Interesting to note that all but one comment on this book were made by ladies - what does that indicate I wonder ? Is it Chic/Lit ?

It indicates that men are sexist and don't read female authors?
I certainly wouldn't call this book "chick lit." In my understanding, that term is only used for books with a modern-day setting. It does, however, fall into a genre aimed squarely at women-- the romantic historical mystery. Most genre books like this that come out first in paperback are intended for one gender or the other, I think. Also, honestly, are many men going to pick up a book with a purple cover showing a woman standing in front of a historical mansion? All those are clues that the book is being marketed towards women. Which isn't to say that only women would actually like this book once they picked it up. My father loved to read romantic historical mysteries, and he was a very manly man. There was just something about the genre that appealed to him.

My friend Carl not only picked it up and was intrigued by the cover but loved reading it. And he's a manly man!

All of her books are ghostly mysteries. She is Not chick lit at all. All I know is that I start reading her and can't put the book down. She does ghosts without horror. The writing is good, as are the story lines. I am excited she has a new book coming out!
