kat (kathylquintero) | 1 comments Hey everyone, I’m Katherine (Kat) from Los Angeles. I joined this group in January but just realized that I never formally introduced myself, my apologies! I’m currently a senior in high school, so I’m excited to dive into April’s reads with all this free time in quarantine. I hope you are all doing well!

message 303: by jules♡ (new)

jules♡ (juliaturner) Hello! I'm Julia, 22 year old from Spain. I used to be an avid reader when i was smaller, but as a teenager i had a bit of a fallout. In the past year i have recovered my long lost love for books and created and account on Goodreads to find motivation and new stories to discover.
I wanted to join this group because i love books and gilmore girls! I started watching it because i knew it was a really famous tv show in America and since it was on Netflix i decided to give it a try and boy do i love this show!!!
I am not as fast a reader as i hoped i would be but I'm thrilled to give this challenge a go :)

Hi everyone! My name's Claudia, I'm 18 and I'm from Spain. I'm a first year medical student living in Madrid by myself for the first time in my life and it's being hectic whilst amazing.

Ever since I was very young I've always loved to read. I'm the kind of person who gets so absorbed with a book it's like everything else ceases to exist. My mother and I have always been super close, as we have lived together for the biggest part of my life since my parents divorced, and Gilmore Girls is and will forever be our favorite TV series.

Ever since I first watched it, back in 2010 when I was just nine, I have always looked up to Rory so much, and somehow have found a part of her in me. I know it may sound a bit crazy, but in difficult times or moments in which I have to make important decisions, I tend to ask myself: what would Rory do? Her character really means so much to me.

I'm so excited to find that many other people share my passion for Gilmore Girls and reading, and I can't wait to get to know you all! :)

PS: I'm team Jess 4 life.

message 305: by Sonja (new)

Sonja Palmer Hi everyone,

my name is Sonja from Germany! I am excited to join this group! Let the reading begin :)

message 306: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1 comments Hello! I'm Ashley from South Carolina and I look forward to this challenge. I just started re-watching The Gilmore Girls and thought that this challenge would be a good way to diversify my reading. I was an English Literature major in college so I have read a lot of the books on the list but I would like to go through them again with 'older ' eyes.

message 307: by haley (new)

haley (haley_w) Hey everyone,
my name's Haley and i'm from Canada. Although I wasn't born when GG first aired, I've seen every episode and I love it all the same! One of the things that I remembered loving were all of the allusions to various works of literature. The only problem was that I had pretty much no idea what was being referenced. Joining this group is my first step towards changing that, and I hope that I can enjoy myself and make some connections along the way :)

message 308: by Mahima (new)

Mahima (kalichaiaurkitaab) | 2 comments Hello!
My name is Mahima and I am from India. I loved loved loved watching Gilmore Girls since my teens years. And I re-watch it every year. I always wanted to be a book club of Rory and I finally found one. Thank god! I can't wait for my challenges and my book reading (as half as Rory's) begin.

message 309: by Marisa (new)

Marisa (marjjsa) hi my name is marisa and I'm from Australia!! i recently started rewatching gilmore girls after moving back to my hometown and I find myself relating to different characters now that I am older. Rory's reading list and love for books has always interested me and after finding out about this challenge I knew I had to try it!!

message 310: by Mars (new)

Mars | 2 comments Hi I know I'm late but I have a few questions. Where do I find which books this group has read already and which still need to be read? Also, is this a challenge spreading over many years or do you try and finish the list in one year?

message 311: by Kamakshi (new)

Kamakshi Kharbanda | 1 comments Hi, I’m Kamakshi from India. I have been obsessed with Gilmore girls for the longest time and am so excited to start this book challenge !

message 312: by Violaine (last edited Jul 02, 2020 04:20AM) (new)

Violaine Hey guys !

I'm Violaine from France. I really love reading books especially thrillers and classics. I started watching Gilmore Girls when I was younger and I rewatch it a lot when I feel unmotivated aha.

I really love Lorelai, I wish I could be as strong as she is and as funny as she is. I love Rory too, she kind of motivates me to study harder and to read more and I guess I wish I lived in some small town like Stars Hallow.

( And I ship Jess with Rory!)

so yeah this is my introduction to the group :)
(sorry if I made any mistakes)

message 313: by Michaela (new)

Michaela (ilikebigbooksandicannotlie3000) | 1 comments Hi!

I’m Michaela originally from Palmdale, California but now living in Basel, Switzerland.

