Jim Jackson | 3 comments Can anyone remind me which (recent) crime novels, based in New York (I think!), contain an occasional character of British, possibly aristocratic descent who seems to be able to mysteriously discover and find out information very quickly for the main novel characters. I seem to remember him turning up in several books of the series and have a feeling his name is like Win something III (third!!) plus he lives in a very fancy apartment block.

I just cannot remember the book titles, the main character names or the author and it's driving me mad. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

An initial search turned up "Windsor "Win" Horne Lockwood, III" in two older Harlan Coben novels. Not sure as Wikipedia describes him as "While the best friend of hero Bolitar, Win would best be described as an anti-hero, being very psychopathic in nature. In many of the books, Myron and Win debate the ethical nature of various actions, often Win's... Win owns the well-established Lock-Horne Investments & Securities, and he also owns his office building. Lock-Horne Investments & Securities covers 6 floors. Win has a corner office with a view of both Forty-Seventh Street and Park Avenue."

Thank you, Kris, from your description and the official ones, that is certainly the character. Harlan Coben is a very occasional read for me so I would have taken ages to re-discover the character although I am surprised the books are that old so a recent novel's character must have reminded me of him.

I will now declare this query solved!!

Great! It pays to guess in this group. I thought that was a long shot. :)

Jim Jackson | 3 comments Thanks again, Kris. The odd one does come in. Mind you, obviously I have read those books but a long time ago. Now I have to remember what/who reminded me of him. Oh well...
