One of my favorite books of all time is "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Also, I am definitely Team Jess. :)

I am Janne, I am from Belgium, I am 23 years old and just started the Gilmore Girls series (about halfway through season 1 now).
I am currently at home with burn-out, so one of my colleagues brought me 'relax' yogi tea, some cookies and recommended the series,
I can say I am totally obsessed with GG and when I typed in Rory Gilmore in Google, up came this reading challenge.
Reading has always been one of my favorite hobbies, but due to my incredible busy working schedule, reading hasn't been one of my daily activities anymore.
I would love to start reading again and experiencing literature like I used to.
I am so excited about this months' book 'The perks of being a wallflower'. I wanted to read it many times before, but just never got around to it.
I have never seen the movie as well, so I have no clue what to expect.
I am excited and hope that I can continue reading after I go back to work in a few weeks.
Wish me luck!

I am Cindy and I live in Utah, but I claim Seattle as where I am from originally.. I love the Gilmore Girls but as of yet I have not finished all the episodes. I have two seasons left... Can't wait... I found out about Gilmore Girls through Netflix mostly... I never had time to watch it when it first came out... (I have a little more now because I can choose to watch it when I can)... I try to make time to read when I can also because my job takes a lot of my time also. But I am excited to be in this group, so thank you...

I have quite a hectic schedule so I do not have as much time for my books as I used to..but I'm trying to make more of an effort. Life's to short to keep your books on the shelf.

Cheers everyone!

I've been married for 26 years and we have 2 boys and 2 girls. 3 of the kids still live near us but my oldest son married a French girl and they're living in France which means we're traveling to Europe several times a year now. I'm also finishing up my Masters in History.
I'm excited to get to know everyone!!!

I first started looking at GG last year because I heard it was a nice storie about a single mom and her daughter. I plan myself to be a single mom and those two are so a positive model of a modern family!! I really love them! And the fact that Rory is a strong educated young women fill me up whit hope !
I'm a little scare of the big economics books she reads in the last seasons, but I would love to give a try to the most of the book she reads :)
Can't wait to start whit you ;)
Julie

I am Sandy and I have a book problem .. hehe
I have been an avid reader since I can remember maybe 7/8 years old when I could pick my own non school set books .
I love the library and it was my favourite place to go as a kid as a kind of hidden sanctuary away from reality .
I am mum to two - both keen readers / reader to be .
I am in the UK and a proud military Wife and books are my saviour on long lonely deployments .
My favourite books are :
Alice in Wonderland - I collect these too
The runaway- martina cole
The green mile - Stephan King
Wuthering Heights
Authors I love :
Philippa Gregory
Diane Chamberlain
Stephan King
Victoria Hislop
Gregory Maguire
To be honest I like any genre and generally willing to give any book a go !
U favourite reading spot is curled up in bed with a cuppa ! Especially if it's raining out side .
I have only just got into Gilmore girls - I'm binge watching on Netflix .... my favourite episode is when Luke and Lorili get together ..... yes I screamed finally at my to haha . Also I want to hate Kirk but he is so adorably irritating lol .
Well that's me feel free to say hello and friend me xxx

The first time I watched an episode of Gilmore Girls I was thirteen and it blew my mind. At that time I wanted to be like Rory, but now it's Lorelai whom I look up to.
I love classics but I read almost anything, except nonfiction. I've tried several times but it's not for me, apparently.

My introduction to the wonderful world of Stars Hollow happened this last fall all thanks to Netflix. The witty and quick dialog and relatable ladies instantly won me over, and my obsession with the show caused a very inconvenient craving for burgers.
I rarely find the time to read anymore, so joining a group is just the thing to motivate me into sticking to a reading schedule. The last book I really really loved and couldn't shake off was Station Eleven by Emily Mandel. Usually, I go for a wide range of genres, classics and sci-fi for the most part, but I try not to limit myself and try out new things even if the description doesn't sound too appealing at first.

I'm a huge reading multi-tasker and usually have a few books going at the same time. I also love listening to books while traveling or grading, and I finally broke down and joined Audible.
I think I'm Team Jess, although I do have a soft spot for Dean.

I always feel inspired by Rory's sense for good and classic books and that's why I have decided to join the challenge. Actually, I have just started with 1984 by George Orwell.
I think it is really difficult to name a favorite character. Maybe it would be Rory herself or Paris (her mental breakdowns are just epic).
I am looking forward to finally facing the challenge & also to meeting some more Gilmore Girls addicts!

I became hooked on Gilmore Girls very fast and I adored watching Rory's literary journey, along with many many other things. Very excited to be a part of this group and looking forward to the discussions!

I just found this group tonight, and I had no idea that something like this existed, so I'm stoked to start participating and reading from Rory's list! I had no idea a list of books referenced in Gilmore Girls even existed, but let me tell you, I'm excited about this discovery!
I'm going to start by printing off the big list and seeing which books I already own and/or have already read. :) Have I mentioned I'm excited? :D
Anyway, as for introductions: I'm Jenna. I'm a New Adult author from Florida. I'm not sure what my favorite episode of Gilmore Girls is, but season 2 is probably my favorite season. I love all of the main characters, but also all of the side characters like Kirk. Gilmore Girls give me a safe go-to when I'm not feeling my best, and it's helped me get through some crap. I'm excited to be part of a community that loves Gilmore Girls AND books as much as I do now!

Hard to say what my favorite episode is, but "They Shoot Gilmores Don't They?" is up there. Oh btw, I'm 100% Team Jess :P
Anyway, I'm looking forward to interesting discussions and catching up on a lot of the classics that I never got around to reading over the years!

Hi Calvin, welcome to the book club. We're reading Sylvia Plath's The Bell Jar this month. You can find the books we've read/are currently reading on our group bookshelf: https://www.goodreads.com/group/books...
Have fun! :)

September's book is [book:The Bell Jar|6514
You can see it on the group page under "currently reading" :)

Happy reading!

I also wanted to leave this here:
This year I did the Popsugar challenge, Bookriot Read Harder Challenge, and I set and exceeded my Goodreads book goal. However, these challenges helped to open my eyes in regards to my approach to reading the last 2 or 3 years. I've set Goodreads goals and been pleased when I surpass them every year but my reading goals and challenges have made me lean towards shorter books and shy away from ones longer than 600 or 700 pages. To help with this, I created a new group for people to set up a pages reading goal to potentially be done concurrently with one of the many other reading challenges available.
