It's very good. It's definitely an adult book disguised as children's literature, which is why I think I like it so much. It has the whimsy and fantasy that children love but the themes are much more meaningful to an adult reader. I'd say the His Dark Materials trilogy are some of the best books I've read this year.
April's challenge will be A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words: Read a Graphic Novel. I will try to get a recommendation post up soon.

I'm pretty excited about April though. Maybe I need a graphic novel!
The Absolute Sandman, Vol. 1
Sandman has been on my to read list forever!
Maybe I'll re-read A Contract With God and Other Tenement Stories.
or
Level Up
I'm kind of hoping Level Up will be a graphic novel version of Ready Player One but I haven't read it yet.
So many choices!! What's everyone else reading?

I've never read a graphic novel, so I'm really looking forward to it!

I have to add books on CD also so I can keep up with the challenge. I'm glad they count,

I didn't know Game of Thrones came in a graphic novel! Awesome!

Yep, and they are fabulous. Definitely not kid friendly (big surprise, I know), but the artwork is fantastic. I think Chesapeake library only has book one, but VA Beach has all three that are out if you have a card there. The only thing about them that I didn't love is that there's a terribly long wait between books (GoT is set up for four books, so it'll take forever to catch up with all the other books in the series), but I'm used to waiting for Martin, so...

Thanks for the info!

I saw a great April Fool's joke where someone created a fake George R.R. Martin blog and claimed The Winds of Winter was complete and to expect a publishing date of Dec. 2014. If only there was a shred of truth to that joke...

I cannot recommend The Knife of Never Letting Go. I didn't finish! If you get through it maybe I'll go re-read it. I could recommend at least a dozen post apocalyptic YA books that ARE worth the time to read!
You might try Y: The Last Man, Vol. 1: Unmanned for your graphic novel pick.

I also started the audiobook of Ready Player One, and I completely understand why everyone has recommended it! It's a glorious walk down 80's nostalgia lane and I am loving it!
I'm also still working on A Dance With Dragons, and Sacred Marriage.
I'm kind of excited about April's challenge too although I'm not sure what I'll choose!

Kyra,
I read Auschwitz and several other books over the years about ww2 & camps. They leave me with as many questions as answers. Lots of other titles on my shelves, btw.

the genre has become popular, so many options for you to choose from including romance, horror, biography, etc. Hope you find a great choice!

I'm down to the last couple of chapters in The Amber Spyglass. I cannot get over the fact I never experienced this story before! I'm sad to be so close to the end, but, at the same time, I can't wait to see how everything concludes.
I read the second book from The Paladin Prophecy series, Alliance. It was a quick, fast-paced read, but nothing really stood out to me. It's very well-written for a YA fantasy/scifi novel, so it gets points for that.
I just started Roomies, which is a light read so far. Every time I go on a YA binge, I end up wondering what I'm doing. Even though they are quick and easy to get through, they don't leave me with much to think on afterwards.
What is everyone else reading?
