You're so right!!! But I had such great hopes of attaining this level.......probably not going to happen now! However I'm enjoying the variety of books that I'm reading,so I guess that's something to smile about!!

You've read so many, Mary. Way to go!
I know what you mean about going off on a reading tangent. Some times you just have to. :)

Wow! So many! Congrats.
I have slowed down a lot on my reading but I managed to reread a couple of faves today. So 5 stars for sure. Ardently: A Pride and Prejudice Variation and Fate and Consequences: A Tale of Pride and Prejudice. Highly recommend both.
Mary I am right there with you on possibly not making Mr Bennet's library this year!! I've had way too many ARCs pushed at me already this year, and need to catch up on my reviews. Plus I became serious about buying a house and have made an offer on one about a week and half ago, so it is one thing after another. Inspection was yesterday, then mom and I stalked several rummage sales. Needing to get a basement specialist in to easy my mind on the foundation!!! Deadlines up to wahzoo!!! Plus working in home health full time!! My closing date is 7/29/16, but it seems so far away!! So I will keep plugging and see where I land this year!!
Erika-congrats on the house hunting!!Hope you're basement guy gives your new home the all clear and that it's full steam ahead until you have those longed for keys in your hand !! Please keep me posted!!
Speaking of Mr B's library-you could always nominate a room in your new home as such, then you could gain entry whenever you liked!!!
Of course you won't have the benefit of Sheila,Debbie or Susan's company (hope I'm not forgetting anyone), but you can still raise a toast (book based,of course) to the man himself!!
Sophia and Talia-think you both for your encouraging words!!
It's so thoughtful and kind!

Mary, your Austenesque reading list is about what my total number of books read so far for the year in all genres is. :-) I know you are only comparing with yourself and not me or anyone else, but for some perspective you have read a lot of books, and it looks like they have been ones you have enjoyed. I also read other genres and go off on tangents, so I completely understand. I have been playing around with scheduling some of my reads but haven't done that yet. My main category of reading is romance and historical romance and I also love historical fiction. I am no longer a fast reader, so I intentionally pick a very low category for the challenge. Please feel great about your reading! I think you are a superstar. It sounds like you are having a great time with your tangent. I say Mr. Bennet would approve.

Things are really progressing with the house. This is fantastic. Hope all the inspections go well. You are so wise to have them done first.
Haha, and I love Mary's idea about naming a room Mr. Bennet's library so you're already there with the challenge. :)

Paige-you are so kind!!!Yes,of course you're right-I'm probably being a little hard on myself and,in hindsight, aimed too high.
The problem was that I could see myself happily relaxing in the library, inhaling the lovely book smell, the unique polished leather smell....!
But yes,I'm really enjoying all the books I'm reading. I'm fussy-I'll only choose to buy and read a book if my GR friends recommend it. So in that way,I practically guaranteed a 5* read each time!!!
Thank you for your comments-who knew I was s superstar??! :)
Sophia and Mary, if I have a library it will be Mr Darcy's Library that I'm residing in!!!! LOL Hopefully with him in it!!! Hahaha
Oh, Mary! You ARE doing great! I've always been a fast reader as far back as I can remember, and now that I'm retired I have the time to indulge myself more or less as much as I want. As great as it is to set a goal to aim for, it can suck the enjoyment out of the reading experience if you're just trying to add books to your shelf. You're smart to limit your reading to books you're certain you'll enjoy. Paige, it's cool that you read books from various genres. I find I'm doing that less and less this year than I have previously. Now that I've joined GR, I keep finding out about JAFF with plots that really pique my interest and I can't wait to read, and this is (currently at least) definitely my favorite category of book!
And, as Erika is finding, sometimes life just gets in the way with things that are far more important than reading JAFF! Congratulations, Erika! Again, HANG IN THERE with all the pre-closing home-buying nonsense.
I sure don't feel like staying in Mr. Bennet's library if there's a Mr. Darcy's library to hang in!!
Have to write down my list...but grading essays today. I am at 34 books with 4 in my Kindle right now! Excited.Quick question...I see Mary is identifying non-JA books. Are all books eligible?
I'm familiar with everything on Mary's list but one (The Perfect Match), and all are JAFF. There are a lot of books in GR with the title "The Perfect Match" so I don't know which one it is.Sophia will confirm, but my understanding is that the book challenge for this group is strictly Jane Austen and Jane Austen-inspired.

