AnnaW Hi everyone! My name is Anna, I'm in my mid-thirties and I used to read a lot at highschool. I was sort of 'forced' to read all those wonderful classics (for my grades), but while reading I began to love it! My most beautiful reading experiences were those 'forced readings' and I would love to discipline myself into reading more classics. And of course I love the Gilmore Girls!
So happy to see that the group is currently reading Wuthering Heights. I started it a couple of months ago and this is a great opportunity to pick it up again! Apart from that, i's a nice way of improving my English.

Hi, I'm Ilenia a.k.a. Lily, I'm 18 and I live in Italy. I'm a book addict and I' prefer read classics. I love Oscar Wilde, in fact my favourite book is 'The portrait of Dorian Gray'. I'm a big fan of 'Harry Potter' (I'm falling for Remus Lupin) and 'Gilmore girls'.

SilviatheLibrarian | 0 comments Hi, my name is Silvia I'm from Austria and I got into GG about 3 years ago. I started with the Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge as soon as I found out about it, but I haven't read much of the books yet. So I'm hoping that this group will motivate me to read more of Rory's books. Can't wait to get started:-)

message 204: by Iadyra (new)

Iadyra | 1 comments Hi, my name is iady (yah-thee) and i'm a stay at home mom who just moved to the country so I'll definitely have a lot of time on my hands to get through a reading list! I have been a GG fan since the beginning. I still binge watch it on netflix. Hopefully this group will help me get more reading done :)

RomanceLoverGlitterLady | 1 comments Hi, I'm Léa, I'm soon to be new mommy of 25 from France and super excited for this challenge. I've loved GG since I was a teenager and have always admired Rory for her dedication to reading! I hope to gain more knowedge from this challenge so here we go :)

message 206: by Bery (new)

Bery (bery91) | 2 comments Hi, I'm Bery and I live in Mexico. I started watching GG last month and I love it, since then everyday I see one episode. I always love to read, so it's a good idea try to read this challenge while I see GG.

message 207: by Alissa (new)

Alissa Patrick (apatrick12211) Hi! I'm Alissa and I'm a 35 yr yr old married mother of two young girls. I live in Buffalo NY and I'm a recent GG fan (I'm only on season 1 episode 6 haha). I have heard of the Rory Gilmore Challenge and now watching each episode I looked for a GR group. Here I am ♡

Ms. B | 25 comments Hi, my name is Ms. B on Goodreads. More than being a fan of Gimore Girls, I am joining this group to stay motivated in my quest to read more of the classics. Excited to get started!

message 209: by Nina (new)

Nina | 1 comments Hi
My name is Nina, I'm from Germany and am currently working at Starbucks (great for my coffee-addiction and as a way to save some money before going to University in October).
I've been reading a lot for practically my entire life. I've always loved fantasy, yet lately I've been getting into autobiographies and classics. German classics are mostly dramas, so I opted to reading foreign classics, since my english is finally at a level where I can enjoy reading them in their original language.

I love pretty much the entire show, therfore I don't have one episode I like in particular. Same goes for the characters. I just love how special every single one of them is. Even the smaller characters like Kirk and Mrs. Kim. I'm kind of in love with Logan, by the way. He makes Rory come alive. He's fun to be around, yet he can be serious when need be. Also I'm a big fan of the Life and Death Brigade.

message 210: by Cherri (new)

Cherri (cherricheetah) Hello! I'm Alexandra, I'm 19 years old, and I love books. My favorite genres are classics and young adult novels, more specifically fantasy and romances. I've never seen Gilmore Girls, but with having come across quotes from the series on the Internet, I have an appreciation for a character like Rory. I've only read about 40-something books out of the challenge so far in my life, but I do hope to complete it before I'm 21. Also, I'm sure I'll watch the show someday, after I get through all those books first, haha.

message 211: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahclasen) | 1 comments Hi I'm Leah! I'm a college sophomore trying expand my horizons when it comes to the books I read outside of class. I'm currently re-watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix and loving it just as much as the first time. I've read a few books on the list for classes but besides that I haven't read much else for a while. Here's to changing that! :)

message 212: by Penny (new)

Penny Quotes (pennyquotes) Hello! I am Penny. Just your average 19-year old gal trying to get back into reading after being in a reading slump for quite a while now. I am ashamed to say that I only stumbled upon Gilmore Girls in the last month or so, but better late than never I guess!

Anyways, I'm looking forward to following in the footsteps of Rory Gilmore and please check out my review of Talking As Fast As I Can by the Queen Herself, Lauren Graham (Here is the review). Also please feel free to add me as a friend or if you'd prefer, follow me for a follow!

