I'm almost done with my 2nd book! I was hoping to be finished with my 3rd by today! I'm a pretty fast reader but unfortunately I've been busy with work this week! :( I have my work Christmas party today and we are getting our Christmas tree tonight which means not time to read. At least I get the house to myself tomorrow while my boyfriends at work to get some reading done!! Happy Reading everyone!! I hope you guys have a wonderful weekend!!

The Full Bookshelf Reviews | 36 comments Okay, so I changed my mind; I'm doing Triangles for my second book. I just couldn't resist some Hopkins.

message 55: by Shallon (new)

Shallon J | 25 comments I think I have added the book Rook to the list, since I have yet to read it. But I am almost half way done with Illuminae, then I have like 2 or 3 more left! Plus I am going to read a bunch of extra books too I hope.

That's want I'm reading right now! :)

message 60: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (majorasbooks) | 32 comments I have a whole spreadsheet going in excel where I'm adding the books and what challenges they can fill. So far, I've read 'Drown' by Esther Dalseno (hits four) and 'A Pirate's Night Before Christmas' which I think hits four as well (my computer died yesterday so I haven't been able to update it). I'm also currently reading 'The Diviners' by Libba Bray (three) and 'Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist' by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan, which is also three. I feel like I'd have finished Nick and Norah yesterday had I not gotten a migraine and slept for five hours. Oh well!

message 61: by Ree (new)

Ree (penderghost) | 2 comments I finished my first book Letters from Father Christmas (which is really really short) yesterday and have already started on my second book Die Seiten der Welt a few days ago. I feel like I'm cheating a little bit though since some books can count for multiple challenges, but I'm doubting that I'd be able to read 11 books this month. December is the busiest month of the year!

message 62: by Amy (new)

Amy | 78 comments Mod
I've already done 7 challenges by only reading 3 books haha. I think I might not use the same books for more than one challenge aha

Sofia Kathryn Coon | 9 comments Finished Carry On and a From the Files of Madison Finn book, onto Down the Rabbit Hole. Woot!

Not_Your_Typical_Lannister (Leslie) finished:
The Secret Santa Dec 3 (Children's book)
Triumph moments ago (cultural/religious book)

-I am tracking them back on the Christmas book reading list thread

message 65: by April (new)

April Sims | 5 comments Dashing Through the Snow
by Debbie Macombe Not worth the read. I could not finish it but will post the update since I invested hours into it. It falls very flat. I am about to start the The Christmas Box Collection: The Christmas Box Timepiece The Letter

message 66: by Brittany (new)

Brittany Walker (brittanywalker) My first update video for the readathon has been posted.

message 67: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (linds0917) | 11 comments I finished The Christmas Train by David Baldacci. The first part of the book was interesting, but it got boring about 3/4 of the way through. At least it was short and easy.

I started Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez but may end up replacing it with a quicker read. I don't want to not have time for others on my list.

I also started The Marvels by Brian Selznick and am really enjoying it!

Good to know, I almost picked up a Debbie Macomber Christmas book!

The Full Bookshelf Reviews | 36 comments I think I'm going to switch up my list one more time, since Triangles will probably take a while to read.

message 70: by Not_Your_Typical_Lannister (Leslie) (last edited Dec 06, 2015 01:25PM) (new)

Not_Your_Typical_Lannister (Leslie) I am normally not one to yap about my life and adventures but I have to share what happened because of this challenge.

for: "12) As Christmas is the season of giving - Donate a book/books to your local charity, goodwill or secondhand bookstore and if you can find a good book there buy one in return and read it."

I rounded up four books to donate. Normally I just put ones I don't intend to keep in the free library and take another one in its place. But it said "a charity, goodwill, secondhand bookstore" so I asked a friend where to take these books and hopefully buy one. She said go to Value Village; its proceeds go to the Canadian Diabetes Association. I have only been there two times both for Halloween costume items long ago.

I dropped off the four books which felt great then I saw all that they had for sale. Holy smokes! There were lots. anyway a while ago I wanted to read a book that begins with Y an also one that I could read for this Readathon so I found out that a book called The Yuletide Bandit: A Seven--Year Search for a Serial Criminal had to do with events close to where I live that sounded interesting.

When I looked up where to buy it all I found was this:
 photo book_zpsysgpyvqm.jpg

An no, that is a little expensive.

So as I searched to pick out a book or two I found a signed copy of this book for $3.99!!! I also bought for that same price a brand new copy of Men With Brooms: A Sweeping Epic

I also found a copy of a very hard to find book there. I just paid $15 to have To the Grave: Inside a Spectacular RCMP Sting a used copy shipped to me. (this also happened right close to me) Because I had already bought the book I told another shopper "If by chance you want to read a really hard to find and expensive book this one is only $4. It's the Erin Chorney story." The woman said "thanks" and looked at it. She, too, bought it.

