When You Reach Me: Round vs. Flat Characters

At the beginning of the book we learn about Miranda. Sal on the other hand we know very little about. Obviously, we learn more and more about each character as the story progresses, but at the the beginning we know a small amount of information. Because of the amount of information that we know about Miranda and Sal we, as a reader, can imply that Miranda is a round character and Sal is a flat character.
