Mark Laux | 2 comments Hello! I recently self-published a book of fiction about forgiveness. Looking for a publisher was very difficult beause my book "didn't fit any of the categories we normally publish".

I'm not sure how this group works, but would love to help in any way I can. If anyone has any pointers on how to connect and help out, please let me know. I love to read, and as it turns out, I also love to write.

Thanks, and any help I can get is greatly appreciated.

Oh, my book is entitled: The Wisdom of Epinoia.

When I review a book, I'm typically generous because I understand what goes into writing, but I'm also honest.

Let me know how to help!

Gregory Sharp (gregory_alexander_sharp) | 6 comments Hello fellow Goodreads Reviewers' Group members,

I'm Gregory Alexander Sharp (Greg), newly published first time novelist of supernatural thriller, Il Lupo.

Il Lupo is, on the surface of it, an adventure story about two friends who become embroiled in a cat-and-mouse race to track down and confront a werewolf, but it's much more than that. The protagonists are people with the same problems we all face at times in our lives, such as chronic anxiety, and overpowering grief at the loss of family members.
I'll be reaching out in the appropriate channels/threads within this group to secure a willing reviewer or two, and I look forward to engaging with the group more broadly on all the other great stuff that goes on here too.
All the best, and happy reading, writing and reviewing!
Greg Sharp

Matt Maxwell (mattmaxwell) | 1 comments Hey folks, new group member here. I'm Matt Maxwell, been writing since... since... Well let's just say it's been a long time, okay? I've mostly self-published, comics and novels and short stories (mostly SF/horror/fantasy), but I've done contract work for Blizzard Entertainment and have had a handful of short stories and a novel published by Broken Eye Books.

I'm releasing the first book in a new series entitled Hazeland, the book itself called The Queen of No Tomorrows. An earlier version of this novel was published by Broken Eye in 2018. I've done some rewrites and included a new novella entitled "Dreams are Made of Us." The books themselves are horror/fantasy/crime set in eighties Los Angeles, where trade in occult books and weird crimes have slipped in between the neon and heartbreak that the city might be better known for.

Matt Maxwell This is me.

The Queen of No Tomorrows This is the book.

I'll check around and see if there's folks I might be able to work with in terms of reviews etc. Thanks for your time.

Does anyone else writing in the thriller genre find it hard to connect with readers outside the young adult, romance, scifi, and fantasy realms? I have nothing against those genres, but I'd rather serve someone their preferred cup of tea and get the useful feedback in return.

I love reading thrillers and writing reviews, especially for independently published writers like me. I look forward to connecting with other thriller writers/readers here!

A unique fusion of astrophotography and storytelling, with narratives that span across the past and future. The stories are inspired by real events and seamlessly blend science fiction elements to create an immersive experience. The fine art astrophotography prints come with a dual-sided book featuring two intertwined stories.

The first story in the past is finished and I'm currently finishing it's counterpart set in the future. I would love honest reviews from people so I know what the general feeling is around this / these stories. Let me know if you are interested and I can send an epub file of the completed book "In the shadow of the gate".

Thanks in advance!

T.J.P. Campbell (tjpcampbell) | 5 comments Good luck on Goodreads and with your writing career. I read your blog on paying for reviews. You could do a USA Goodreads Giveaway , because you could give away up to 100 kindles (all free). This would probably not influence reviews though you may get people who just want anything free and not be into your genre. But if you look at the giveaways you can see how many people request the book. If you are in the USA you could giveaway just one printed book and you tend to get thousands of requests. Kindles get far fewer requests, but this probably means they would be into your genre. I'm doing one now and have 307 requests so far. I do not expect to get many reviews, but that's ok as you have to start somewhere. BTW, it costs 119 dollars I think. As I'm in the UK it cost me only 90 pounds or so. I am also using NetGalley. Anyway, good luck on your career.

Couch potato Mary’s life on a South Wales council estate is about to change forever, amid murders, miracles and mayhem, in a side-spliffin’ satire of biblical proportions. With a corrupt mayor to evade, a stoned fiancé in tow, and more twists and turns than the River Jordan, this divine comedy is an irreverent retelling – for those too lazy to read the real thing.

