Jenny (jennyunderpants) | 668 comments Ohhh, I had it in my head that NABing a book specifically meant clicking the "Mark this as not a book". I wasn't sure if there was a different procedure for when the record never had an ISBN and wouldn't get reimported again anyway.

I'm not sure how much 'additional content' is needed for something to be considered a book, but a bunch of these calendars have additional content.

Like NOT A BOOK: Eats, Shoots & Leaves 2015 Day-to-Day Calendar: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation has quotes on each page. Is that enough to 'save' the book?



Or is something additional needed?

I would love to know the answer to this too. There doesn't seem to be a hard and fast rule from the calendars I've seen NAB'd. I've also seen one librarian call a calendar borderline, only to have another librarian NAB it later, so it seems like a total judgment call :)

My own criteria is if it seems to have any new content, like essays, recipes, or 'bonus material', I leave it alone. For example, I'm staying far far away from all of the Llewelyn's Witch Calendars. But if it's material that was already published and regurgitated into calendar form, that isn't really new (the quote in your example came from the book originally). If that's too restrictive, I'm happy to be told to NAB less :)

Johnny Depp has got to go though.

that seems to be a wooden model with a small book included.

I nabed the first one before (using this as orientation https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...) but it got de-nabed https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... by the author

I'm still thinking wooden 3D models aren't really something GR considers as a book, not even if there comes some kind of explanation which happens to be a book with them - because the main item is the model.
But after I read https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... where the including 144 pages book doesn't seem to count (and 144 pages probably have more likely a non explanatory content I assume) I thought I should ask and not just leave the models alone...
