They made this whole sideplot out of Nate/Lyndon. And this was a significant (timewise) and rather dark subplot. Why add this plot with the whole "Maya Knew" thing and have her staying at Noel Kahn's and not have it tie in to A or Ali or anything else the show is about? There has to be more to this story.

　　Months had passed since Castilia proposed the alliance to the leader of the Elellian Dragon Clan - Zimpika - whom did not willingly accept the proposal despite the threats Castilia made to destroy the Clan’s nests in the North. The King’s plan to unite the dragons of Elellian seemed more like a whimsical joke when he presented it to the Court of Castilia. The men jeered when the King began his explanation to why allying with Elellian would indisputably pronounce Castilia as the strongest kingdom of Maesterilyn. Although that was true and it would make Norabilia - the neighboring rival kingdom - cower under the might of Castilia, there was a clear flaw: Elellian dragons were hard to negotiate with, and if there was one wrong turn, there was no bargaining what they might do.
　　“Have you not remembered what Zimpika did to the Kingdom of Litrica when they thought of reasoning with Elellian?” A man with a dirtied face and white-blonde hair from the Court challenged the king when he finished. “Thrice the size of mighty Castilia and it still fell to Elellian in a war of dragon and men. Ask yourself, will it be worth it? Zimpika and his clan will never agree to your proposal and even if they did, they will turn against you one day.”
　　Murmurs of agreement sparked up around the table, quickly silenced by the bang of the King’s fist making contact with the stone table.
　　“I am allying with Elellian for not only our kingdom’s rightful place in Maesterilyn, but for war,” the king bellowed to the men, his eyes searching around for anyone displaying fear. “Norabilia is on the brink of starting war with our kingdom. The filthy scums believe that Celtraena belongs to them, and they will fight for it!” His eyes flashed with anger as he strode over to the man who spoke up just a few seconds ago, his ostentatiously fine cloak gliding on the marble floor behind him.
“Do you not see what I must do to guarantee the safety of our kingdom against the attacks of Norabilia?” he haughtily asked the man, his face only inches away from the man’s own.
　　“I-If you believe that Castilia is already so mighty and Norabilia inferior to the likes of our kingdom, why do you need Elellian? Kings like you will bring end to our kingdoms. Kings like you - with too much ambition and pride.”
　　The king sucked in his cheeks, yet seemed unfazed by the man’s criticism. Of course, he had always been called as such - arrogant and much too selfish. Yet, he knew he was doing the right thing. Kings were supposed to protect their kingdom - at every cost possible.
　　“Guards, toss him out!” the King ordered to the armor-laden guards standing near the entrance. Their swords were drawn, but quickly sheathed as they shuffled to stand on opposing sides by the king; their silver armor clanked with each step they took on the white marble. Slowly, both took a step forward and yanked the man harshly up under his armpits and shoved him to the floor. The remaining men around the stone table drew their breath and stayed stiller than ever; one started to pray to the gods.
　　The King chuckled softly before his laugh turned into a pitying sneer. “Yes...” he drawled, casting a glance to the man praying, “pray to the gods that they take mercy on this man,” he paused as he diverted his stare to the man on the floor. Silent tears were pouring down his dust-covered face as he tried to beg the guards to let him go. “Kill him.” he said finally.
　　One of the guards stood forward and forced the man onto his knees and steadied his head so he was looking at ground. The other drew his sword - hilt golden and blade glinting in the sun rays escaping through a small shaft at through the roof. Although the man wasn’t struggling - unlike many others before their execution - the tears splattering on the floor were a sign that he did not want to accept his fate.
　　“I have a child and my wife to come back to, what will they think when I do not return?” he croaked weakly, but there was no reply. The men at the table looked away quickly as the sword of the guard came crashing down to the man’s neck. A soft thud indicated that his head had hit the floor, and the louder one following that was his body landing next to it. A pool of blood had poured out of the man’s headless neck, and more was dripping from his head.
　　Picking up the head, the king’s lips curled into a satisfied smile. “Another trophy, then?”
　　Silence.
　　The praying man quickly stood up and began to run out of the exit, screaming to an unknown person about saving “Jerome’s soul”.
　　“Go after him,” the king ordered, but the guards were already beginning to clank after the running man.
　　“S-sire,” a man stuttered from the table. “M-my name’s Gredilik... W-why did...” his voice wavered away for a few seconds. Seeming to regain his courage, Gredilik spoke a little louder. “Why did you not tell us about Norabilia?” he asked hesitantly. “We ought to have known about their evil givings....”
　　“You would’ve found out sooner of later, I reckon,” was his simple explanation.
　　No one argued or said another word as the king began to present his plan to the rest of the men.
