyfriend, I'd think she was outta line, but moreso I'd expect my man to tell her in no uncertain terms that her advances are unwelcome. The weight of responsibility is his to bear. She owes me nothing.

If he allows her to continue, well, he ain't the man for me then, and I'm not the right woman for him.

I've had men pursue me while I've been attached. Sometimes it's worked, sometimes it hasn't, all based upon how happy I was in my relationship.

If the pursued doesn't discourage the pursuer, I can't blame them for continuing the hunt. Giving off mixed signals gives the pursuer hope. And in the case of Sookie and Eric, she left the door open for him. She was attracted to him, she didn't refuse his "gifts" (even if they weren't of a romantic nature), and she often relied upon him for help. Mixed signals indeed from a girl who used to try to deny a connection between them. And mixed signals means the hunt continues! It ain't pretty and neat, but what about life is?

message 144: by Becky (new)

Becky | 93 comments i agree that its sookies responsibility to tell whoever advances on her that she is taken. she did it with calvin. like quinn told bill in the last book before they fought, "you are the past". billed fooled sookie far worse than eric. bill lead her to believe he was some southern gentleman coming back home to mainstream. he just got lucky finding her in merlottes. eric on the other hand never acted like anything but the viking he is. sookie has gone into her relationship with eric with eyes wide open.

message 145: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 193 comments Sookie telling Eric she wasn't interested would have been wasted breath. Its certainly easier on her to just try to ignore him. Not that its worked out that well. I just find it wrong to pursue someone the way he does, knowing that Sookie is taken. Its one of the character flaws about him that irks me terribly.

message 146: by Becky (new)

Becky | 93 comments some ppl just must not read previous postings. that or they have selective memory.

message 147: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) I can understand how his determination and his being pushy could be seen as distasteful.

My tolerance levels for that behaviour are different. She never seemed to push back all that hard after the first book, and to me he never crossed the line into creepy or forceful, so I find it acceptable in the context.

But I personally like cocky arrogance tempered with flirtatious flair. I had a guy with that same attitude pursue me. He exasperated me to BITS, but could also make me laugh more than anyone and was very consistent and reliable. In the process of him trying to "wear me down," he became one of my closest friends. So I can easily see the transition with S & E and don't view his behaviour as negative.

I'm sure another woman would slap the bejesus out of such a man for his impropriety. I found it endearing over time. To each their own!

message 148: by Kenna (new)

Kenna (kennas) After being married for 12 years today (till death do us part aside), I can honestly say that for me its not about what someone does to steal me away, its what my husband does to keep me that makes me stay. A relationship is something you have to work at to keep going.

In the books it shows that Sookie is becoming increasingly irritated because she puts fourth so much in their relationship and sacrafices so much (including her paycheck)and Bill does nothing to reciprocate. He gives his money to the Bellefleurs and nothing to Sookie. Eventually, when he starts the directory, not even his time.
Also, if you stop and think about it, Eric didnt really give her anything inappropriate. He complained about her driveway and she said that she didnt have the money to fix it after missing so much work. He felt bad because it was his fault as well as Bills so he compensated her for it by Buying her the drive way. He also gave her a new coat after Debbie Pelt had the nerve to bleed all over hers when Sookie had to shoot her.

The gifts weren't frivolous, they were things that she needed and couldn't afford or were damaged. Bill bought her a pair of earrings after Sookie got mad at him about not getting her anything. She pretty much had to ASK for something from Bill but Eric gave to her freely.

message 149: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) Kenna, "Debbie Pelt had the nerve to bleed all over hers when Sookie had to shoot her."

LOL. Awesome.

PS: I agree.

message 150: by Kenna (new)

Kenna (kennas) Awww! As a PERFECT example of my husband doing nice things to keep me around (because we all know how I feel about being married in the first place) Jason went out and bought me the first season of True Blood in my very own DVD set for our anniversary! *squeeeee*