I am very excited to join this group and be an avid reader again, I miss reading and I need to make more time for it. I studied English at University and love libraries, pop tarts and coffee! My favorite book is The Things They Carried! My favorite since high school, and I go back to it often.

Confession: I haven’t seen all the episodes of GG and am hoping to watch that as I go through the reading list. But, so far my favorite episode is the one where we meet Jess!

Excited to start reading,
Michaela

I started watching Gilmore Girls alone and then my mother joined. I love how many books Rory has read :)

message 317: by Star Geek (new)

Star Geek Hello from Western Pennsylvania. Watching Gilmore Girls and was reminded of the reading challenge, something I've wanted to do for awhile now. And then, through a bit of serendipity, I stumbled upon this group. Love the idea of reading the books together -- please tell me that you aren't all finished already! I have a cat named Watson and am currently reading Huckleberry Finn (not at all what I thought it was going to be and now wanting to read a biography on Mark Twain -- but that's how it goes, isn't it? One book leading to another.) Anyway, hello everyone. I'm Star Geek and looking forward to reading with you all.

message 318: by ken! (new)

ken! | 1 comments Hi! I’m Kendall, and I was definitely intrigued by this Gilmore Girls Reading Challenge :) I am a huge fan of Gilmore Girls and I’ve never been so obsessed with any other show so there’s that. I also love reading, and I have always loved reading ever since I was small. So, Gilmore Girls fan plus avid book reader equals “I guess I’m joining this book club” haha

message 319: by Tanvi (new)

Tanvi Mahendrakar | 3 comments Hi! I am Tanvi from india! Watched and rewatched gg so many times! can't wait to read all those books Rory refers to all the time!

message 320: by Ananya (new)

Ananya | 1 comments Hi! I'm Ananya! I am an avid reader and a huge Gilmore Girls Fan! I can't wait to embark on this challenge!

Lenna the Unicorn Cat (moonlight_reviews) Hi! My name is Lenna. My older sister introduced me to Gilmore Girls when I moved into her place temporarily. I love Rory's character and especially her love for books! I've always wanted to read all of the books she's picked up throughout the series and hopefully with this group, I'll be challenged to do so!

message 322: by Leni Jenkins (new)

Leni Jenkins (lenorejenkins) | 2 comments Hey everyone! I'm Lenore from Indiana and as a bibliophile and huge Gilmore Girls fan I'm so happy to be part of this group. I'm really looking forward to knocking out the rest of Rory's list with new reading buddies!

And my favorite episode is Rory's Birthday Parties. <3 I love the contrast between the two worlds and the shift of Emily and Lorelai's relationship.

message 323: by Chiara (new)

Chiara (chiaaras) Hii guys :)

I‘m Chiara from Switzerland! I love Gilmore Girls, I‘m currently watching it again and I started wondering about the books Rory reads because I myself love reading very much. When I googled the books I didn‘t even know about this reading challenge, so I‘m really excited that I found this group :)
My favourite thing about the Gilmore Girls is their relationship, their ability to talk that fast and witty and their addiction to coffee (I‘m also a huge coffee fan). I love the episodes in which Rory gets to know Jess and they both starting to like each other (yes, I‘m a bit of a sucker for love stories and a big fan of Jess ;))

I‘m happy to start reading these books and I‘m glad to do it with you guys!

message 324: by dc (last edited Sep 22, 2020 07:56PM) (new)

dc | 1 comments Hi all Dave here. I've been huge Gilmore fan for years as well as A goodreads follower. Kinda strange that it took soo long for these things to finally overlap. My favorite episode, is "Lost and Found". Only because I'm convinced Jess was secretly in love with Lorelai! Why embark on the Rory Book Challenge.. well, I have a toddler now, so in between naps and laundry and a QUARENTINE, I have a lot more time around the house. I'll be doing a mix of physical book and audiobook. Since my new favorite past time is gardening with an audiobook, probably more of the latter.

message 325: by Rozemarijn (new)

Rozemarijn (rozemarijn93) Hello! My name is Rozemarijn and I'm from the Netherlands :) I started watching Gilmore Girls quite late and haven't finished it yet (halfway through season 6 now!), but I really like it. I love the cosy atmosphere, how Rory and Lorelai interact and how the relationship between Luke and Lorelai evolves. And of course I like Rory's geekiness and her love of reading, so I'm looking forward to join this challenge!

message 326: by katie (new)

katie (katiesopp) | 1 comments Hi! I’m joining this group just now, have been a massive fan of Gilmore Girls for years and am looking forward to having discussions about books and the show soon!

message 327: by Lúa (new)

Lúa (lua1399) Hello!
My name is Lúa i'm 21 as of 2020 and i'm from Barcelona, Spain.

