I just started the eBook of The Other Typist. I'm only about 30-40 pages into it but so far I'm enjoying it.

It's about a woman working as a stenographer for the New York Police Department in 1923.

Despina | 31 comments I just finished " The Emperor of Paris, " by CS Richardson, which was a nice, short read.
I am still struggling with " Villa Triste," by Lucretia Grindle, which is an intriguing book but she is so long winded about everything and writes everything in minute detail that a good story has turned tedious. I have read so many books in between reading this one, and I have contemplated giving up on " The Villa Triste," but of course, I have to know what happens!

Hellen (Hellenhada) | 1 comments I just started The Last Battle, non-fiction about 1945 end of the war where American GIs work with the Wehrmacht to free political prisoners in a castle prison in Austria before the Nazis murder them. Very smooth reading so far. I am deliberately avoiding the footnotes otherwise I will be reading it until June.

Suddenly I am wondering why I never read the Game of Thrones book series. However, I am now told that Maurice Druon's series "The Accursed Kings" inspired George R.R. Martin to write his series. Where to start I have no idea.

This weekend I read Notes from the Internet Apocalypse. It was a fun book about what would happen if the Internet crashed.

I'm now reading The Cellist of Sarajevo.

Despina | 31 comments that would be very interesting, if the internet crashed. Tell us some consequences!

I finally finished the Villa Triste, and I although I thought this book would never end, it closed up nicely. Its amazing what people had to do to survive WW2. Even unforgivable acts.

Consequences for Internet breakdown included:
-cats being forced to be cute on demand
-people using actual bulletin boards
-Twitter fans starting to speak in 140 character sentences

Re: your comments on Villa Triste, the theme of "how people survive in war time" is also a major part of The Cellist of Sarajevo.
