I'm at nearly the half-way point. I'm a bit surprised at how quickly the main characters got physical...quite early in their relationship it seems there are very few physical lines uncrossed, and quite early in the book as well. Is this standard for romance? In most books/series I've read (fantasy/urban fantasy), relationships take longer to develop.

I'm also a bit confused about the soulmate / "imprinting" thing. Galinn explains to Brynja that he became aware of this imprinting when she, as a small child, kissed him. It doesn't seem he was too happy about it at the time and he bemoaned the near-impossibility of being with any other woman (and clearly she was too young). This seems to be a pretty strong conviction he was struck with, and from an innocent childhood kiss. Why does Brynja not have this "imprinting" sensation, what with them both being adults and clearly going beyond chaste kisses? Certainly, she's attracted to him, but with the way he's described, that doesn't seem surprising.

With paranormal romance, from what I've read, it's quite normal. Karen Moning and JR Ward were definitely influences and I'd say that my scenes were tame in comparison.

As for the soulmate/imprinting, Galinn understands it a little better because of his age and experience. Bryn just dismisses it as attraction, not to mention that she's fighting her feelings for Galinn. As you get further into the book, the block that's keeping her from remembering her past is removed and much more is explained. Actually, there are a few scenes in the latter half that explain Galinn's harsh reaction to that kiss on the cheek as well. I can't say much more without giving all the answers away.
