No worries, Okie!

In my quest for Revolutionary Era romance, I ran across The Tory Widow by Christine Blevins. It's more historical fiction than historical romance, though there is definitely a strong romance element. Not quite as sexy as Donna Thorland, but quite good. There's a second one that follows the same couple, The Turning of Anne Merrick that I'm going to read as well. Both the hero and heroine are skilled printers so again there's a lot of print and book history in these books, which I love.

And in a total bit of synchronicity, I'm watching TURN, the new AMC show about Patriot Spies during the same era. It's cool to see visuals of the same locales I was just reading about!

I'm reading Satisfaction by Sarah Mayberry. I didn't realize she had self-pubbed a book. It's steamier than my usual taste but it's still got her compelling characters. And I really liked her latest, Her Kind of Trouble.
I also read More Than She Expected but didn't fall in love with it. And The Winter Bride, which started out feeling a little imitative but ended up being quite good.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 320 comments Today I read THE HEADMASTER'S WIFE, The Headmaster's Wife by Thomas Christopher Greene and I am having a tough time deciding whether/how I can review it without it being a total spoiler. I also do not know how many stars -- it hits me where I'm living now, but still....

Phoenix77 | 346 comments A few of my library holds came in this week so my cup runneth over! I started the week with When the Duke Was Wicked by Lorraine Heath. I'll follow that with Three Weeks with Lady X and Loving Lord Ash.

Susan (susaninaz) | 1075 comments Somehow, the roaring twenties are my "thing" this week. Currently reading City of Jasmine. Then I will read Far in the Wilds and A Spear of Summer Grass.

Just finished HER KIND OF TROUBLE, too, Deb. I really liked that one a lot. As always, though, I wanted an epilogue to see them all in their HEA. SM doesn't do epilogues, though. Practically the only fault I can find in her books. LOL

Just started Brenda Novak's COME HOME TO ME and I'm struggling with this one. I may need to put it down for a while and start WAITING ON YOU by Kristan Higgins.

Manda, I saw previews for that show TURN on AMC, I'll have to see if I can catch up with it. Do you like it?

Irish, I haven't finished the first episode yet. My DVR was practically smoking because I had so many shows to record Sunday night. But what I saw I liked. It doesn't hurt that there are a couple of good looking men playing the main spies so far either;) I love a man in eighteenth century garb!

Re: Sarah Mayberry, I think that's her second self-pubbed book. The first was Her Best Worst Mistake.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 320 comments I read another book today, Winter Garden Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah , and it was a very serious read, as it turns out. Mothers and daughters and family history, and maybe...hope. I will definitely need to read some lighter materials for a while.

Irish some of SMS books have epilogues but not that many. I agree HKOT would have been better with one.