I saw Gilmorge Girls for the first time when I was youger, i think the box set had just came out and a friend of my mother's led it to us to watch. I always liked to read and when i saw Rory on my little TV and how she read i was astonished, i found my habit reader spirit animal.

My favorite character is Lorelai, i love to watch tv and bullet journaling and I work as an administrative/secretary.

message 328: by [deleted user] (last edited Nov 24, 2020 03:31PM) (new)

Hi everyone!

My name is Blair and I’m a new member here. I watched a few seasons when Gilmore Girls first aired and I recently started rewatching them on Netflix. I was excited to see Rory’s reading list online and thought it would be a fun challenge to try reading all of the books listed. This list led me to Goodreads which eventually led me to this group! One of my favorite books growing up was Flowers for Algernon and I’m looking forward to reading it again. As far as favorite character on the show, I love them all, but I find Michel especially funny.

:)

message 329: by Deb (new)

Deb | 12 comments Hello! I am excited to find this group on Goodreads. My introduction to GG is not very new, but I am rewatching the series and would really like to find a way to enhance the enjoyment of it. Thanks for providing this resource.
Debbie

message 330: by poppy (new)

poppy (poppyland) | 1 comments Hi guys! I am Paula and I'm very excited to join this group and start this reading challenge. My love for GG came from my mother, who used to watch when it first aired. I'm very excited about this group because I think it's such a great idea to follow up on all these incredible recommendations from Rory (and all the references from the show in general). Hope everyone is having a lovely time and staying safe!

Hello everyone! So happy to see everyone new!! Hopefully we are all ready to move on from "The Year That Shall Not Be Named" and into 2021! Happy Reading this year! Let's get some more of the list read!

message 332: by Tugba (new)

Tugba (tugbaraya) | 1 comments Hi everyone I'm Tugba from Turkey. I only watched two seasons yet but I loved it. I don't know why I didn't start earlier. I am studying comparative literature but somehow I got stuck with readingslump and then Rory (the idea of her reading list) pushed me to read books again. I hope I can keep up with the group.

message 333: by Karolina (last edited Jan 04, 2021 11:55PM) (new)

Karolina | 2 comments Dear all,
This year I've decided to join the reading challenge (despite being a member of this groups since when I started using goodreads back in the summer). My name is Karolina, I live in Uppsala, Sweden, and I haven't rewatched the series for sometime (last time was 2015 I think, and only up until season 5) - except of course for A Year in the Life (which I felt was strangely outdated in many aspects).

Nevertheless, the impact of Rory (and Lorelei) Gilmore on my life cannot be underestimated - the show has often been my study inspiration throughout my uni years and I will never not cry when watching Rory's valedictorian speech. :') With that said - looking forward to reading Franny & Zooey this month!

Thanks to all involved for having this group and keeping it updated. :)

message 334: by nαомι (new)

nαомι αndιno (nndno) | 3 comments Hello!
I'm from Asunción, Paraguay and I'm very excited to join this group. Especially since you're reading A Tale of Two Cities which I bought a long time ago bet never read, but I guess now I will!
I've always heard of Gilmore Girls but did not watch it until 2018 and I am currently re-watching it.
Every time I start slacking at my university I watch an episode to get back on track- Rory has been a huge inspiration for me! 🧡

message 335: by Ainoa (new)

Ainoa Bravo Rodríguez (noa1000words) | 1 comments ¡Hola! Mi nombre es Ainoa, soy de España y... ¡me encanta leer! Amo Gilmore Girls y estoy deseando leer todos los libros que Rory leyó.

¡Espero no haber llegado muy tarde!

Con amor,

Noa

message 336: by Kirstin (new)

Kirstin | 1 comments Hello! My name is Kirstin and I’m a 30 year old woman living in Tokyo. Despite it being so popular when I was younger, I’ve only recently started watching Gilmore Girls (currently on season 2) but man am I glad I did. I also adore books but have a hard time finishing them nowadays (or finishing anything for that matter haha), so I thought joining a group like this might give me some accountability while also just being fun! :)

message 337: by Наталія (new)

Наталія (nataliawy) | 3 comments Hi all! I'm Natalia, I'm 27, and I'm a translator and interpreter from Ukraine. I only really watched Gilmore Girls recently, though of course I would've had to live in a cave not to have heard about it before. I'm a big fan of Jess (thanks partly to one of my best friends who warned me right at the start of my journey that we liked him :D), and the drive and ambition that Rory had, especially in the earlier seasons, are very inspiring.