Kudos to you, Don. Thirty-four books is great. Looking forward to see what you can do with the challenge after essays are done.
To answer your question, no, only JA related, JAFF, Austenesque fiction or non-fiction may be counted. Books that have loose connections to Austen or her works are welcome since this challenge is meant to be fun and a way to help get unread books off your shelves.
I think you saw her challenge numbers and her remark that it is lower than she wanted b/c she was indulging in mysteries and thrillers at the moment which were all in the same comment.
Looks like you have a nice reward in your four Kindle books when the grading is done. :)

Probably The Perfect Match by Lory Lilian, but there is also Pride, Prejudice, and the Perfect Match by Marilyn Brant. Maybe one of those, Debbie.

I see your recent reading has been a mixed bag, Nicole. Some good ones there, though.
Sophia wrote: "Nicely done, Nicole! Love seeing that 4.5 star for Coming of Age of Elizabeth Bennet since I just won a copy. :)"Cool that you won this, Sophia. I loved it, and you'll really enjoy it, I'm sure.
I would still be on track with my goal if I hadn't veered off on that paranormal romance series! Total read YTD: 68 (only 39 toward this challenge though). I need to stay away from the drama and get to reading!
Hey, we all read what we enjoy, Nicole. If you enjoyed the paranormal romance series, well done! Making it to the library ought to be just a motivator. It doesn't equate to failure if anyone doesn't meet their goal. Besides, the year is only half over! Plenty of time!
I always have to copy and keep a list of 5 star recommendations to refer to later...as if my own list isn't long enough. But I always keep it so thanks for this list PLUS congratulations on any and all reading you do. I also like detective or crime stories but right now I am (again) trying to finish book 7 of the Outlander series.
Ooo Outlander. I have been wanting to read that series. Last year, I said this year I would, now it is looking like next year... darn!
The first three I couldn't put down, #4 was slower but then it picked up again. There is a lot of history. I go back and read parts of #3 over and over again.I know you will enjoy them.
I loved them when they first came out Sheila. Like you the first three for me were the best. I got half way through four and just couldn't continue. I still have to finish them and it's years since I started.
Hello everyone, I've been reading your comments for some time and trying to decide if I could manage this library or not. Lord, you guys intimidate the crap out of me. Sheila told me about you when she first invited me to Goodreads. WOW! I did not know this place existed.
Don't be scared, J.W.! We're all a pretty friendly bunch. You already know a few of us. And you don't have to dive right into Mr. Bennet's library. There are challenge levels for book goals less than 101 this year, but anyone in the group can comment anywhere (including here) on the Austenesque TBR Pile Reading Challenge 2016 group.

I took that as a challenge. So far I am at book #95 so I am close. How do I post them or do I just number and list them. In bunches I'd think.
You can just list them here and/or you can set up a separate folder for yourself under the subgroup YTD Challenge Tracker. Five of us (me, Eliza, Nicole, Patricia and Abigail) keep track of our books there.

I deleted one because it was a box set and I had listed each book individually. That concludes what I have read to date. I have several yet in my TBR file. Yeah, I still have a pile because y'all keep telling me about wonderful books and I have to read them. If you see something that shouldn't be there, just let me know. JWG
Wow, Jeanne, how can you feel intimidated? You are so close and the year is only about half over. I will have to check out your list more carefully but wanted to say that you fit in so well I am not sorry at all for waving a red flag....LOL or whatever. As Debbie said there are different challenge levels and it is not shameful to start at a lower level and change groups as you reach one goal at a time. Congratulations on all the many book you have read. I see many with 4 or 5 stars so clearly you are enjoying most of them.
