Sometimes, book info comes out in magazines or author's websites long before it hits store lists, so in lieu of forgetting to add it later, I'll create it, too. Usually, I can fix these by merging and deleting, but when so many jump on that wagon and attach themselves to a book, need a SL (Super Librarian) to fix. Yikes. :-)
Tends to happen with die-hard fans who anxiously await the next book....**goes away in guilt**:-)
Thanks, Lisa!
Super needs to delete or merge:http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18...
Duplicate - already combined. Thanks!
And this is a merge candidate: One has all the right info, but no ISBn, the other has no info, except the ISBN pretty much:http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22...
Jessica, I got the second one. I got the first one too but in that case I copied the ISBNs from the other edition (because that's all that was missing is the edition you linked and all that was there in the other edition, including no cover) and deleted the ISBNs from the other edition so it could be deleted and merged.
Great, thanks! So is that all you do with a merge? I thought you had some kind of special super-tool :)

Nope. You just must have somehow flipped which half you're in.

Rivka, You don't find it irritating to have to scroll down to see other editions or click on combine for that author? (I doubt that you're the only one.)
I use the find book editions far more often, and this way more of them fit without going to the next page.
Please delete me!http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/62...
Apparently I am a good book, but I am a duplicate :D
Oh it gets worse. I have a serial adder. I've already found quite a few books where it looked like it was the only edition, but I thought, hrrm, that's unlikely. Yup, names are mispelled. I ran across one I debated on deleting because it's an old book, butgiven this guy's track record....I dunno. I know I don't have any more energy tonight to deal with it. http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/...
Should the follwoing be NOT-A-BOOK? I ask because the "12cc" in the title makes me think it is a display.http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/67...
Yup. Tried to delete it (it wasn't on Amazon.com so I was hopeful) but it repopped from Amazon.ca and I NAB'd it.
So for things that say 18flrc I can check the ISBN and if it doesn't come up on amazon, I can delete it (and hope it doesn't pop back up)?
Jessica, if it doesn't come up on Amazon, I delete it and then search GR by ISBN. That way if it DOES come back, I can NAB it right away.
Thanks for the info! I'll do that from now one. Just for reference though, are the items that say mixed prepacks also NABs? I figure they are the wrapped bundles of the same book for distribution but I never knew for sure and never did anything with them.
Actually, it was a unique edition. The trouble was that another edition had its ISBN-10 (but not its ISBN-13). I fixed that and re-created the Large Print edition.
OTOH, I'm guessing most people actually don't care about edition, and if they do they can easily shift to the corrected LP edition.

Got both. For ones like the latter, it is helpful if you separate the edition to be merged with the specific other one (in this case, this one) so the reviews go to the correct edition. That can only be done when data is supplied (publisher, year of publication, etc.), of course.
Hi, I'm kind of new to all this and though I've looking for this in the manual, I couldn't find an explicit confirmation of the rule but from what I've seen, I'm guessing that the policy is "all new books without ISBN must go." Is this assumption correct? Are there shades of gray to consider? For example I present an entry for a potential book that may or may not be released. However the book have been shelved by more than 1500 users. Does that make a difference or should it be deleted?
Here's the link:

No, you would want to keep that, IMO. Although I think it's crazy that so many people have shelved what amounts to only a "potential" release. You'll also see quite a few books without an ISBN that haven't been released yet. Once the book with the ISBN gets uploaded though, it's OK to delete (but first it must be combined with the correct edition, so that when it is deleted all of the reviews get transfered).