I used to have their coffee drinking abilities but I'm too old now :)

I have read much less in the recent couple of years than I would've liked, so I'm excited to join the group.

message 338: by Itsteffi (new)

Itsteffi Hi everyone,

My name is Stefanie and I live in a small town in Austria.

I love learning new languages and reading books. English was my favourite subject at school, which is why I enjoy reading books written in English and watch shows like GG. What I love about GG, is, that you can always go back, watch a couple of episodes (or binge a couple of seasons 😅😇) and it just never gets old. At least in my book.

I have read some of the books on Rory‘s list, but I had not heard about this challenge until today. I’m eager to give it a shot. ☺️

message 339: by Christina (new)

Christina | 2 comments My name is Christina and I live in Nevada. Rural and just got some snow so makes for some wonderful days of looking out the window at the snow but reading by the fireplace.

I just found this group from a friend in another Goodreads group. Misbah had mentioned a Gilmore Girls reading list but I didn't know that there was a group reading the list of books. Actually my friend gave me a beautiful copy of A Tale of Two Cities and that is one of the books being read in this group.

Look forward to finding new friends who love books!

message 340: by Nathalie (new)

Nathalie (nathalieo1885) Hi,
I'm Suzie and I'm from Quebec. I'm a fan of Gilmore Girls since I'm a teenager, and when the series was dubbed in French for the first time, I was the same age as Rory. I love reading - of course - writing, music, watching sitcoms.

message 341: by Christina (new)

Christina (cartoon_heart) | 2 comments Hi everyone!
I'm Christina from Mumbai, India.

I'm late to the party and I only discovered Gilmore Girls late last year, but binge watched the entire thing and it's become my new obsession.

So glad to have discovered this group...It helps fill in a void of sorts that the end of the series left :)

Looking forward to discovering great books and people in this community!

message 342: by Kat (new)

Kat (thekatwrites42) | 1 comments Good morrow! I'm Kat from Indiana, USA.

Having just finished the Gilmore Girls series (not the Netflix bonus just yet) I've decided to embark upon this ridiculously difficult challenge. I'm hoping that showing my kids I still love to read after our family reading hours have disappeared, will rekindle their love of the written word as well.

message 343: by Maria (new)

Maria | 1 comments Hi newbie here!! My name is Maria and I am super late to the party but discovered Gilmore girls last year during the first month of lockdown and binge watched it twice already 😅 Had already started reading some books mentioned in the show when I came across this group and thought it was genius!! Can't wait to read all 408 books mentioned in the shows 😱🤓

message 344: by Cristal (new)

Cristal Library (cristal_library) | 1 comments Hi!! I'm Cristal, from Brazil. I've watched Gilmore girls 3 times already and just now joined Goodreads so I'm pretty new here! I'm excited to enter the challenge ;)

Angie (angiee_gnz) | 1 comments I am watching Gilmore Girls for the first time and I am absolutely in love with it!! I am very excited too!! Welcome!!

message 346: by Taylor (new)

Taylor Serpa | 1 comments Hi I'm Taylor! I'm from Canada. I'm an 11th grade student. I've just been getting back into reading after not reading for a couple years and this is my first time ever using GoodReads!
I watched Gilmore Girls with my mom on Netflix once and now I rewatch the show at least once a year! I've been on a journey to read more classics this year so I'm very excited to join this challenge!

Natalia (nataliaglima) Hii! I'm Nat and my pronouns are she/her. I love Gilmore Girls and Jess Mariano is the dream. I love Rory's list because I've found some really good stuff there. My favorite genre is classical literature but I read everything (really everything) and I'm always posting comments on what I'm reading. I'm a senior in high school and live in South America :)

message 349: by Bibliotecária (new)

Bibliotecária (bibliotecarianerd) | 1 comments Hi! I am Lou, I'm a librarian and I'm re-watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix. I adore Luke and I have a confession: I think Lorelai is a tiny bit selfish. Also, I'm team Jess, though Dean is a cutie.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to take this challenge. As Gill, I also did the buzzfeed quiz and this is my result:

You checked 44 out of 339 on this list!
81 %
You checked more than 81% of quiztakers.

I think there are some books there that need re-reading, so my plan is to read them all.... in the long run.

Nice to meet you all.
