When I am at my dashboard and all 3 of my books display, and I click on "preview", I receive the preview I submitted to Goodreads. When I click on the book title itself, and that book's page opens up and I click on the icon of an open book to read a preview, I get the first chapter of the book as I do on Amazon. Is that how it works? Or should my Goodread's preview show up the same on both previews. I was preferring the one show up that I downloaded to Goodreads on both preview locations... Thanks!

If you are on the book page, you should see a green button that says "Read Book". That is the preview you uploaded. The other "Preview" is the automatic import from Amazon (I know at one point that was U.S. users only, but it might have been expanded.)

Just found the Preview by accident and finding very long previews that the authors did not submit -- 8 chapters in one case! How does this happen? 7 chapters in another ... how do long previews get in there??
As long as authors want, since they are the only people who can add them.
But the 3 authors in question swear they did not add any preview, they did not even know there was such an option!!!
Are you talking about the automatic ones provided by amazons look inside perhaps? Those are 10% of the book, same as on the zon.
I don't know if Goodreads automatically puts the 10% from Amazon on the GR site. But the very different lengths of different books is puzzling. I cannot see an author dashboard so I cannot advise my authors about what to do. We're pretty flummoxed. Thanks, though.I also don't know what "the zon" is ....
#10 - He Krazykiwi was using zon as in "Amazon", just stating that Amazon does a 10% preview. And yes if there is an Amazon preview it shows on this site, so if you check the book here and check it on Amazon, it should have the same length preview, if it does not then it is probably an Author Uploaded preview.
Oh Thanks--with all this info I compared and the zon and the GR previews are the same -- so author must have just checked Preview ... without indicating amount and without uploading her own preview.
