I loved this book, read it about 20 years ago. I'm planning on going through Asimov all over again soon! If you like the detective story in this one, you'll love the two that came before it: The Caves of Steel and The Naked Sun. Do not go any further until picking those up first! The next one on your journey will be Robots and Empire which ties in with the Foundation series, so I recommend you wait until getting caught up with the robot and foundation series before continuing as there are spoilers!
This series has 3 books and 3rd book is not available for sale!I read first 2 on amazon kindle. Please suggest me how can i get 3rd.
PS: I live in India

Elijah Baley, a famous police Earth inspector (from other Asimov’s novels I haven’t read yet), is required by Han Fastolfe in Aurora, a distant planet, to discover the murderer of a roboticide. It isn’t a normal robot mental block; the future of the Earth depends on who is the murderer.
The story is, in fact, a kind of detective fiction, where the bases of the investigation are the robot nature, and the policy about colonization. Although it seems to me a little tedious at the beginning with many reasonings, it changes when you discover the characters. Especially the robots, who take an important role in the plot, helping Elijah to save the Earth. Daneel and Giskard get my liking in this book, so I love Robots and Empire, where they appear again.
Personally, I believe that the key for the amazing end is the hiding of some Elijah’s thinking, which keeps the reader in suspense until the last pages. It seems that he walked on air, but there are many things the reader doesn’t know...
What do you think?
