Sheila (sheilaj) | 1 comments Will this be acceptable for Oak tree?

Oak Tree - more pale pink cyclamen were massed, naturalized under an OAK. loc 2180

message 109: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H Yes that works Sheila.

Sheila (sheilaj) | 1 comments Thank you very much - yippee. I've already found 4 items in the books I have planned.

Yes in that context cuffs work.

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) Will lips painted red wine work for lipstick?
She's not drinking wine in the paragraph he's describing her looks in it.

Turtlecollector Dennis Sheila wrote: "Thank you very much - yippee. I've already found 4 items in the books I have planned."

I have found 3 so far in the book I started right after the words were listed. This may be a good week for me.

I am definitely keeping the item I thought would be hard on my list for later. I have found it in three books I read in the past week, maybe just because it was at the forefront of my brain so I noticed it better.

This is harder than the team game because I can't save a book for a future week since I don't know what items are coming up.

Lauren (laurenjberman) would "tie-dyed hair" work for dye?

message 118: by Marie (new)

Marie | 64 comments I read mostly e-books, so I don't know the exact page number, but I can put %. And did I understand correctly, I can use Wicked Lovely to find items in it, even if I've started it yesterday, as long as I find them in the part of the book that I didn't read before the list was posted?

message 119: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) One more questions: would "unlocked the red lacquered mail cabinet" work for mailbox?

message 120: by Gea (new)

Gea (gea89) | 406 comments I found 4 items in my book so not bad for beginning.

Jennifer H Lauren wrote: "would "tie-dyed hair" work for dye?"

It is actually lipstick or lip dye. Sorry for the confusion.

Yes

message 129: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) Kind of a weird question: one of the books I'm reading is in French but has a couple words. Should use Amazon or something to find a translation and use the page number from the edition I read or would you prefer I did it a different way...?

Jennifer H Sam wrote: "Kind of a weird question: one of the books I'm reading is in French but has a couple words. Should use Amazon or something to find a translation and use the page number from the edition I read or w..."

Yes, the Amazon way would probably work the best. It's been a loooong time since I took French in school :D

message 131: by [deleted user] (new)

does oak tree have to be the actual tree or can it be something made of oak?

I've used this translater before: http://translate.reference.com/

PepperP0t | 2106 comments Jennifer is handcuff acceptable?

message 134: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) Thanks for the link, Pat! :)

I don't read in French very often because it tends to make things more complicated for challenges, haha.

message 135: by PepperP0t (new)

PepperP0t | 2106 comments you're welcome Sam, my French is limited to fries, Roquefort, quiche, crepe (get it?!)

Turtlecollector Dennis Would this work for dandelion?

"His fingers caught playfully at her thumb, as if he'd caught a wisp of dandelion thistle."

message 137: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) Hey you can order yourself three square meals with that French, Pat! :P

I actually speak French probably just as much as English (maybe more with work!) but I just prefer reading and writing in English unless the book was originally in French. Just a quirk I guess haha.

Ghost in the Stacks Will
"Labeled with a different color dot of finger nail polish-and pulled out the Scarlet Woman Key"
work for scarlet?

message 142: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H Hmmm...I'm not quite sure on this one. Do you know what the Scarlet Woman Key is?

message 143: by Jennifer C. (new)

Jennifer C. I didn't see if anyone asked this, but you can only claim each item once, right? You can't claim the same item from two different books and get points for both?

Jennifer H Jennifer C. wrote: "I didn't see if anyone asked this, but you can only claim each item once, right? You can't claim the same item from two different books and get points for both?"

No, you can only claim each word once.

Reading a little further, that is the only reference I found, it seems like it is only a key.
If it doesn't work, that's cool! Can't hurt to ask!

Thanks. Another question, do we post books and items as we go or would you prefer one post for the week?

EDIT: Never mind, found my answer when I reread the rules.

message 149: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) I am obviously confused and I've never played before. So forgive the silly question.

Do we read multiple books this week in order to claim all the items, or do we read one book and claim as many as possible?

message 150: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H You can read as many books as you can within the week to get all ten items.
