I'm guessing MF has never lived with anyone with serious need for order. Messing up his orderly desk wouldn't be funny for someone like Nick! It would be frustrating.
I have a book to finish and then will hop on this one!! Won't miss this for sure, love this series!!

I should upload a photo of one of his drawers or our pantry!

He absolutely hated it! He would laugh, too. He used to hang his shirts in order of color, too. It was his worst nightmare to have to share a closet with me :-) He was the total engineer, and had a military background.
Too many romances going onFreddie and Elin , Jeanine and Michael and Terry and Lindsay I'm guessing one of them are doomed! Not all 3 can have a HEA , What do you think ?
I love the 3 couples and their story lines.
Too many mysteries and plot lines :As for the murders , obviously there is a connection between Crystal's and the freezer bodies.
The threatening fan mail, other than thinking it might or might not be Peter I don't have any other suspect. It obviously can't be Stahl. He can't be that dumb. On that note how dumb is it to complain about not being invited to a wedding?
Skip's Pneumonia , I think he'll survive and he'll get to know who shot him in the future books.
The cold case that Jeanine is investigating it will be the reason she gets back her confidence to come back to work.
There seemed to be more developed story lines that are fanning out. I like the way you get to know their entire community of friends. Still not an Elin fan, but maybe it's the voice of the narrator. (view spoiler)
Chris wrote: "He was the total engineer, and had a military background."Oh, dear. A double whammy! I was married to an engineer. He was very OCD. I just thought I was OCD, until I lived with him.
I enjoyed it, but definitely not as much as the others (my opinion). Having read the series, I find that if Nick is less engaged in the crime it's not as good.... the personal stuff is always great. The last book just posted by the author is the exception. Fatal Frenzy most likely because the book is nearly all personal even the crime.

ShoSho wrote: "I hope the next one is better. ..."I read my review of
and up to that point, I thought it was the best. So don't worry... My least favorites were 4 & 8 (but 8 is necessary to enjoy 9).
Lisa Kay wrote: "It hasn't grabbed me, yet. In fact, I went on to another book. (Don't yell at me!)"I WON'T YELL!!!
How did I get so behind on my books? I have two I need to read and review, as I committed myself. Plus, several in a series, if I want to keep up with other GR friends. And, I was offered one I really, really want to read from Net Gallery. *sigh* Too much company. That's it. LOL!
@ chapt 14 there's something unnerving about Skip's wife (view spoiler) And what's with Sam (view spoiler) !!!
Silvia wrote: "@ chapt 14 there's something unnerving about Skip's wife [spoilers removed] And what's with Sam [spoilers removed] !!!"I know!! I kept thinking why didn't she take him to the hospital sooner.
And Sam acted dumb more than once!
@chapter 30 just read Terry's testimony at the AA meeting! Wow, just wow! My fave part of the book so far!
I don't know how I missed this discussion! I listened to the audiobook earlier this month, so was ready. But, I didn't get notifications and it slipped my mind. I had a bunch of driving to do, so listened to the book at 1.5 speed, and I think that helped. The thing I liked was that this one wasn't about some famous figure. However, the amount of time spent whining about the wedding cards and flailing around because they didn't have a motive for the murders was excessive.
Also, I thought the police work was a little sloppy. First, they should have been digging more on all of the victim's lives and associates, not just recent ones. Second, Sam broke her own court order against her ex by going to visit him. She should never have done so, and if there was a problem, I could see that compromising the case. Dumb. When is she going to get over herself and just let him be the crazy jerk that lied to her rather than being embarrassed that she didn't see it? Having him in every book sours my experience as I don't think he's necessary, and Sam's interactions with him are just stupidity on her part.
ShoSho wrote: "I'm done.... the cold case."
ShoSho, given Sam's character, I'm betting we haven't seen the end of it yet. Personally, I was hoping the story would give someone the chance to get things clear and off their back. But, that wasn't to be.

There was a lot of dumb in this book, but since I listened to a sped up version when driving, it wasn't so bad. Although there was waaaay too much going on. So much drama!
One thing that didn't set well with me was how Jeannie's partner dropped her off and didn't wait until she got inside. Given his guilt over her attack, I was surprised.
@ LaraAlso, I thought the police work was a little sloppy. First, they should have been digging more on all of the victim's lives and associates, not just recent ones.
Too true!
.Second, Sam broke her own court order against her ex by going to visit him. She should never have done so, and if there was a problem, I could see that compromising the case. Dumb.
Extremely dumb!
When is she going to get over herself and just let him be the crazy jerk that lied to her rather than being embarrassed that she didn't see it?
VERY good point. She should pull her Big Girl Panties up and get on with it.
Having him in every book sours my experience as I don't think he's necessary, and Sam's interactions with him are just stupidity on her part.
I can't tell you how much I TOTALLY agree with you on this, Lisa. Not enjoy his scenes or her handling of the sit.
Lara wrote: "There was a lot of dumb in this book, but since I listened to a sped up version when driving, it wasn't so bad."LOL! I should have go at that speed, too. I only did 1.25 speed. :o)
Lara wrote: "One thing that didn't set well with me was how Jeannie's partner dropped her off and didn't wait until she got inside. Given his guilt over her attack, I was surprised."DEFINITELY! "Little" detail things like this really bug me about this series. A partner of a rape victim wouldn't do that. I also go upset last book with Sam always saying she was always careful...when, obviously, she wasn't and lost her baby. Plus, she kept saying it afterwards and into this book! You'd think she'd at least flashback to when she hadn't been careful.

That bugged me too.

Already on edge, Sam and her team start investigating a series of baffling murders. The victims are well-liked with no known enemies, and the murders are carried out in a clean and efficient manner. Unable to find a clear motive for the deaths, she feels like she's chasing her tail.
With no obvious connection between the victims, Sam soon suspects that she may be the ultimate prize in the killer's clever game. When the danger starts to hit a little too close to home, she has two goals: find the elusive murderer and manage to live long enough to enjoy her happily ever after.