Love, Penny

message 213: by Laura (new)

Laura Patton I’m currently in Ohio, but that will continue to change over the years. I’m a busy mom of two, am obviously a love of Gilmore Girls, and basically talk on the phone and process paperwork for a living. I have been saying to myself that I need to read the classics, and finding this list gave me the motivation to open start “Anna Karenina” and to reread “The Wizard of Oz”. Looking forward to expanding my horizon!

message 214: by India (new)

India (indiamcc13) Hi everybody! My name is India and I am currently a sophomore at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. I have been a huge reader my whole life and, when I started watching Gilmore Girls last year, I found a kindred spirit in Rory. I was actually doing this challenge by myself, but I found GoodReads and this group and now I'm excited to do the challenge with some friends! #TeamJess

message 215: by Caro (new)

Caro | 1 comments Hey everybody. I'm Caro form Germany =) I'm 26 years old and am currently searching for a book related topic for my bachelor thesis. (Maybe the role of books in Gilmore Girls.. :-D?) So, if anyone of you has inspirations for me? ;-)

I've watched Gilmore Girls in the great old days when you had one episode on tuesday afternoon and had to wait one week to get a new one, no possibility to binge watch... Oh, how my heart always jumped at the sound of the intro music =)
I also read a few of the books, that were actually just the episodes written down so I kind of already knew them by heart.

I've already seen the list of books somewhere a few years ago but I never really continued to follow the list. I'm really looking forward to be reading some (maybe someday all) of these books but at the same time do I not want to force myself to pick up any books. Reading should still be a pleasure.
As some of you mentioned as well I now want to get more into classics. I think I'll soon start with good old pride & prejudice =)

And of course as my previous 'speaker' stated, always and forever: #TeamJess

message 216: by Amaka (new)

Amaka Nzeadibe Hey. I'm Amaka, and I'll never be able to introduce myself well, so that's it!

message 217: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (becstokes) | 40 comments I'm Rebecca and I live in Adelaide, South Australia. I am trying to do a few different reading challenges at the moment... God, I love a good list!

I've read 43 of the books so far...

I'm not sure about the seasonal Mini Challenges, living in the opposite hemisphere! It might be nice to read about a blizzard while we're in the middle of a heatwave :)

I'm also trying to read the 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die and Oprah's Book Club and a lot of those are doubled up in the Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge, tick, tick!

I'm new to the TV series, but really enjoying it (still on Season 1).

message 218: by Sydney (new)

Sydney McMurry (smcmurry97) | 2 comments Hi, my name is Sydney. I'm currently going to the University of Iowa, but I will be graduating in May and moving out to Sacramento. So lots of changes coming up! I started watching Gilmore Girls in high school. At the time Rory was my favorite, but now Kirk and all his antics are. I think I really just love Stars Hollow and all of its bizarre charm. I've recently wanted to start reading more classic novels and thought that this would be a great way to do that.

message 219: by Irene (new)

Irene | 4 comments Hi all,

My name is Irene and I'm originally from Spain, though I have lived in several other countries during my twenties and I have now settled in Switzerland for good, or so it seems. I am currently a stay-at-home mam of two toddlers so my days are almost always busy, busy, busy, but I try to find time to read whenever I can.

I am currently trying to read more classics and that's partly why I'm drawn to Rory's reading list challenge. But I also think it'll be a great way to learn more about contemporary literature worth reading, which is something i'm almost clueless about. And I thought that by joining this reading group I would be able to get more out of my reading and improve my critical thinking skills. Plus I think it'll be lots of fun - it seems there are so many nice people in this group :)

And last but not least, I also love watching the Gilmore Girls, though I still have to watch the whole series from start to finish. Looking forward to doing that while enjoying some great books along the way!

message 220: by Faye (last edited Mar 09, 2018 06:55AM) (new)

Faye (fayeanna) | 1 comments Hi everyone!
My name is Faye and I am 21 years old. I'm from The Netherlands so English is not my native language, however I have developed my English quite well over the past few years. Approximately a year ago I started watching Gilmore Girls and I am still in love with Stars Hollow and of course with Lorelai and Rory. I have not read a lot in a while and I want to start reading again, so why not start with some classics from Gilmore Girls? A while ago I started with the Buzzfeed list so I have to switch to the list this group is reading, but that is no problem. I am excited for it!

message 221: by Carol (new)

Carol Barnes (cjbarnes) | 5 comments I am Carol Barnes from Duncan, Oklahoma. I have started reading the books in the Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge, I have watched the Gilmore Girls numerous times in the last two years. I am obsessed with the show.

lifewithbooks_82 | 1 comments Hi, my name is Maria, I am 35 and from the UK. :) I have always loved to read, but not done so for years with 3 kids and only just getting really back into it. I love GG so much and I love rewatching it. :)

