Also, never imagined I'd be this active in this group so I never saw the point in introducing myself, hahaha. My first comment was (upon checking) the reading slump thread. I didn't even lurk before because, really, you guys are intimidating. I thought, "They read this and that, they've been friends for a long time and already have an established dynamic, etc., etc.". Pessimistic of me, I know. (hide spoiler)]

My first time (that sounds dirty, hahaha): (view spoiler)[It was October of last year. Honestly, I was in a bit of depression back then. I was unsatisfied with my job, my social life was nonexistent, my life was one big quicksand of routine. I wanted something new and then I saw that history of your name activity in the Tigana thread. I started reading your entries and then I was only supposed to post my comment about how cool it was but then I started typing my answer and..... the rest as they say is history. I was pulled in this black hole called "TFG". I remember that I did not mention anything to anyone because I cannot explain what I was going to. Then I thought, "What if this is a scam? What if they're kidnappers? (uso kase yung mga kidnap no, malay ko ba? hahahahah!) so in the end I mentioned it to my closest friends just to be safe. And of course, I had to explain that yes, book clubs do exist, people really meet to discuss books, and no, I don't think they're nerds, just cool people who have the same passion for books that I do. It's funny how things have changed in a couple of years. While I declared that I am a huge fan of print books back then (still am!), I am now the happy and content owner of Oscar, my Kindle Paperwhite, who replaced Candy, my first-ever e-reader (a 2nd Gen Kindle). Also, when I joined TFG, I was still pregnant with Allie - now, my little girl is an honorary member of Junior TFG. :D

The thread that lured me to semi-unlurk was the "A Clash of Kings" buddy reading. So I said in my "Introduce Yourself" post that I saw the Buddy Reads and I was also reading the book that time. Mabelle said hi to me after that post. (Only her, haha, bitter... Just kidding.) I was ahead in reading the book so I didn't join but I eavesdropped. (So excited and happy when I finally joined them in the 4th and 5th book buddy reading.) (hide spoiler)]

First F2F
(view spoiler)[I saw a post of Tina that says she went to Fully Booked - Eastwood so I asked her if she lives/works at Eastwood (because I work here). After that, Tina and I exchanged messages and she invited me to attend the next F2F. I told her I would if the venue would be Eastwood. Two months passed, October came. I attended my first F2F, the Tigana discussion. I was so nervous on my way to the venue. I met Miss Ronnie and Gwaxa first. :) That day, I met a bunch of noisy friendly people. I was so glad I found people who I can talk to about similar interests. I really enjoyed the discussion, that's why I never missed any since then. Clingy mode. (hide spoiler)]

My introduction is very simple. It goes like this: I believe I am one of you who love to read books. I started loving books when Iwas in grade 3, with Nancy Drew... Now, I read everything and anything under the sun as long as it catches and holds my attention...

I join the discussions and give comments every now and then. You can classify me as an active member but not a very active one...

The first time I attended the meet up was the Tigana with Aaron as the moderator. I enjoyed the meet up very much. As much as I wanted to be present in every meet up, I can't... Basta susulpot na lang ako bigla kung kailan pwede... ;)

Before TFG, I only read one or two books a year. Honestly, I do not know what YA is or what the heck is dystopian before Aaron explained it.

My TBR pile is from nonexistent to one whole shelf. I was once traumatized in buying sale books, it turned out to be one of my worst reads but after TFG, I get to learn about good authors, knew how to pick books accdg to notable awards like Pulitzer, Man booker or Newberry and yes, I am guilty of buy ing books people recommend here in TFG or if that book is given 4/5 stars from the members.

I remembered lurking for the longest time and having this urge to comment because I was reading this certain thread and was laughing for the last 30minutes. so I did and the rest is history!

Everybody seemed really nice, too, so it bolstered my nerves and finally made me comment.

The first F2F I attended was Tina's Jane Eyre discussion April of 2012, I think. I was so excited but when I was on the way to the venue (CBTL Emerald Ave Ortigas) I wondered what made me feel so brazen in going, when I hardly knew anyone at all. But then all that worrying was for naught. All I had to do was go on bookish mode and everybody there made me feel like I fit in pretty easily! Everyone was wonderful, and I got encouraged to join more, which is why I'm still here ^__^

Yes. Pre-Goodreads and pre-TFG, I was a book snob because for me the only good reads are crime/thriller stories (i.e. John Grisham, John Sanford, Dean Koontz) and shy away from female authors. Chick lit? No, thanks. YA? Please, so juvenile. Romance? DUH. But that was then. Heh. Snob. Heh.

I joined TFG when it has more or less a hundred members with only a handful who were active. Even the moderator/creator then (until now) wasn't active. I was bored at work, I had no lovelife and social life (hello, GWAXA!), I was new at Goodreads which I found very fascinating because hey, a virtual library!

I checked my comment history and urgh. Ang korni ng mga posts ko hahaha! I really was awkward even in cyberspace. Heh.

Well, my first meet-up was different. I wasn't invited to it. I created my Goodreads account back in early 2009, almost 2 years after my Shelfari acct. I used to have another group, TNBBC, where Jzhun and I first met. It was Jzhun who invited me to join TFG back in May 2009. Unfortunately, there was this author who kept sending PM to everyone (don't know if the old members still remember him), trying to pimp his books. My virtual self was so annoyed I deleted the old account and created a new one in December 2009.

1. Edsa Q.Ave (kunwari nag mrt ka) pagbaba mo ng tren, may mga jeep going to Philcoa/Fairview/ UP sa Q.ave side.
sa Philcoa ang baba mo. 8pesos ang pamasahe.
Landmarks: madadaanan mo ang QC circle. Magri-right ang jeep to commonwealth avenue. Dapat on the lookout ka na for mercury. Or sabihin mo sa driver na sa Philcoa ka ibaba.

Kapag nakabababa ka na, look for ministop, sa kalye na perpendicular sa Commonwealth. May mga makikita kang red tricycles sa may waiting shed sa opposite ng Reyes haircutters. Sabihin mo sa Maginhawa St, sa kanto ng Makadios St. Number 189 ang bldg ng Sweet Spot. Pamasahe, 18pesos

2. Edsa Cubao- may mga jeep na dumadaan sa side ng Alimall to Fairview, 8pesos ang pamasahe. Sa kalayaan St ang daan nito. Be on the lookout for
Kamay Kainan at puregold supermarket. Magkatabi mga ito, sa right side ng kalye. Dito ka bababa. May mga red tricycles na ulet dito.. Sakay ka at sabihin sa Maginhawa corner Makadios St.


3. Edsa - east ave. assuming bus ka. Pwede rin na taxi route. Baba ka sa may V. luna. Landmark mo ay ang Jollibee sa right side, may stoplight dito. Ang NSO ay nasa left. Kapag katapat mo na ang NSO, ibig sabihin, lumampas ka. Sa street ng. Jollibee, may mga tricycle na, sakay ka at sabihin mo sa Maginhawa corner Makadios st.
Kung Taxi, magriright turn ang taxi from East Avenue sa may jollibee. Diretso to V. luna extension. Alam mong asa tamang landas ka kapag nakita mo ang savemore.

4. edsa -east ave. assuming nagbus ka. Pababa ka sa heart center. May street dito na napagitnaan ng jollibee heart center at PLDT. Lakad ka ng konti towards the side entrance ng heart center. Mkikita mo ang mcdo. My mga tricycle na dito, sakay ka preferably sa red tricycle tapos sabihin mo sa maginhawa st. Corner Makadios.
Magingat, 2 ang jollibee dito. sa second jollibee ka bumaba, hindi yung malapit
