Just a question of the import bot not being able to handle the accents properly :)Have corrected the title. Is this the right cover: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0955... ? And is the translator mentioned on Amazon correct?

I don't see any note on the edition I have here that mentions a translator's name so I can't confirm it either way on that question. I see the unavailable status. LOL. I bought it mint condition last week from a shop in the middle of the central Africa forest. No wonder it was wrapped in plastic! They had at least three more in the cupboard. Had I known...!

I found confirmation on the translator! (Sorry, I was looking in the wrong places) In the French edition we have, in the middle of the full page introduction section it says:
"This book is the French translation by Olga Novotna of the book by Paul Latham, written in English."
("Ce livre est la traduction française, par Olga Novotna, du livre de Paul Latham écrit en anglais")
Hope that gets her name back on - it's 372 pages of translation - it was a big job, technical at times and is well-done.

Does it perhaps give the original title as well? Worldcat is woefully lacking :)

Hi.
This printed bound soft cover book I have is in French. I did find a website with a full PDF download for the English, so I wonder if they didn't bother to print the English version. (Useful Plants of Bas-Congo, DR Congo, by Paul Latham is the PDF version). It was published in UK and looks like shipped to Congo - perhaps the printed version was meant for the Bas-Congo so they printed it book-form in French expressly for that region. (just guessing)

super! About twenty minutes ago I idly logged out and tried to check the book and it came up the old title and green blank cover. When I'm logged in I get the updated version. Do the fixes you just did take care of all that too so I shouldn't have even mentioned it?

It should show correctly everywhere in a couple of days.

Ok! This has been very good! Maybe now with the better exposure for it, I need to travel back out to the forest and pick up those for-sale copies I saw when I bought mine!

I took a look at your website. Very informative and interesting! And since we're not supposed to wander too far away from books here, I saw your reference to Paul Latham's book! :)
Just to comment that a revised English soft cover edition, jointly authored with Augustin Konda ku Mbuta, is available in 2 volumes and was published in 2014. A revised jointly authored French edition, translated by Myriam Selfe, was also published in 2014.
Paul (are you perhaps the author?), these are the editions already in Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/work/editio...The revised English edition is there. Do you have more info on the French edition? Format, ISBN, page count, etc.?

Thanks, have corrected the ISBN. It was also on Worldcat, but without defining a format.(In future, please start a new thread, because this one is for a specific book. :) )

I can't tell from what's already listed in the database if it's the same edition or if the existing title is for a first edition, which I haven't actually seen...but the current entry title as typed won't link properly to any available edition. So, if you all can set it straight with this new information, I'll pull it up and start writing my review for it. Thanks so much!
