After getting out of the Helicarrier, Adalric went to Burger Palace. He was happy, and wondered if the boy meant for this to be a date of any sort. He wouldn't mind if it was. Not in the slightest. He refrained from using his powers to pick the kid's brain. After all, not knowing was half the fun, the nervousness lead to adrenaline, which made him anxious, in a good way. Why ruin the chase?
Aleksi didn't know what he was doing with Adalric. He really just was hungry but he was glad to be with him because he had an instant attraction towards him. Once they were seated Aleksi started looking through the menu. "So. You mentioned you had been defending your home town before you got here? What's that all about?" He asked genuinely curious as he peered over his menu to subtly glance at Adalric's gorgeous eyes.
He paused for a moment, "Mutants, inhumans...gifted, enhanced, all using their powers for their own ends. After the high school I went to blew up as a teen, I knew someone had to step up. The local law enforcement were powerless to stop the bastards. Of course, I was planning to do something for years before that. I went to Japan to be taught martial arts from the real masters, not some Chinatown dingy dojo ran by some third generation who barely knew anything. That's like doing yoga at a gym, rather than the actual stuff done in India." He looked over his menu, not sure what to get.
Mutants? Inhumans? "What's your hometown called again?" Aleksi found it hard to believe this guy stood against mutants and inhumans in a town. For a newbie he sure knows a lot about the enhanced. Aleksi was starting to like this guy but now he sounds like he's showing off. "Mm, oh really," He said blatantly agreeing staring at his menu.
Adalric paused, "Seattle..." From his tone, Adalric deduced that his new friend thought he was spouting bullshit. He shrugged, he wasn't new at this, he was just new to S.H.I.E.L.D. "So, what about you, how did you come to S.H.I.E.L.D.?" He asked.
Aleksi knew that his file was classified information and wasn't authorized to tell anyone due to the dangers it could lead to, "I'm enhanced so it kind of set a few flags in the S.H.I.E.L.D. database and I was recruited, simple," He finished putting down his menu. "Not as exciting as Japan," He said with a laugh.
He chuckled, "Yeah, Kyoto was pretty awesome." He bit his lip, "So, what are you getting? Because...I never been here before. New to New York and all." He looked over his menu, unsure of what was worth the money and what wasn't.
"You'll have to take me sometime," He genuinely. "Anyway, right, food. I'd personally suggest the Texas Burger. It's packed filled with goodness," He said with a proud smirk, "With a milkshake of course," Aleksi was slightly embarrassed of his childish choices and blushed a little.
He muffled a giggle. "Packed with...'goodness'? And what would that be, exactly? Milkshake...chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry. You know, before...these gifts came in full swing, I was very allergic to strawberries. And fish. Now, I love sushi." He shook his head, his mind going back to Kyoto, to 'her'. He clenched his fist, reminding him who had taken her from him and why he was with S.H.I.E.L.D. in the first place. Revenge.
"Hey! No making fun of me! This is my sacred place, Adalric," He said with a pout. "I'm glad those allergies are gone because I love strawberry milkshake," Aleksi stopped for a second noticing his demeanor change, "Is everything alright?" He asked as he waved over the waitress.
He furrowed his brow, unaware that his face had betrayed him. "Sorry, just...bad memories of Tokyo. And I wasn't mocking. Just curious of its ingredients, Mr. Aleksi." He looked at the waitress as she came over. Damn, he didn't know what to order! He'd....go with Aleksi' suggestion and...strawberry milkshake. He was oddly nervous.
"You don't have to talk about it," He said with a pitiful smile. "Anyway," He said as the waitress came over. "I'll grab my usual, Cathy," Aleksi said to the older woman with a smile. ALeksi wondered where this reltionship between them would go but shook his head as if getting it out of his head. How could anyone like him like me? He wondered.
Fumbling over his thoughts, he blurts out that he'd have the same. He bites his lip. He stuttered and sounded...stupid. This...was unlike him. Somehow, this boy effected him, his powers didn't seem to kick in. He was normal, clumsy and nervous. My heart....it is fluttering. God, am I BLUSHING? He realized just how cute the sparkle in Aleksi's eyes were.
Aleksi smiled at him, "So, what did you major in college?" He asked as he shuffled in his seat. Even if Adalric didn't fancy him he still wanted to get to know him, at least make a friend. He doesn't have much of those. At least he used to before his abilities became prominent.
"Forensic science...I worked with the Seattle Police Department after I returned from Japan." He said. Adalric tried to avoid looking right at him. If he didn't see those eyes gazing into his, his heart beat was normal. He tried to steady his breath. When was the last time he felt like this? He couldn't remember. "So, uh, tell me about yourself, Aleksi."
"If you couldn't notice the hint already from my accent, I was born in Russia. And raised in an orphanage for quite a while. I think about home a lot," He said looking down at the table, "A lot of suppressed memories," He continued with a forceful chuckle. "My childhood wasn't exactly what you call normal,"
He nodded, he didn't want to pry. "I wouldn't know what normal is." He said. His world changed and kept on changing, that word lost its meaning. He waited for his food to come. His mind kept slipping back to her, her face, in pain and in horror, calling out his name. He clenched his fist. He exhaled, and tried to focus on Aleksi, drawing himself back to the present and away for the memories.
Aleksi scoffed, "Yeah, I don't think anybody does," He said just as the waitress came with their food. "Get ready for an incredible explosion of taste," He said as he rubbed his hands together. I wonder where this will go. I hope it foes somewhere at least. He's cute, interesting and unpredictable. Not bad...-Oh, gosh. Should I ask him back to his dorm? Should they move in together? No, no, no, too soon, right? Do I kiss him under the porch light of his parents house like in the movies? Ahhh. How do people do this?! He wondered as his dazed off into the distance rambling in his head.
He picked up the burger, looking it over. "Okay...I'm trusting you on this, man." He said as he bit into it. It...wasn't bad. This is what Texas tastes like? He thought as he washed it down with the shake. His throat burned. His adaptation not at full capacity since he was with Aleksi, that boy managed to distract even his powers. He tried to not show the pain as his body took longer than usual to heal from the allergic reaction.
"Not bad?! It's fantastic, just admit it," He said as he chowed down his burger and shake getting it all over his lips. Aleksi had an actual friend for once, it felt.. good. He was smiling, and was happy. "So, what are your plans for the rest of the day?" He asked curious, his plans were just to do a movie marathon of the Terminator series, it sounded pathetic in his head.
He shrugged, "Begging the powers that be to give me a damn assignment already." Adalric said, clearing his burning throat. "So I'm basically free. Yourself?" He asked as his voice cracked, which caused his body to heal. He finished his burger within the next four bites, but did not want to risk the strawberry milkshake.
"Mm, well, this is gonna sound lame but I was gonna do a very lonely marathon of the Terminator series," He said, "Don't laugh," He added. "If-if you wanted to you could join me? You don't have to," He asked with a nervous chuckle as he reached for his milkshake.
He shrugged, "Sure, I got nothing better to do." He said, not knowing how rude it came off. He looked around Burger Palace. "I don't think we have a Burger Palace in Seattle. Is this a New York only chain?" He asked.
(-Sorry for being inactive here!)"Must be, I haven't really been out of town much," He said as stood up leaving some money on the table. Aleksi shrugged on his jacket made his way towards the door. He couldn't believe he was inviting this guy back to his dorm. Aleksi wasn't ever good with people, he used to have friends but when they found out about his enhancements they looked t him differently. He became scared that Adalric will see something in him that will scare him away. He thought as he stood outside staring into the sunset sky of New York.
