Just listen-- dialogue

In the book, Just Listen, Sarah Dessen uses dialogue to help the reader understand what it might have been like if the reader was actually living in the story world. When a charcter says something in a certain tone, the reader connects on what's happeining in the book. For example, "The Moksha people LOVED your pictures, my mother was syaing, her happy voice a complete contrast on what I felt," (25). This quote helps the reader understand the tone becuase the mom is usaluly always cheerful and happy and in this moment she's being happy, but Anabel is not in a good mood. Overall dialogue helps a reader understand a story better.
