I only read the beginning of this book and never went back to it but it was the second or third book in a series. It would have been published within the last few years. I remember that the couple from the first book is in it but not the main characters. They are happy and having kids. I think they were like foster parents to the main male character even though he is now in his twenties. The main male character wanted to meet his mate and wanted her to be strong to help him protect his family. I think they mate when they touch. Three girls were supposed to be the mates of three guys (the main character being one of the guys) but only two of the girls mated with the other two guys. I think the last girl was a fake, not really supernatural. Some of his friends later (possibly years later I don't know)brought his real mate to his house and she is not strong but a computer genius. He is initially disappointed. They end up locking her in the bathroom. While she was in there she did something on her laptop. She went her whole life without knowing she was some type of supernatural creature (I can't remember what kind they are) which is why they mate late I believe. It is told from the POV of the male and female.