Stephanie Johnson | 348 comments Mod
Hello, May name is Stephanie. I live in the frozen tundra of Minnesota. I am a homesteader and my busy time is the summer. ( I read more in the winter than anytime.)
I've been doing this list on my own for awhile now. I read a lot but, I don't focus on this list that often. I've read 93 of the books as of today (March 26, 2018) I enjoy talking to my librarian about the list and she's doing it as well. I love that it has a lot of classics on it and a lot of other fun stuff. I think I will start reading with the group next month since there is only 4 more days in this month and I am in the middle of some other books right now. I am still watching the original gilmore girls on netflix. I'm on season 5 I think? I look forward to reading with you all!

message 224: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (shoumani) | 3 comments Hi everyone! My name is Samantha, I am a third-year college student. I found this list a little while ago on but haven't had the time to look at it until now. I am excited to be apart of this group, I always want to talk about books I have read recently with people and combining that with my love of Gilmore Girls well who could ask for a better group to be apart of! I especially love the range of genres because I am always trying to expand the types of books I read!

message 225: by Lonny bookish (new)

Lonny bookish My name is Lonny and I really enjoy Gilmore Girls and heavily relate to Rory through much of the show. I have always loved reading and decided to join the group so I could be a more rounded reader. 😊

message 226: by Julia (new)

Julia (juliaistrying) Hi! My name is Julia and I first started watching Gilmore Girls in 2016. Since then, I've picked up the challenge and have really enjoyed it! I'm a Psychology major and I'm on book 18 of 339, so I've a long way to go still hahahaha

message 227: by Julie Anna (new)

Julie Anna (julieannasbooks) | 1 comments Hello! I'm Julie Anna and I'm a twenty-something from New York. I've been doing the list on my own for a little bit, but am excited to see there's a community for it! I started the challenge after realizing how many classics I hadn't read yet, and I wanted to change that! Plus, there's a nice variety of genres that I previously hadn't read much of and I thought the list was a great way to get started. Looking forward to reading with the group!

message 228: by Sharia Greenwood (new)

Sharia Greenwood | 1 comments Hi my name is Sharia and I'm from Nashville, TN. I am the Director of Operations in a manufacturing company and own a vacation rental home here in Nashville. I love to read but don't have a lot of time for it. I like to read books that challenge me but don't bore me. I have read a lot of classics in my college days but I have forgotten a lot so I would like to refresh as well as pick up a few new books. I am excited to be in a group because I am always looking for something new to read. Gilmore Girls is one of my "comfort shows". My daughter and I have done plenty of bonding watching this show, eating junk food and drinking coffee! It holds a special place in my heart. I love Jesse, Miss Patty and Kirk and of course, Lorilei, Rory, and Sookie...oh and everyone else too!

message 229: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Kimberly | 1 comments Hi! I'm Courtney I am (about to be yay graduation) social worker from Chicago. I'm just coming out of a masters program and I really need a way to jumpstart fun reading again. I loved it before I started college/grad school and I miss it. I've been watching Gilmore Girls since I was a little kid, it started when I was in middle school and I've watched it so many times. I've wanted to do this challenge for a long time and now finally feels like the right time. I'm Team Jess and Team Coffee. I want to cry, I'm so happy to be reading again I love that google brought me here

message 230: by Sofie (new)

Sofie Hi I am Sofie
I always liked the idea of reading but struggled to get a start and now that I am starting to watch the series with my mom again I thought it would be a cool idea to do this challenge. I am not the quickest reader but I will try to keep up.
I love reading classics but I found that I have not read that many so I wanted to challenge myself to read more. There are so many genres that Rory read that I wouldn’t dare to. So this will be a challenge to read all these books.

message 231: by Catherine (last edited May 03, 2018 10:20AM) (new)

Catherine Hello I have been lurking here for around a month, so thought it was about time I made my introductions. I am a primary school teacher based in the UK (London) and love reading (both children's and adults). I have watched all of Gilmore Girls and want to have a go at reading more of those 'should-have reads.

message 232: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2 comments Hi, I'm Laura and I'm from North Yorkshire in the UK! I've been a member here for a while but not properly used the group. I'm currently a librarian in a secondary school in the UK so am obviously obsessed with books of all genres! I'm just about to finish my Masters in Library Management and thought now might be a good time to get started with all the books I want to read...I've seen all the episodes of Gilmore Girls and used to sit and watch them with my mum when I was at school.

message 233: by Cathrine (new)

