Illuminae Buddy Read

Harlee, Karen, Daniel, Rose and I are starting a buddy read of on the 14th!

There are no set chapters per day, we just read at our own paces and start each post with how far along you are, i.e., Chapter #, %, using spoilers where needed. Have fun!

It kind of reminds me of a video game, how all the information is gathered. I'm not really a sci fi fan but I'm enjoying this so far!

I LOVE how this one is written! I'm on page 91, and yes, Kady and Ezra are great characters! I love all the blacked out curse words HAHA!

I'm on page 203. Has anyone noticed that some of the names being used are kind of Easter Eggs (is that what it's called?) Page 155, (view spoiler)[Subject 72's name is Laini Taylor. :) Wonder if the authors are friends with the real Laini Taylor? That's kind of a unique name. And then there's a Captain RYKER. That's Star Trek! (hide spoiler)]

I wonder if those are on purpose? Is anyone else seeing names they recognize?

I finished and HOLY CRAP, that was an intense read!! I LOVED it, even more than her Starbound trilogy. The format was very unique and different. This was a cross between EVIL ROBOT and ZOMBIE VIRUS, being in deep space with another ship fast approaching to blow them out of the water. I don't think it could have gotten more dangerous! (view spoiler)[ My only real gripe was the big twist about AIDEN being Ezra. I need to go back and figure out exactly where the computer took over to trick Kady, that was a little unclear to me. I think it was when AIDEN woke up, after Ezra had manned the cyclone and there was that big battle scene. I'm hoping I'm right, because all the stuff before that was them basically "making up" and figuring out their relationship, and if any of that was fake, I'll be pissed!! THe twist was very well done, I had NO FREAKING CLUE. That was pretty cool, but I kind of hated it all the same. EZRA!!! I was so happy that he wasn't dead. I don't know how Kady survived that missile attack, but I just went with it because I really didn't want her to die!!

That Phobos virus was just INSANE!! Some of the creeiest scenes I've ever read. The scene where the doctors are doing research and then you can tell the head doctor has contracted the virus and is slowly going insane...*SHUDDERS*

The VERY END, where she is basically threatening Ezra's mom was one of the best parts of the book IMO. Gave me chills at the end!! (hide spoiler)]
Can't wait for the sequel! Loved this so much, 5 star read easily for me!

I'm positive she isn't though because of the list of deaths we say earlier. But maybe that's a trick??? (hide spoiler)] I don't know, the possibilities are crazy!

That's the guy who recruited her to hack into the systems and find out what's really going on. Kind of a small resistance group. He's VERY important later in the story.

I'm on 385 and holy schnikes, is this book freaking intense!! It's seriously blowing me away!

And I see that Laini Taylor blurbed on the back cover so the authors ARE doing little shoutouts!! I found Kristin Simmons. And MacCaffrey, and a Revis (who also blurbed on the back cover). And that's just what I caught. I'm sure I missed tons of other names! ;)
