Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments I'm well behind the pace I set by this time last year, but I wasn't writing reviews for every book then, either. Gotta love retired life!

That's a goodly pile. Neatly done, Sheila.
Such a variety, too. I need to read some of those mystery and spy style ones.

message 561: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments Hmmmm...Anyone else notice that the only 5s on Sheila's list are UNpublished JAFF? Lots of undiscovered talent out there!

message 562: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments Yes, I do wish they would publish - they deserve the recognition and the money!!!! I have many others I have read and not posted...some day.

message 563: by Debbie (last edited Mar 26, 2016 06:44PM) (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments As Claudine knows, I resisted unpublished JAFF for a long time because none of the first few I read were very good. I'm grateful to you and to her and to the rest of the GR community for leading me to some really excellent ones.

message 564: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments There are a lot of good ones out there. Glad you have connected with some.

message 565: by Claudine (new)

Claudine DiMuzio / Just Jane 1813 | 224 comments I'm so glad you found more JAFF to love, in whatever shape or form. That's part of what makes this community so wonderful!

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments AHA has one WIP by Lucy S. (one of my favorite authors) which is a modern P&P variation with ODC being chefs. A Pinch of Salt...if you are interested here is the link...

Wow, that is an amazing list of books you read.

message 568: by Talia (new)

Talia (kneyda) | 217 comments I read The Last of the Wine: Pride and Prejudice Continues yesterday. I love Marsha Altman and this series and am sad to see it end. I can only give it 5 stars since it is Marsha Altman. I must admit that I skipped section 3 where she describes how our favorite characters die, one after the other. (not going there) and went right for the comedic alternative ending instead. I did get the feeling that Marsha was "done" with this series throughout the book. It was a long wrap-up that lacked a lot of joy probably because she wanted the thing done. A bit of a disappointment but since it was by Marsha way better than most other JAFF.

I'd skip that part, too. I would bawl my eyes out to read about how the favorites die.

Nope!
There are a list of books that look good, but I won't go near them b/c I know they're tearjerkers.

I am such the wimp as well!! Whenever I read an unpublished JAFF story where the Epilogue goes into the end of any of our favorites' lives I weep forever!!! OMG I thought I was the only one, this is one reason why I have a box of tissues on my nightstand!!!!

Hooray! We are not alone. I didn't want to be depressed for a week so I just skipped it. Mr Darcy can never die.

Neither can Elizabeth!!! It just kills me, my mom always gives me a funny look it she caught me in the moment after reading one of those scenes!!! I have always had loosely fitting "violin strings" and sob very easily!!

I had some major meltdowns reading the Harry Potter series too. I cry during commercials. Just can't handle the sad stuff.

message 578: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments SPOILER HERE In All or Nothing Elizabeth "dies" and I was bawling so hard!!!! In another book first Darcy dies in old age and Elizabeth is visiting his grave and placing roses on it and then later it is Georgiana visiting both their graves....and here I am crying just thinking about it. I do wish authors would just end the stores when they have children and live HEA. I, too, am a wimp and have boxes of tissues all over the house where I sit in various locations to read.

Sheila, I think I went through several boxes of tissue while reading All or Nothing back in 2014 as it was being written!!! But it is a fantastic and well written story!! This is one I wish had been published!!!

message 580: by Ceri (new)

Ceri | 224 comments To be honest I think part of the reason I like reading JAFF is that I'm a wimp and due to the nature of the genre you are nearly always sure of who ends up with who and a happy ending. There is enough sadness in life without needing to look for it in my reading matter!

I agree with you Ceri.

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments Adding two good unpublished:

72. Mr Darcy's Gardener - 4 stars
73. A Rush of Blackbirds - 4 stars

Both have some flaws but both have a lot going for them, too. My detailed reviews are always posted on GR book description links.

message 589: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments 77. On Oakham Mount: A Pride & Prejudice Variation - 4 stars

Had to add this one immediately and let everyone know you really should get and read it. The writing is just so elegant and beautiful, and the author is our own Sophia Meredith (not to be confused with our fearless leader, Sophia Rose). Claudine and Sheila and I have all posted positive reviews. Check it out!

The kindle version concludes with the first chapters of her next book, Miss Darcy's Companion, and I'm looking forward to getting my hands on that one when it's released!

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments Debbie, have you read the unpublished "Forgive Me"?

message 591: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments Sheila wrote: "Debbie, have you read the unpublished "Forgive Me"?"

I don't think I've come across it, Sheila. I don't see it on Erika's list. Which web site is it on?

message 592: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments I'll send you a copy...Claudine sent it to me but never read it herself. I think you will like it. I am almost to the end.

message 593: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments You've got my interest piqued. Thank you!

message 594: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments It might be entitled: Do Two Wrongs Make a Right?"

message 595: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments Nope. Neither is Please Forgive Me, which is what the document you sent me says the title is. But I've got it now, and just forwarded it to my kindle. Still reading Unwilling: A Pride and Prejudice Vagary (which is pretty awesome so far, by the way), but I'll read the one you sent me next. Thanks again!

message 596: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments I hope you like it. I have not read Unwilling but then there are more than two or three dozen sitting on my kindle for me to read. Just keep collecting those recommended ones and can't get to all of them. Have a good day.

I need to snag this one. After reading Linda Beutler and Jennifer Joy's mysteries set at Rosings, this one sounds good, too.

Sounds like a fun variation especially with such a big change and more Anne in the picture.