So thanks for the challenge idea and the great experience it provided me.

message 71: by Amelia (new)

Amelia (ameliab12) Just finished my first book last night - The Next Together (red and green on the cover). I really enjoyed it! And would recommend for those who love a little romance and time travel but the ending was a little bit too sudden and left me slightly confused but apparently there will be a sequel? Who knows! About to start my 2nd book - Does My Head Look Big In This? (different culture) :D

message 72: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie (bonsbookishblog) | 93 comments Mod
Wow that's so good!!! Good karma for donating the books and finding some good ones in return! :)

message 73: by Michelle (new)

Michelle I finished Cinder (author I haven't read before) and starting the sequel Scarlet (recommended by friend)! They're both really really great!

Not_Your_Typical_Lannister (Leslie) Amy wrote: "I've already done 7 challenges by only reading 3 books haha. I think I might not use the same books for more than one challenge aha"

I am not. One challenge=1 book.

But for one of mine I set a goal of 'read at least 100 pages of the Stand'. It is very long but I want to push myself to start some of it in order to continue in the new year.

message 75: by Alli (new)

Alli For the book with red and green on the cover, I am just starting Doon. I wasn't sure what to read for a summer / holiday romance, so I am counting the book I just finished, Oblivion from the Lux series. I hope once finals are over next week I can really get going on this challenge!

Not_Your_Typical_Lannister (Leslie) The Full Bookshelf Reviews wrote: "I think I'm going to switch up my list one more time, since Triangles will probably take a while to read."

My list changes atleast twice a day. Until it is time to actually start another book nothing is set in stone with me.

The Full Bookshelf Reviews | 36 comments I'm going to keep reading Triangles, but I'll need to speed it up, definitely.

I'm really worried I'm not going to finish enough books in time! I've only read two so far!!

Not_Your_Typical_Lannister (Leslie) Bonnie wrote: "I'm really worried I'm not going to finish enough books in time! I've only read two so far!!"

I am just taking it as a challenge to myself to read and enjoy as much as I can. Dec. is a busy time of year and any amount of reading is good. I know I won't get more than 5 or 6 read.

message 80: by Amelia (new)

Amelia (ameliab12) Bonnie, I haven't even finished my 2nd book either! But it's okay! Just try to read as much as we can and have fun :D

Sofia Kathryn Coon | 9 comments Sofia Kathryn Coon wrote: "Finished Carry On and a From the Files of Madison Finn book, onto Down the Rabbit Hole. Woot!"

Updating: I'm about 50% done with Down the Rabbit Hole by Holly Madison and about 80% done with Moby Dick. Hoping to have both done by Sunday evening and then I can move onto The Revenant by Michael Punke as my audiobook, finishing Everybody Writes by Anne Handley and Little Victories by Jason Gay.

So almost 4 books in!

I was originally going to read The Assassin's Blade by Sarah J Maas (Title is Gold) for the challenge read a hardcover or paperback with either WHITE, GOLD or SNOW on the cover. But than I finished To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han and I HAD to continue the series! I needed to know what happens so I'm now reading P.S. I Still Love You for this challenge. It's kinda of a bittersweet moment cause I was really excited for The Assassin's Blade but I guess it means I can prolong and savor Sarah's books! I am now halfway through my 4th challenge! I should be on my 5th one tomorrow! :)

message 92: by Amelia (new)

Amelia (ameliab12) I'm currently on my 5th book. Should be able to finish today and start my 6th :D

message 93: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie (bonsbookishblog) | 93 comments Mod
Nearly finished the third book! Should be on fourth tomorrow!! Yay this is so exciting!!

The Full Bookshelf Reviews | 36 comments Okay, so I've decided that I am going to replace Triangles with Unbelievable by Sara Shepard since it's the fourth book in the PLL series and I really want to read it.

message 95: by Amelia (new)

Amelia (ameliab12) Finished my 5th book! :D can't decide what i should read next...

message 96: by Michelle (new)

Michelle I definitely won't be able to read that much. Maybe about 5 or 6 books this month.
I don't want to read too fast, because I want to be able to remember the story. And speed reading usually just ends bad for me. So I'm just gonna read just because it's fun.
Doing these read-athons usually just helps me carve out time to read.

message 97: by Brittany (new)

Brittany Walker (brittanywalker) I've finished 3 books and half way though the 4th.

I'm certainly not speed reading. Just trying to make more stringent reading goals daily for myself. Unless its been a weekend or I had the day off though, I've not hit any of them yet.

message 99: by Gina (new)

Gina | 7 comments You guys have all read so many books already!
I finished two so far and the first I actually started in November :'D But I have excuses! Well, sort of...
Anyway, I put my update on my blog today (finally):

A third way through my 4th book. I don't know if I should read Snow like Ashes or Legend after I finish Promise of Shadows. What do you guys think?
