Emmi Starr | 3 comments I love reading paranormal romance, but recently I've found myself rereading the old favourites when I should be challenging myself with new content!
I really enjoyed: ALL of G.A.Aiken and Shelly Laurenston,
Ilona Andrews,
ALL ofKeri Arthur,
ALL of Jeaniene Frost,
ALL of Nalini Singh,

I didn't really like: any of Karen Chance (I've read most of the series, but that was more curiosity about how she was gonna get out of the mess she put herself in by her own incompotence),
Laurell K. Hamilton (same reason as above),
Rachel Vincent,
Charlaine Harris,
Kim Harrison,
Carrie Vaughn,
Jennifer Estep,
Dark Brotherhood Series.

Could anybody recommend a hot, sexy PR series with great world building where I can actually connect with the characters?
Sorry that its such a big request!

Marian | 3 comments Hi. If you really like the humour in GA Aiken / laurenston. Try Kresley Cole. And some of Gena Showalter

Alexandra Ivy is a fantastic writer too of paranormal romance

Lora Leigh does a paranormal series - the earlier books are excellent - similar to Nalini singh's Changling Series But the more recent ones I didn't like as much

Also Lynn Viehl writes a good series but to get the most out of them start with the earlier books as she ends up with lots of characters like Singh.

Emmi Starr | 3 comments Thank you for all the recommendations!
I don't like J.R. Ward, Kresley Cole or Charley Davison series :/
I've read Larissa Ione, Chicagoland Vampires, Thea Harrison (great series!), Scanguard Vampires & Sherrlyn Kenyon.
Dana Marie Bell and Molly Harper were a bit meh, not enough substance.
I've started on Kindling the Moon which is alright so far (about halfway through). I'm enjoying it, but I'm just not gripped - not gritty enough maybe?

Guy Lozier | 13 comments Free on Kindle ebook from november 26th to november 30th...

What I have found interesting is how some of my readers tell me they found theirselves beginning to like the villain of my story...here is an example...isn't it funny that I would build up such a nasty character and allow my readers to cheer for him...hehe... http://www.amazon.com/Eternal-Guardia...

Dozens are flying off the shelf as we speak...

This is from the perspective of the main villain who is the King of the Devians, "Glaxus"...

"I patiently waited for my moment. Set a trap for this being. As I opened the rift between our dimensions, I prepared. I knew he would be hard to hold in my grasp as I would attempt to encase his soul. Once I had my claws in his soul, there was nothing in existence that could stop me. Nothing that I had ever seen anyway.

His powers of mind were so great that I doubted my abilities to accomplish moving into his form. I nearly failed. When he saw the rift I had opened, I refrained from pushing my mind into his dimension. Knowing he would sense my presence, I pulled my consciousness back from his mind. I waited for his curiosity to get the better of him. It did. It always does. He gradually moved close to it as he cautiously studied the rift between our dimensions. When he was within striking distance, I made my move. As I reached into his mind to paralyze him, I found walls of resistance. He was prepared for me. Not me particularly, but in his mind, I could see that he estimated that one of his own kind was responsible and his resistance was aimed at keeping them out of his head. His defenses were vast, but my attack was different. I could slither between his walls of defense. There was one point, as he adjusted his defenses, that he trapped me from progress. If I had not withdrawn quickly and counter attacked, he would have probably caged me in his own mind. I’m not sure how that would have affected me. I estimated, he would have been able to look back into my dimension at that point to learn of us. There is no telling where that would have led.

I can only surmise that he would have expanded his understanding of dimensions at that point and gained my abilities to traverse dimensional realities. But I reacted quickly, stepped back, and then countered his move around his cage. It was like slow motion. I could see his mind concentrating on the position I had just held. His cage door was closing, but I was no longer there. While his mind was circling that position, distracted, I shot around it. I watched him as I flew by, my quick movement caught his attention as I passed. I smiled at him as I invaded his mind to cut him off, entrapped his mind in my cage. As I slammed the door on his prison, my claws dug into his soul. His grasp on all things released as the pain and anguish of my act swept through his whole being. He began to grasp his situation then. It was like being a planet, circling a sun. The sun as his soul and the planet as his personality. He was trapped by the gravity of the sun, yet caged as the planet. I was the universe that held his sun, drawing the energy from it to sustain myself.

Then I was able to absorb his memories, understand his capabilities. I evolved in that moment. I was not certain how I had changed, but one thing I knew. I could reach many times further with my mind. My mind capacities extended to the very corners of his planet. I was in ecstasy. My power of mind now controlled the largest city on this planet and every personality in it. My control extended to every facet of their lives. These were the controls my newly captured adversary had just held. Now I held them.

I became aware of how their societies functioned. The more powerful of mind controlled the weak of mind. With a thought I could severe the life force of any one of my subjects. Incredible, I thought. I was now the most powerful known individual on this planet and all the planets they controlled. Not only did I control all in this city, but several smaller cities and all the villages between. My mind told them what to grow, what to manufacture, what to produce, everything they did. Every moment of their lives, I governed. I was the law. I made the rules. I decided life or death for all in my grasp. I was a God here."
