So I'm trying to come up with a good name for my natively Irish character. The problem is I hate all the Irish names that fit really well into the story (as far as their meanings are concerned). Should I still choose one I don't particularly like so that it fits the story, or one that sounds better, but has nothing to really do with her heritage?

From what I read, you don't like the names that fits by meaning. What about just a normal Irish name with no particular meaning? I mean not every one has a name that fits their personality.

That's exactly what I meant. Her descendants are important to the story, but having just an Irish name may work too... maybe I'll just ignore the meaning of the name. :/

I know you can learn to like a name when the characters is a great one. I'm just not sure how likely it is if you 'hate' the name to begin with.

Sh..."These days most people are lucky if they aren't named after a football team or mythological creature. Name her something that rolls off the tongue well.