My second novel, Eat and Get Gas, a coming-of-age story set in 1971 in the Pacific Northwest, will be published on June 6, 2023.

Thirteen-year-old Evan Hanson is always the last in her family to know what’s going on—at least, that’s how it feels. Her father, Gene, who’s been meaner since he began serving in Vietnam, isn’t around much, and she likes it better that way. But then her brother, Adam, gets drafted, and her anti-war mother, Endura, takes him across the border to Canada, leaving Evan alone with Gene and her younger, special needs brother, Teddy.

When he realizes Endura isn’t returning, Gene takes Evan and Teddy to Eat and Get Gas, his mother’s café and gas station in Hoquiam, Washington. There, as well as her no-nonsense but loving grandma, Evan encounters Aunt Vivian, a teasing but caring know-it-all; Uncle Frankie, injured in Vietnam and suffering from PTSD; Paco, the draft dodger Frankie is hiding; Hal and Hubert, the strange but gentle next-door neighbors who play the piano like virtuosos and help out when they’re needed; and Louanne, Frankie’s reserved, sensitive sister. She is drawn in particular to Louanne, who was disfigured by a car accident that killed the rest of her and Frankie’s family.

At Eat and Get Gas, Evan finds a new freedom, and she starts to carve out a place for herself by helping in the café and sorting mail for Uncle Frankie, who runs a postal route in addition to running the gas station. She eventually, too, learns some of the family secrets she’s been kept in the dark about—and comes to understand that her mother isn’t coming back any time soon.

Then, after reading a letter that wasn’t meant for her, Evan discovers the biggest secret of all.

RA Coole | 2 comments Hi group. I'm RA Coole (Adam) and I was born in England in the early nineteen-fifties and grew up and came-of-age in the nineteen-sixties and early nineteen-seventies. My wife (we met in school) and I opted out of life in the UK in our thirties and came down to live in Southern Spain (where we still are to this day). With time on my hands back then I wrote a book just to see if I could.

I decided to write about a group of young friends growing up and finding all about sex in Britain of the nineteen-sixties. I initially called it "The Sixties Sexplorers", so you can have a good idea what it was about. The original manuscript started when the main character, Toby Adamson, experienced his first ever game of 'hospital' with the girl next door and went on until he and his best friend, his friend's twin sister and latterly his best friend's girlfriend were in their early twenties.

The book was never really intended for publication and the box of carefully typed A4 went under our bed when I finished it and stayed there ever since. Then, last year, I reconnected with an old school friend on FaceBook of all places. When I mentioned the book to him in passing he expressed an interest, so I scanned the whole thing and sent it to him chapter by chapter. He seemed to really enjoy it and suggested that the second half, once the characters reach the age of eighteen, could make a good e-book. So .... that's what I have been working on ever since.

I wonder if anyone here might now be interested in taking an early look at an extremely rude and erotic 118,000 word book, now called "Best Friends and Lovers", that I am on the point of completing at long last. It is currently with somebody awaiting proof-reading and also to be made into an e-book.

In addition to being a voyage of sexual discovery for its characters, the book is also a romance, which has a happy conclusion at the end. While the manuscript appealed enormously to the one male who has so far read it, I am wondering now, before I put it up on Amazon, if anyone else, especially some girls would like it too.

Do drop me a line (at: racoole (at) proton.me) if you would like a free pdf. It would be lovely if you would review the book at some point, provided that you like it. Having said that, it isn't a prequesite for getting in touch, though you might if nothing else, let me know if you liked the story if you manage to wade through it.

Hi Erin, I wonder if you would be interested in looking at a very spicy romantic novel called "Best Friends and Lovers"? It is set in late nineteen-sixties/early nineteen-seventies England. It is quite long (118,000 words) and it follows a group young men and women who are long-time friends. It begins when they are 18 years old and goes through until they are in their early twenties. At the moment the manuscript is out for proofreading and to be made into an e-book. I can let you have a pdf to look at if you are at all interested. I do not seem to be able to leave you a message here on Goodreads, so if you would like to get in touch I will have to leave it to you to e-mail me at racoole (at) proton.me Best wishes, Adam