Cathrine | 14 comments Hi, I'm Cathrine and I'm from Bergen, Norway! I just started watching The Gilmore Girls again from the very beginning (I've actually never watched it chronologically before), which inspired me to start the Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge, which in turn led me to this group! I have read 12 of the books from the list previously, but I'm super excited to read the rest! I'm just finishing up my Masters in English linguistics this month, which will give me much more time to read during summer.

message 234: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi, I'm Barb! I'm a huge fan of Gilmore Girls. I absolutely love reading and I can't wait to tackle her list.

message 235: by Megg (new)

Megg | 7 comments SO glad to find this reading list. I'm a huge Gilmore fan and own the series. I always thought I should have read most of the books she mentions so here I am! Thank you for the list!

message 236: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra | 2 comments Good morning! I'm Cassie from Texas. I am an agriculture teacher and have always loved Gilmore Girls, hence this summer re-watching the series. I remember the series coming out when I was in junior high and have watched it ever since.

I have been collecting books on Rory's book list during college, including asking family members for gift cards to Half Price Books or giving them a list of books for Christmas and Birthdays.

message 237: by Sharri (new)

Sharri Delk | 9 comments Hi, my name is Sharri and I currently live in Asheville, NC. I am very excited I came across this group and I’m learning my way around it, hoping very much it is still active. I started the Challenge about 2 years ago, but put it off temporarily after I had my son. I am back at it and really look forward to actively pursuing this challenge with like minded people.
I actually wrote out every book in my journal 2 years ago and set some rules for myself. While I had actually read a lot more books on the list than I thought I would have at first glance, I refused to check anything off I could not remember the basic characters, theme or plot. So, that meant approximately 40 books I could have checked off remained on the list. I am currently compiling a Rory Gilmore bookshelf here on Goodreads, and have a Rory Gilmore bookshelf here at home I compile my actual books on. I allow myself to purchase 1 new (used) book to add to my shelf for every 1 I read.
I watched GG when I was younger with my mother, but I am not going to watch reruns right now because I would rather focus my time on the challenge over the watching 😂. What I remember most about GG, was how Rory always had a book in her hand. I am a philosophy major and plan on reading the entire Great Books curriculum once I’ve completed this challenge.
I very much look forward to communicating with all of you.

message 238: by Katie (new)

Katie (katieblank) | 2 comments Hi everyone!
My name's Katie and I just joined this group today and I'm from Illinois. I'm 20, a college student, and I grew up watching Gilmore Girls (but I've only watched the series in its entirety twice).
I've read some of the books from the list in high school and I've read some on my own (a total of 16 books) but I'm really excited to tackle the list in the group!

message 240: by Grace (new)

Grace Leverett (gracelev) Hi everyone! My name is Grace and I'm a senior in high school. I've been so inspired by Rory and her love for classics, so I decided to join this group to introduce some of that into my own life. My favorite books are As I Lay Dying and The Great Gatsby. I love Gilmore Girls mostly because it always puts me in a good mood. The humor, wit, and overall vibe of the show always manage to cheer me up.

message 243: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Murphy | 1 comments Hi Everyone! I'm Ashley and I'm from Toronto, Ontario. Growing up I watched Gilmore Girls whenever it was on. I still watch it as it's something I can depend on being my safe haven. I've always been a huge reader like Rory (however, I only read a few of the books she did)!

message 244: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Lane (mandylane) | 6 comments Hey y'all! I'm Mandy from Florida. I'm a band director, hobby farmer and new mommy. I started watching Gilmore Girls when I was on bed rest during my pregnancy last year and now I'm just obsessed. I love that it is a feel-good show that doesn't skimp on witty, intelligent characters. I feel as though I come away from each episode a little more knowledgeable about history or pop culture. I am currently in the final season. I think my favorite episodes so far were those in which Rory gave the commencement address at the Chilton graduation and when Rory and Logan jumped from the tower at the Life and Death Brigade party. My favorite characters are Rory and Richard. I, like I'm sure most of you, relate most to Rory, and I hope to instill her love of reading in my daughter.

I am just starting the reading challenge, and I look forward to knocking out all of the titles in a few years.

So good to be here with all of you, and I hope to get to know you all more!

I'm currently a senior in nursing school, so it's been hard to find time to read as much.. other than my textbooks. So hopefully I can keep up! Excited to start this challenge, and have some good discussions :)

message 250: by Emma (new)

Emma Verbree (emmaverbree) Hey there! I'm Emma and I'm from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. I've watched Gilmore Girls troughout my childhood and I still watch it today. Rory has always been an inspiration to me (except the Rory from the Year in the life episodes, that was a big mistake, sorry Amy). I've always admired her reading style (ie the style the writers chose for her). I'm hoping I'll enjoy the books as much as she did.
