Our April Book of the Month is:

CINDER by Marissa Meyer

Please read and discuss below

Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer

Anna Wolfe | 12 comments I love this book. I know it's gotten some divided reviews, but I thought it was funny, entertaining, and maybe the best Cinderella re-boot I've read... possibly ever. And I say that as someone who generally prefers more blood and sex in my stories.

K. | 96 comments I wasn't really a fan and ended up not finishing it.

Well we have one for and one against... What does everyone else think?

Brianna | 64 comments I thought it was awesome, and that Cinder was a great heroine. Parts of it were slow for me, but the book is very original, and has some good characters.

Kristina I enjoyed reading this book and the two that follow. I love the sci-fi/dystopian spin on the Cinderella story. I also liked that is was set in Asia, not a typical setting. I love Cinder's character, she is brave, curious, and loving to those who show kindness to her. Iko brought a lot of humor to the story, which I also enjoyed.

Marcia (marcygold) I really liked this story. It was pretty fresh for a Cinderella style story. I like Cinder as a role model for girls too. Smart, funny, able to fix things and use skills that aren't related to matching fashion choices. I also love the robot sidekick Iko. She gives us a reminder of just how great our human livers are. I went ahead and read the next two books as well, and just kept enjoying the series even more. I can't figure out when/if the next book comes out.

Kristina I believe the next book in the series, #4, is Winter to be released around Feb 2015. So long to wait.

Oh, that's a killer... I hope it is worth the wait. I think it will be.

Vera M. Almost done... About 8 chapters to go. It's very interesting and I am really liking it. I was trying to describe it to someone and couldn't find words to bring it justice, just made it sound odd... So I decided it's like a scifi Cinderella and people should read it lol.

Audrey Jane | 29 comments One of the better YA I've read so far. The only minor issue is the predictable plot twist. I kept hoping it wouldn't be that obvious. But still great read and I will certainly read the next one.

Indeed, not easy to describe it. Recently I tried to explain the book to my sister. I told her Cinderella was a cyborg and I got weird looks (I think I got too excited about the 'cyborg' part).

Vera M. haha yes, but who doesn't love a good cyborg story! and it's cinderella.
I agree the plot twists felt very in your face obvious. I didn't make me like the book less though which is a plus.

Mimi (mimi396) | 1 comments I LOVE this book! But it's true, the main plot twist was very predictable, i even thought maybe it was supposed to be like that! Anywho, its a great book! I own the next book, Scarlet, but i haven't read it yet :(

Chels (chelssicle) I LOVE this book. I was so excited that it wasn't JUST a fairy tale retelling. The author made this whole other world and there's just so many other things going on! It's probably the best retelling I've ever read.

Sofia The Great (sofiathegreat) I really liked it. I thought it was a unique way of telling Cinderella's story. I already picked up the 2nd book.

Sofia The Great (sofiathegreat) Did anyone read the prequel short story?

No how is the prequel?

Nikki (withererose) I have read both Cinder and Scarlett and loved both of them soooooo much. I'm glad others got to experience this book due to it being a book of the month. I still haven't read Cress because my TBR pile is way too long, but I think I'm gonna bump it to the top, I want more of that amazing story lol. I didn't know there was a prequel short story.....I'll have to check that out :)
