ABANDONED. book about a girl with a little brother with hydrocephalus

Because its a kids book from a middle school-aged girl's point of view, I don't recall them actually using the word hydrocephalus but that is what her little brother had. his head was gigantic. I don't remember much else apart from that she loved her brother. her brother dies in the end which was sad, but it was a good book. what was it called? any idea?
