Kathy (butlerkf) | 8 comments I think the title of this book is Katie, I cannot remember the author, but the book was translated into several languages. I am not sure if it was written by a Russian or not. But for some reason I am thinking the location was in Russia. It is about a young girl that loses her mother and her father sends her to some relatives to live. I started this book in the 6th grade and I never did finish it. I would like to know the ending. IF anyone can help me with the author, I think I could maybe, hopefully find the book some place. I realize it is most likely out of date/print now, but if I had the name of the author I could google it. I was in FL a few years ago and the book walked out this old book store 10 minutes before I walked into the store. Thanks for everyone's help!

Amy (Other Amy) | 198 comments When were you in 6th grade, Kathy? It helps to cap when a book had to have been published by; some searches let you narrow down by that.

Kathy (butlerkf) | 8 comments oh ok, I read it in the early 1970's before 1975, maybe I read it in 1973 or 1974. It was an older book by then also. I hope this helps. I have researched books titled Katie, and my goodness there are so very many of them, but none had an older publishing date.
Thanks
Kathy

Amy (Other Amy) | 198 comments I'm only finding three books that are just called Katie with Amazon's search limited to published before 1975: Katie and Katie (both in 1974), and Katie (1884). If one of those are not it, maybe one of the other books in the search might help you:

Kathy (butlerkf) | 8 comments Hello Amy, how do I read part of these books? I need to know about about the book. I think it may the one from 1884, but I would need to be able to look inside the book. and I cannot, or I do not know how to do that with any of the books you have posted. Could you tell me how I should be doing that?
Thank you again so very much.
Kathy

Amy (Other Amy) | 198 comments Older books are hard to find look insides on. I would try googling "Henry Timrod Katie" to see if you can find a copy. Also your local library may have suggestions for how to go about it.

Kathy (butlerkf) | 8 comments Ok that is not what I was looking for, that Katie by Henry Timrod is a poem, not a book/story.

There's a different cover on amazon and some more info in the customer review here.

Kathy (butlerkf) | 8 comments OMG! I think this is the book!! How did you know and find it?? Thank you so much!! Now if I can find out some of the story line, just to make sure but the cover looks about right, although I was picturing a porch or garden but never mind, that could be just what I remember from the story line. thank you
Kathy

Kokomomomo | 62 comments You're welcome! :) I just changed "Katie" to "Katia" because you associated it with Russia, and checked for books with that title from before 1975. Glad it is the book you were looking for!
